View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a 2811 ISR, a lab unit with almost nothing yet configured other than some IP networks on serial and FE interfaces to ping to other lab routers. And I have one HWIC-4ESW installed, and I amrunning IOS 15.2.I want to set the card as a single routable interface and just have the ports act like switch ports, which I imagine is the default design of these cardsI work a lot with Cisco 891 ISRs so figured it's the same here, assign an IP to interface Vlan1 and all is well. That was wrong, obviously more config is required. It seems there are a lot of differing answers out there, so far none what worked for me. The best looking one I could find said to assign an IP to the Vlan 1 interface, then go to each of the four FE interfaces on the switch module.

I installed the module into the router and the router recognizes the module. View 1 Replies View RelatedWe have been facing a problem at my company ! We have a Cisco Router 1921 with one HWIC-4ESW in trunking with a RuggedCom switch RSG2100.When I use the GigabitEthernet port to make a trunk, I create 2 sub-interfaces (one for each Vlan) and configure the Port on Switch as Trunk, the inter-VLan routing works with no problem. But now I need to use this configuration using the HWIC-4ESW on Router, and I can't do this work. I try creat interface Vlan for each vlan, and try creating the VLans at Router Vlans database, but no way. At router I enter in interface and try to do the switchport trunk command to add a Vlan, but doesn't work.

We have configured new 2911 router with HWIC-2T with it.However we are seeing serial interfaces up, but can hardly ping other end. Again we are seeing a lot of CRC errors on serial interface.
But if we connected same cable, with other old router 2811, it works fine. Confiuration is same on both the routers. [code]
I had purchased a HWIC-8A in an effort to provide terminal server capabilities into multiple routers. I had found a document that I thought would take me through the configuration but it doesn't appear that the command syntax is the same on the 2911's as it is in the document. Does any know how I would need to get this configured on the 2911 router?

Got a question regarding this wic-4esw card the router knows it's there from show inventory and the Ethernet interfaces are showing up, but I'm not getting devices to connect that is the pc plugged into the Ethernet on the switch card are not getting address from the routers dhcp.At present I do not have vlan1 set up as I use an ip address going to eth0 which is plugged into a 3524 switch which I want to get rid off because it's too loud.So do I need to get rid of the ip on the router Ethernet 0 and do vlan 1 with an ip address for the router to fully understand the switch card and host pcs and phones to be able to have address distributed to these devices.

But the card doesnot show up in the router and all the three lights on the HWIC card is steady green. I have gone through some cisco documentation and found that i have to upgrade the IOS.
I have few questions before doing the upgrade.
1. Which IOS version should I upgrade to?
2. Will this erase my exisitng running configuration ? I have VPN services, PPPoATM, PBR etc.. all running on this router at present.
3. Presently i have a 128 MB CF card on the router. Will this be enough or do i need to upgrade this card also? Can i choose an IOS which will fit into this card otherwise while keeping all existng features?
4. I want to use the HWIC card for the ISP's internet service through PPPoE. Will this be possible with the upgraded IOS ?

View 7 Replies View RelatedThe problem is I can't access the router from the internet. I am also an ocean away from the site. I have an ugly hack set up where I access an inside PC with Teamviewer and then puTTy to the router, but it is slow, ugly, and doesn't fix my problem. I need to be able to set up internet accessible servers at this location for VOIP, VPN, and REAL remote access.Everything else works fine. Connection is stable. Speed is kinda ******, but that's not so important.
First off some specs:Cisco 2801c2801-ipvoicek9-mz.124-24.T1.binhwic-3g-cdma-sSprint 3G data plan
Ok, I have set up the previous equipment as a router for a branch office where 3G access is the only available internet access.I have had the excruciating experience of talking with Sprint Tech Support, and would rather shoot myself in the foot than do so again.
Here is what they told me: "They block ports, but they can't tell me which ones."Here is relevant info I have been able to gather. The IP connection the ISP gives us is not NATTED. That is the address at wimi.com and show int dialer 0 is the same one. Most forums say Sprint only blocks port 80.Zenmap (nmap for windows) says the router has NO open ports but DOES exist.Router does not respond to pingsCan't SSH into router from internetCan't access a test local server with port 8080 or 8081 open with the correct nat statement in Cisco routerNo filtering access-list for testing The config should be just fine as a base config for using hwic-3g-cdma-s as the main internet access interface for a router. Everything works fine aside from the lack of remote access.
So in my head it has to be one of 3 problems.
1. The card is doing some weird stuff to incoming requests
2. Sprint is blocking WAN requests on port 22, 2200, 8080, and 8081 and pings (tested). Maybe they block all WAN requests?
3. There is something wrong with my config.
why I can't remote access into my router or things to try with the config?
Below are some config pastes:
chat-script cdma "" "ATDT#777" TIMEOUT 60 "CONNECT"

ip ssh authentication-retries 2
ip ssh port 2200 rotary 1
ip ssh version 2

I started to set up a 1721 router with WIC-4ESW. This is on an internal network, so only looking to just do routing from FA/0's interface to the networks attached to ports on the WIC. I first assigned just VLANs to 2 of the ports and this did not work. So I did some reading up and decided to use bridge groups. Except I still can not access the interfaces on the WIC. And by that I mean on the router itself I can not ping the ip assigned to the BVI.
I have another 1721 w/4 port that long ago I seem to remember simply assigning VLANs to the interfaces and I was able to communicate between the networks without issue (or maybe I just don't rememer that well). Thing is I should be able to at least ping the internal interfaces shouldn't I (assuming the status is up). I don't know why BVI2 and 3 are listed as down, nor do I seem to know how to bring these up.
This is what ip int br gives me:
1721#sh ip int br
Interface IP-Address OK? Method Status Protocol
BVI2 192.168.101.1 YES manual down down
