We are planning on moving towards MPLS. I want to test a MPLS capability with Cisco 1841 Router and a HWIC-4ESW. Is it possible to use the MPLS withe mentioned devices?

I am trying to configure a newly installed HWIC-4ESW on a 2811 router to bridge to the FE 0/0 interface. Currently, I have a cheap switch connected to FE 0/0 which in turn connects to all the phones, however now I just want to connect all the phones to the HWIC and have it internally bridge to FE0/0 for the connectivity to CME, etc.

And I have one HWIC-4ESW installed, and I amrunning IOS 15.2.I want to set the card as a single routable interface and just have the ports act like switch ports, which I imagine is the default design of these cardsI work a lot with Cisco 891 ISRs so figured it's the same here, assign an IP to interface Vlan1 and all is well. That was wrong, obviously more config is required.It seems there are a lot of differing answers out there, so far none what worked for me. The best looking one I could find said to assign an IP to the Vlan 1 interface, then go to each of the four FE interfaces on the switch module.

I have performed shutdown and no shutdown in the interface but still the the WAN link was not working. After performing a reboot the WAN link started working. No error logs were generated while the WAN link was down.

I installed the module into the router and the router recognizes the module. I can configure the ports as access or trunk ports, but I am unable to configure the channel-protocol or the channel-group for the Etherchannel. The IOS on the router is 15.1 M with the upgraded Bootloader version 12.3.

We have a Cisco Router 1921 with one HWIC-4ESW in trunking with a RuggedCom switch RSG2100.When I use the GigabitEthernet port to make a trunk, I create 2 sub-interfaces (one for each Vlan) and configure the Port on Switch as Trunk, the inter-VLan routing works with no problem.But now I need to use this configuration using the HWIC-4ESW on Router, and I can't do this work. I try creat interface Vlan for each vlan, and try creating the VLans at Router Vlans database, but no way. At router I enter in interface and try to do the switchport trunk command to add a Vlan, but doesn't work.

During bandwidth tests to several sites (principally speedtest.net) I get ping times of 10-11 ms, download speeds of 12+ to 17+ mbps but failure on upload tests using my DIR-655.
When I bypass the 655 and test directly with my cable modem, all (including upload) tests work reliably and consistently.
I have swapped the two ethernet cables involved as well as replacing both with new cables but the results are the same (uploads fail with 655 and work without it)
I have seen several postings over the the last year with this same problem but have never seen any comment from D-Link, or a solution from any reader.
Not that it should have any bearing, but I have TA785GE-128M motherboard and am running Windows 7 (patch current) on COMCAST
is this problem acknowledged by D-Link and is there a solution?

i would like to find them a cisco series router that can provide both load balancing to maximize the speed from both ISP's and - provide automatic fail-over / business continuity in the event one of their Internet lines goes down.
i see that the 800 series router provides business continuity but it doesn't appear that is suitable for my situation ( T1 / broadband cable ) not DSL.don't want to spend 5k on something that is overkill b/c again, these are relatively small offices ( 40- 75 users max )

View 1 Replies View Related I just switched to Roadrunner Lightening via Brighthouse Networks. There is no configuration capability in the Cable modem/ router / wireless - Ubee provided to make the Modem a bridge. You have to call Brighthouse to do that. They indicated that they only do that for supported routers and the EA 4500 is not one of them. I'm ready to call them to say I have one of the supported modems so "do it" and then find out what happens.
Meanwhile I have connected my EA4500 through their router and have a network in a network. I've noticed another more significant problem. The speeds through the EA 4500 drop to 90%. Is there something wrong with the router configuration that would cause this significant drop in speed? I'm afraid if the problem is the EA 4500.
