Currently, I have a cheap switch connected to FE 0/0 which in turn connects to all the phones, however now I just want to connect all the phones to the HWIC and have it internally bridge to FE0/0 for the connectivity to CME, etc.

And I have one HWIC-4ESW installed, and I amrunning IOS 15.2.I want to set the card as a single routable interface and just have the ports act like switch ports, which I imagine is the default design of these cardsI work a lot with Cisco 891 ISRs so figured it's the same here, assign an IP to interface Vlan1 and all is well. That was wrong, obviously more config is required.It seems there are a lot of differing answers out there, so far none what worked for me. The best looking one I could find said to assign an IP to the Vlan 1 interface, then go to each of the four FE interfaces on the switch module.

I have performed shutdown and no shutdown in the interface but still the the WAN link was not working. After performing a reboot the WAN link started working. No error logs were generated while the WAN link was down.

I can configure the ports as access or trunk ports, but I am unable to configure the channel-protocol or the channel-group for the Etherchannel. We have a Cisco Router 1921 with one HWIC-4ESW in trunking with a RuggedCom switch RSG2100.When I use the GigabitEthernet port to make a trunk, I create 2 sub-interfaces (one for each Vlan) and configure the Port on Switch as Trunk, the inter-VLan routing works with no problem.But now I need to use this configuration using the HWIC-4ESW on Router, and I can't do this work. I try creat interface Vlan for each vlan, and try creating the VLans at Router Vlans database, but no way. At router I enter in interface and try to do the switchport trunk command to add a Vlan, but doesn't work.

View 3 Replies View RelatedGot a question regarding this wic-4esw card the router knows it's there from show inventory and the Ethernet interfaces are showing up, but I'm not getting devices to connect that is the pc plugged into the Ethernet on the switch card are not getting address from the routers dhcp.At present I do not have vlan1 set up as I use an ip address going to eth0 which is plugged into a 3524 switch which I want to get rid off because it's too loud.So do I need to get rid of the ip on the router Ethernet 0 and do vlan 1 with an ip address for the router to fully understand the switch card and host pcs and phones to be able to have address distributed to these devices.

But the card doesnot show up in the router and all the three lights on the HWIC card is steady green. I have gone through some cisco documentation and found that i have to upgrade the IOS.
I have few questions before doing the upgrade.
1. Which IOS version should I upgrade to?
2. Will this erase my exisitng running configuration ? I have VPN services, PPPoATM, PBR etc.. all running on this router at present.
3. Presently i have a 128 MB CF card on the router. Will this be enough or do i need to upgrade this card also? Can i choose an IOS which will fit into this card otherwise while keeping all existng features?
4. I want to use the HWIC card for the ISP's internet service through PPPoE. Will this be possible with the upgraded IOS ?

When i connect PC to port F0/3/0, the interface is up, but i cannot pint go interface, i mean it request time out. My question is, Is it correct that i install card into slot 2 and 3?
What is the problem all port up but i cannot ping to interface?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen we install an HWIC-2FE card in slot 0 or slot 1 of a 3845, the interface fails to pass any ping packet greater in size than 449 bytes. It works fine up until that limit is reached, but then fails completely on a larger size packet. If we move to slot 3 or slot 4 on the 3845, the card works just fine! I have looked through the cisco official bug tracker for HWIC-2FE, but could not find a similar symptom listed. We're running advanced ip services 12.4(24)T7 code on the routers. Any software fix or if this is a platform problem with the 3800 series.
