Currently I'm looking for a way to failover our internet connection from one site to another site over our MPLS line, should that internet connection go down.
My layout: Internet > Cable internet modem (Site B) > ASA 5510 (Site B) > 2821 Router (Site B) > MPLS Line > 2821 Router (Site A) > ASA5510 (Site A) > ISP provider internet router (Site A) > Internet
Facts:Site B is the one with the internet issues. The MPLS line is routed using BGP. [URL]

I am looking for a simple router recomendation for multihoming dual 100Mbps internet connections with BGP routing. What are the current best practices regarding required resources for the full Internet BGP routing table? We were thinking of specing a 3945 for this application, but is that overkill? The customer has a 2821 that is not in use, I'm thinking this would be too slow for Internet BGP routing combined with the 100Mbps line speed.

What is the best way to monitor an Internet Edge router from the Internal network behind the Firewall? We want to pull more information from the edge router like netflow. We can use SNMPv3 and ACLs to keep the router secure.
But I am looking for the best config to keep both the router and firewall as secure as possible while still allowing us to monitor performance and faults.I am running an ASA and a 2821.

I don't know how to copy / paste the ip config so I ss'd it:(url) internet provider is RCN, I have AVG and Malwarebytes installed, I've tried disabling them both and didn't fix it! Anyways my internet was working fine, until one day it just suddenly stopped working. We have multiple computers hooked up to the network (5) and all work except mine. This same problem happened to my sister's computer, she has almost the same model as mine. We fixed it by switching it to wireless, but I was wondering if there was any way around that. It's a HP Pavilion. The box thingie lights up green and everything. I can access the other computers through the network, it's just the internet that won't work.

We have multiple cisco routers and most of them have dual WAN connections thru different ISPs. So, we use IP SLA monitor with tracking object s to monitor each ISP availability/reliability and switch routing accordingly ( by IOS). So far, it has been working ok. However, recently, we had some ISP high latency and the connection to one ISP will be so slow but the IOS keep seeing it as UP, thus sending traffic thru it. So, I tried to change around the threshold numbers around with no luck. Is there any configuration/commands or tricks that can do the job here? I don't want the users to be the one to detect the Internet slowness and have me manually shut down an interface or change the static routes metrics. here is a sample of my config:
ip sla 1 type echo protocol ipIcmpEcho x.x.x.x isp 1 gateway threshold 3 frequency 5ip sla monitor schedule 1 life forever start-time now
ip sla 2 type echo protocol ipIcmpEcho x.x.x.x isp 2 gateway threshold 3 frequency 5ip sla monitor schedule 2 life forever start-time now

Would there be any reason why a universal image wouldn't stack correctly with other switches running the single .bin file?

I have a 2801 running c2801-spservicesk9-mz.124-3g.bin According to the Cisco IOS MIB locator the image supports OLD-CISCO-SYSTEM-MIB I have tried .1.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.1.55 etc to set server IP address and the filename string but without any luck.e.g.
Reason: (noSuchName) There is no such variable name in this MIB.
Failed object: iso.3.6.1.4.1.9.2.1.55.a.b.c.d (where a.b.c.d is the server IP)
I have also tried the method similar to that for Cat 3550 switches where you create a table of entries to define the transfer paramaters then activate the transfer (I think the CISCO-CONFIG-COPY-MIB)
e.g.
[URL]
C:>snmpset -v 1 -c private <device name> ccCopyProtocol.<random number> integer 1 ! 1 = tftpccCopySourceFileType.<Random number> integer 1 ! 1 = networkFileccCopyDestFileType.<Random number> integer 3 ! 3 = startup & 4 = runningccCopyServerAddress.<Random number> ipaddress "<server ip address>"ccCopyFileName. <Random number> octetstring "<file name>"ccCopyEntryRowStatus.<Random number> integer 4 ! 4 = createAndGo, or 1 = Active
To write net have the source as running (4) and the dest as network (1)
ccCopySourceFileType.<Random number> integer 4
ccCopyDestFileType.<Random number> integer 1
Clean up at the end - destroy .14 with the value of 6.
example output : -
-- earlier output omitted --
Error in packet.
Reason: (noSuchName) There is no such variable name in this MIB.
Failed object: iso.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.96.1.1.1.1.4.111

I want upgrade IOS on my 7206VXR from 12.4(12c) to 15.1(4)M5 , but the CF card only 64M.
-NAME: "disk2", DESCR: "64MB Compact Flash Disk for NPE-G1"
-Router#show bootvar
BOOT variable = disk2:c7200-jk9s-mz.124-12c.bin,15.1(4)M5 is almost 40M. So there is not enough space.I want to ask is it ok if I upgrade with normal precedure , With the command " copy tftp: disk2: " ?Does the router will automatically delete the older IOS first and then copy into the new one ? Or Is there something I should pay attention first ?

I have an 877W router that I would like to have a 2nd pre-configured backup for. I was thinking of getting another 870 series (probably an 877) router, as the more expensive wireless option is not actually required. Am I right to assume that I could simply copy the contents of my current config.txt file onto the second router?

I have Windows 7 Home Premium on a Dell Inspiron N5010.
I have had this problem for several weeks, and have searched all over to find a solution (tried them all, but none have fixed it). I have a good wireless internet connection, and sometimes I use ethernet. Despite having such connections, my wireless internet icon doesn't change, as it seems to keep getting stuck on the icon which shows a red x over the ethernet image.
It will show the blue loading ring with the bars as it searches for a wireless connection for a little bit, but then it goes to the same, incorrect icon, even though when I put the cursor over the icon it says "Internet Access".
So far, I've tried deleting the Icon Cache and rebooting, as it was suggested that it could be potentially corrupted, but the internet icon stays the same. I have also tried searching for a driver that could be potentially related to the issue and uninstalling it, but it didn't work. The red x went away for a moment, being replaced by a loading blue ring, but then the red x returned (same icon image).
Is there a specific driver for the icon itself? I know I had to uninstall a driver then reboot to get my battery icon back after it mysteriously disappeared. I also have tried deactivating/reactivating my wireless connection by hitting the button, but it doesn't change.

I've rolled back my E4200 router to the old firmware 1.0.0.1, then set up a media server. It generally works (e.g. it streams pre-existing media files to other devices). I can copy to this external drive small (say, < 1 MB) files. The drive has enough free space. However, I cannot copy to this external drive large (e.g. 700 MB) files.

I've been experiencing a strange, repeatable behavior with my Linksys E1000. I have several wireless and wired devices connected to my E1000:
Wired: TivoHD, Sony BluRay Player, Sony TV, Windows XP Wireless: Lenovo Laptop (Windows 7), HP Laptop (Windows 7), 3 iPods, 2 iPhones
When I try to copy large files (~ 4GB) from my (wired) Windows XP box to either of my (wireless) laptops, the Linksys drops my WiFi network -- but the wired connections continue to work (including internet access). Copying the same/similar file from a WiFi device to a wired device appears to work correctly, as does copying from WiFi to WiFi.
To be clear, my WiFi network "disappears" -- it is no longer listed as an available network (as opposed to just dropping internet connectivity for WiFi). Unplugging the router and plugging it back in brings my WiFi network back up.
I have been able to repeat this issue with multiple files over the course of several weeks, and it happens about 75% of the time (i.e., I am occassionally able to complete a file copy from wired LAN to WiFi).
A little bit of background: I resurrected an old Windows XP box and am using it for shared network storage. I copied about 400 GB of files from my laptops to the XP box (WiFi to wired) with no issues at all. Pulling the same files back from XP to my laptops (wired to WiFi) has been causing the issue described above.

How do I save/copy all of the router configuration entries onto a memory/flash usb drive? I did not configure the router myself (out of town when purchased). I have already downloaded the manual for that router and I want to understand exactly what she (person who configured router) did and identify any mistakes she might have made. Once downloaded, I assume I can print out all configuration settings.

I've currently got a WRT54G and have an opportunity to buy a WRT54GS. The problem is that the seller of the WRT54GS has lost the Set-Up Wizard CD & Hard Copy Quick Installation Guide. Obviously I have these items already with my WRT54G. My question is this. Are these items different for the WRT54G or will the stuff I already have for the WRT54G "work" for the WRT54GS.

We are using a 2821 Router as our boundary router. It has installed into it a 9 port HWIC for layer 2 switching as well as allowing the router to communicate on the Network Management VLAN. All of the devices on the Network Management VLAN are segregated from the managed traffic, which unfortunately also doesn't allow them external NTP services. Can the router be programmed as a NTP server so that all of the network appliances can utilize it for NTP from either it's NM Vlan IP address or from a loopback address?

I have a Router 2821 with c2800nm-advipservicesk9-mz.124-24.T1.bin and with a Cisco Integrated Service Engine(s) Cisco Unity Express 7.1.1 in slot 1 , this router shows a high cpu utilization.I think is a bug with the IOS , because there is no voicemail configured on the CUE, there is no traffic to the CUE , just traffic from:
- voice calls
- ospf
The ospf is not the cause of the high cpu , because the high cpu utilization appears before I put the ospf proccess on the router.
