Cisco Switching/Routing :: Stacking 3750-X With Universal Image With 3750-G Running BIN Image?
Oct 10, 2011
I'm looking at adding a Cisco 3750-X switch running c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-55.SE1 (IP base license) into a stack of 3750-G switches running c3750-ipbasek9-mz.122-55.SE1.bin Given that the version and feature sets are the same I don't forsee any compatibility issues. Would there be any reason why a universal image wouldn't stack correctly with other switches running the single .bin file?
End user have had problem with IP phones that are connected to 3750 stack; many times IP phones lose connection with CallManager and the only way to clear this issue is with clear arp command. DHCP for IP phones is configured in 3750 stack.
At the beginning 3750 stack was set a VTP server, and the others as VTP clients, we detected another VTP server switch so we thought that was the problem, but after removing the issue remains. Finally we set all switch in transparent mode.
Base on this we decided to change the software image 12.2(35)SE1 C3750-ADVIPSERVICESK ---> 122-53.SE2 IPSERVICES I'm going to follow the procedure 3750 Series Switch Stack IOS Upgrade − Automatic .
as it show in the following information there are 4 differents models of 3750 switches, I have already download c3750-ipservicesk9-tar.122-53.SE2.tar for 3750G-24TS.
I have two doubts:
1. There is no problem for using this tar file for all models?
2. I followig command is correct for the change I plann to do ?
find what feature set is supported on this IOS S45EUK9-33-1511SG The client requires Layer 3 functionality so do i need to apply any license with it or it will perform layer 3 routing (like rip, ospf, bgp, ipv6, ospfv3) ?
whether a Cisco Router 2911 would work on images other than universal image. This is the question raised by one of our customer. He has 2811 Router where-in he has configured T1/E1 configuration, terminated to Zyxel Modem and working fine. Now he wants to replace this 2811 router with 2911 router. Since the universal image in 2911 router is not working with the present configuration in 2811 router, he wants to know, what options are there for him to configure this in 2911.
We have three Cisco 3750 - 48port POE -LAN switches and i am trying to see if there are any issues when we stack POE and Non-POE type of switches.Aslo looking for information on the advanatage and disadvantage the stacking can provide on a Cisco 3750 48port.
i tried to create a customized web-authentication page that will re-direct any user to the web-page once they are connected to the network.
The problem is, i just cant attach/upload the image of the logo into the customized web-page (welcome/login page).Been researching about it, found and tried some clue bout it on cisco documentation, but still can't solve the problem.
come to a bit of a block in the road on a network im building ,all is going well except i need to build a pseudowire to backup our primary L2 circuit, I labbed this with some 3745's but the kit we are using is the 1921, with the universal image how do i go about upgrading functionality to allow this [code]
I would like to ask about 3750 stacking and some Cat6 stuff...
1) How do we monitor 3750 stacking port in LMS? 2) Let say if I stack 3 switches, middle switch should be Master. Uplink should be at Top and Bottom. Is best practice? 3) Can we mixed 3750G and 3750X and what is result internal BW - fallback to 32Gps? 4) is there any Qos difference between WS-X6816-10G-2T and WS-X6816-10G-2TXL? 5) is there any Qos difference between MSFC5 PFC4 and MSFC5 PFC4XL? 6) What is main difference between PFC4 and PFC4XL in Sup2T? 7) Pls share more about Central and Distributed Switching in Sup2T and which card support Distributed DFCXL?
I plan to build improved redundancy in to my LAN by stacking two 3750s and teaming pairs of NICs on my Dell PowerEdge servers, with each cable of the pair going to a different switch. In my mind this provides redundancy for the NICs and the switches. Does this configuration will work, and also what type of teaming is supported, as I was planning to have one NIC active and one standby, but can I run this configuration with both NICs in the team as active with load balancing?
As we know there are three layer in cisco Network Model:
-Core -Distribution -Access
So my question is in Core / Distribution layer should i use Etherchannel between switches or use Stacking if switches are stackble. For ex: suppose I have two cisco 3750 switches . so should i use etherchannel between them or use stacking in core layer? What are the advantages and disadv of both.
Looking for feedback from other organizations that have large 3750 stacks. I've got one stack of (8) 3750's composed of (6) 3750G's and (2) plain 3750's. This particular stack is usually unresponsive to SNMP queries and often fails to write config when we make changes. After a couple tries it will finally go. Part of my probably here is likely the plain 3750's that always boot faster and come up as the master. I should manually set the master to one of the G's. What I'm wondering is who else has 7-9 3750's stacked and are they performing well for SNMP, telnet, etc? I've got another newer stack of 7 3750E's that I need to add one more switch to. Need to decide if I want extended downtime to break the stack up or just add the 3750X to make member 8 and hope it performs well. I have 50+ 3750 stacks working great on our campus.
I'm have upgraded our ASA5510's from 7.0.8 to 8.4.3 and now I just need to do the ASDM, but get this error? The bin file has been uploaded: [code] Device Manager image set, but not a valid image file disk0:/asdm-647.bin.
I have two 3750-X configured to be a stack and I am planning to re-rack these somewhere else. What I would like to know is what are the effects of having the master switch itself lose power? Does it immediately just make the member take over master (there should be no election since there are only 2 switches??) and there would be no loss of connectivity?
I have a Cisco 5505 that had its disk erased (erase:disk0) and now I am trying to load a new image (822 or 813) from a tftp server.
From the ROMMON prompt I have configured the relevant parameters and run a tftp command.
The tftp transfer seems to complete successfully but then it gets stuck on "...loading".
I have tried different versions of IOS and I always experience the same problem, even though, with older versions of IOS (7.x), the device manages to reboot itself but then it crashes with the following error:
"Error : Uncompression of the image failed. invalid compressed data--format violated"
Could it be an hardware related-issue or a licensing problem maybe? or am I missing anything obvious?
also, with regards to the license: once restored, how do I get my 50 users license back?
The customer forgot the password for the ASA SSM-20 ips module installed in ASA 5520 Fw.show module in customer FW shows it up state. I brought it to our office teat bed. here it show
ASA1# sh module Mod Card Type Model Serial No. --- -------------------------------------------- ------------------ ----------- 0 ASA 5520 Adaptive Security Appliance ASA5520-K8 JMX1022K03A 1 ASA 5500 Series Security Services Module-20 ASA-SSM-20 JAB101003C2 Mod MAC Address Range Hw Version Fw Version Sw Version

what to do with this module in my test bed.I have to take it back to the customer site to use it in their ASA itself to troubleshoot. There it the status is up and i did use all the hw-module option but no use. The version is 5.0. This module is more than 5 years old and so far no one upgrade the image. ASA 5520 running 8.2.5.
I'm running a couple of 5520 (with failover configuration) and fw 8.3.1. Everything worked fine until I try to upgrade firewall to new fw version: 8.4.1. [code]
When I try to upload new firrmware or asdm image, ASA, the appliance reboots during tftp session. I've already tried to upload new images on both appliance, or use CLI either ASDM, but the result is always the same: ASA reboots.
From my point of view, the problem isn't the image but could be the firmware I'm running, becouse using fw. 8.0.1 I was able to upalod asdm 8.3.1, but using fw 8.3.1 I can't upload the same image.
I am going to upgrade the IOS image on 6509-E SUP 2T from 15.1 to s2t54-adventerprisek9-mz.SPA.150-1.SY3.bin switch and i would like to know whether i would need to upgrade the boot loader image as well.
I'm not able to find in all the datasheets what's the default (out-of-the-box) IOS image of a WS-C4900M.When I buy a WS-C4900M I know that there is an IP-BASE IOS but which version?
On the datasheet there is a 12.2SG but is an IPBASE with SSH? W/O SSH? UPGRADE SSH? I'm trying to make a comparison between this image and a cat4500e-entservices-mz.150-2.SG2.bin (Advanced Enterprise Services) on the feature navigator to make sure the our customer need this last IOS Upgrade.
I have 4948E module switch at customer site and below is the show version output. Image on the switch is not supporting 'AUTO QoS' as i need to enable Auto Qos on it to prioritize Voice traffic. Which image supports Auto QoS feature . Image should have L3 functionality also i mean it should support Routing protocols. I tried to enable auto QoS using by configuring "QoS' globally but no luck...with existing image.

I have a small network of 4 x 3750s running routing (OSPF) which contain all company firewalls. It bridges internal trusted corporate networks (depots etc) to external untrusted networks (Internet/Datacenter networks). It sees a fairly high level of traffic running through it (it gets forwarded to firewalls at gig speed).OSPF is costed to remove asymetric routing so one 3750 is acting as primary and does most of the work. The 3750s are in area 0, and all other areas are summarised to some degree. However, CPU is running high on the 3750 when looking at the history at times: [code]
although the average is around 26% the 72hour picture would suggest that CPU is running at 100% at times. Is this an imminent concern that needs re-designing, or is this normal behaviour (SPF running for instance) that is manageable?
We've ordered a 4500 core switch and 4948 Server Farm switch for our client, but the switch box does not include a IOS image CD or anything related to IOS image and now the client is asking us why is this item missing as the IOS
