Cisco VPN :: RV082 - Can't Access IOS Via Telnet / Putty
Sep 20, 2012
I've set up this router in the office, and I can access it via PPTP without any problems from home (via windows VPN), Router is sat in DMZ with full access to the internet.
Q1,I've created a 2 phase ipsec vpn with an IKE & preshared key (AES/MD5/1), but I can't find out how to get my encrypted hash for it?also, I can't access the IOS via telnet/ putty, I found an article online explaining how to enable it via url string, but it didn't work,
Q2,I've setup the cisco client on my laptop, and working on the pcf file, without much luck.. Everytime I try to connect it get " error 412. the remote peer is no longer responding. "
With wireshark, I can see the requests been made to the router.. ( from the office )
Within my PCF file i have ...
[main]
Description=MYNAME
Host=<external IP>
AuthType=1
GroupName=vpnname
GroupPwd=<myUnEncryptedKey>
[code]....

I recently acquired a Cisco VPN 3000 Concentrator Series (fairly old hardware) without a manual, and I'm trying to figure out how to 'telnet' or browser into the router to access the IOS. The device has been reset and I am plugged into the console. I'm running Windows 7 and enabled the Win7 Telnet Client in the OS. Can any tell me how to do this or at least point me in the right direction to obtain the user manual for basic instructions?
Model number: CVPN3005-E/FE
I found the manual for it after going through some hyperlinks. But when you access the console in the Windows OS, is your network connection supposed to show disconnected, or connected but no internet access?

i have 68 sites with Routers. On each site I have one equipment DIRECTLY connected to the Router that needs to be accessed by telnet port 23.
I have 15 off this sites that the access via telnet to the equipment’s connected after the routers are not working. These sites are using Router Cisco 3925. The other sites that are working are using Routers Cisco MWR 2921.
Both router models are running the same configuration with no filter on it.
The equipment’s after the routers are all accessed directly via telnet without the router. If the router is directly plugged to the equipment the 15 sites with Router Cisco 3925 are not accessed via telnet.
There is any bug related with the IOS version that Router Cisco 3925 is using?:
Cisco IOS Software, C3900 Software (C3900-UNIVERSALK9-M), Version 15.1(2)T2, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1).ROM: System Bootstrap, Version 15.0(1r)M8, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1).System image file is "flash0:c3900-universalk9-mz.SPA.151-2.T2.bin"

We've got a SG200-18 switch that is to be used as a workgroup switch in our environment (SW Version 1.1.1.8). Working with CLI on big and mid-range Cisco-gear over the past two decades I'm having a hard time figuring out the following on the SG200:
o) I want to change the Management-VLAN from the default "1" to the management-VLAN used in our environment. Sure enough I created that vlan in the SG200-config, however when it comes to assigning the management-IP and VLAN for the management interface in the corresponding pulldown under "IPv4 interface -> Management VLAN" the only thing selectable is the default "1". (see screenshots enclosed)So how do I set a management VLAN different from 1?
o) How do I enable telnet/ssh-access to the SG200-18 - I'd be far more comfortable with a CLI-environment?

I want to remotely access Cisco 500 switches via TELNET and WEB BASED from a server. I dont know the ip addresses for Cisco 500 switches which are configured as backbone which the ip address assigned on the network is static ip address. Specifically I want to get their configuations inorder to get their specified assigned vlans on the network. I know the ip addresses for their specified cisco 500 switches' gateways. I know that cisco 500 switches can be accesses through web. Is there other ways to solve the problem apart from going onsite and connect to the cisco 500 switches using network cable since cisco 500 swithes dont have console ports?

In trying to make sure it was NOT wide open to the internet (amongst many other problems of setting it up, which I ,may address later if I can actually connect to the thing ever again) I told it to only accept connections from a range of address inside the LAN. Now it wont accept anything except telnet from the LAN.Short of wiping out 6 hours of trial and error configuration and resetting it, are there any other options I can exercise via the telnet interface?

We recently moved our network over to RV082 router and its working great, well now we want to take advantage of VPN for our sales staff.
I was able to setup the VPN and using a PC at a remote office I can launch the quick connect and it connects right away, RV0 even shows the user connected. However the user cannot ping anything on our network via name or IP, connect to any resources, etc...
My understanding was when the client VPN would connect the user would get an IP from DHCP (this is on our Server 2008 DC) and they would be using that address, but when I run IPCONFIG on the client PC they just have there standard IP from remote office.

I know this *should* be simple but having a devil of a time getting it to work.
I have 2 routers. Both have a static ip. Each is setup for a different private subnet. At the moment they are not connected to each other. Consider this setup (made up numbers obviously):
RV016
has 13 lan ports, 2 internet ports, 1 dmz port
Internet port: 10.10.10.10
[Code].....
I'd like clients on the rv082 lan to be able to access the printer on the rv016 lan, and use the rv016 as an alternate internet connection (optional). I would prefer the rv016 client not be able to access the rv082.

I have a customer that has a Cisco 2900 Series ISR on his Headquarters, and has some branches with RV082s.We have VPN Client configured on the 2900 ISR Router and we can connect remotely using the VPN Client to the Headquarters (192.168.1.0) however we can't reach the branches subnets (192.168.2.0, 192.168.3.0, etc.)... we found out that in the RV082 you need to specify the secure traffic as a destination, but in only supports one network (192.168.1.0 or Headquarters in this case), we can't specify the VPN Client pool defined on the ISR so it can reach the incoming VPN Clients.Is there any way to accomplish this? We need to access the branches subnets when connecting using VPN to the 2900 ISR.

I have a new (linksys/cisco) RV082 Router that I have just set up and everything is working except that I can't configure it to allow public access to our web server. I have tried configuring port forwarding under the Forwarding and UPnP menus and still no access from the outside. I have tried accessing it from the outside using both the URL and the IP address and still no access. I have checked with my ISP and no ports are being blocked from their end. I can ping my public static IP from the outside with no problem. The documentation that I've found for this router refers to a menu that is different from the menu of this router and refers to an Applications & Gaming menu which isn't there, but it seems like the port forwarding should handle this.
I have a static public IP, a static internal IP for the server. I have set the port forwarding and UpNP to point to the IP of the server using port 80 and a secondary forward to port 8080. There are no issues accessing the website from within the LAN.

I have recenly installed a RV082 with two ADSL modems connected to Broadband lines. Access to our networks is done via VPN accounts configured on Windows Vista laptops. The VPN network works fine and everyone has access to their network data and the Intranet/Internet.
I'm having problems with connecting a network printer to access over the VPN. We have managed to get a IBM1532 network printer working using the following network details by allowing the IP address of the printer through our VPN network/firewall.
We had to connect a Xerox C2424 workstation printer on site, so we configured the device using the same network details as the IBM printer, connected it to one of the available ports on one of the Broadband modems but we could not get the printer to be seen or connected to using this setup.
However I connect my own Home Laptop PC configured with the IP port settings above directly to the same modem as the Xerox printer this works but only after we changed the IP gateway address on the printer to match the modem.
If I switch on DHCP on the printer it finds the IP gateway address of the RV082 but will not allow us to send anything to it.As the ADSL lines are on a Dynamic IP rather than Static.

I have found numerous posts discussing this but have yet to find a solution. I have an RV082 with firmware 2.0.0. 2.0.0.19-tm and I need a way to limit the incoming smtp traffic to just the spam filtering company.I have a port forwarding rule to forward WAN1 port 25 traffic to 192.168.1.10.I tried to add an access rule to deny all port 25 and then added one to allow WAN1 port 25 source <spam company> destination 192.168.1.10The RV082 log screen shows the traffic allowed but it does not work. If I uncheck the 'enable' box on the DENY port 25 rule email is still blocked. Only when I uncheck the 'enable' box on the ALLOW rule does email start flowing again.

I am deploying a small wireless LAN (192.168.1.xxx) at a remote site and would like to access a PC at LAN IP address 192.168.1.2 across the Internet via TeamViewer so as to monitor devices on that LAN. The wireless LAN uses about 12 Cisco Aironet 1310 bridges in a ROOT-NONROOT (I guess this is point-to-multipoint?) configuration.Our ISP has given us a single static WAN IP address, subnet mask, gateway, and two DNS server addresses.
My intent was to assign our static WAN IP address from the ISP to our RV082 router, plug the LAN devices (including the PC at 1.2) into the RV082, and then use Network Address Translation (NAT) to forward TeamViewer traffic to the PC at 1.2. But the RV082's user manual says NOT to use the router's WAN IP address in the NAT table.So I'm confused as to how to send remote TeamViewer traffic to the PC inside my LAN. Is NAT not the way to do this? Should I be using port forwarding instead?I guess another way of skinning this cat would be to put a second NIC in the PC and let the second NIC have the WAN IP address so that it would be the first point of contact from outside, but that defeats some of my purposes for having the RV082 in the first place.

I have a RV082 and several of my remote laptops cannot access my server using its domain name. It can be accessed using its internal ip address. The issue is that you can log onto the server using remote access and the ip however you cannot use any shortcuts using the domain name. You can see the server with the domin name however no access path is available. This is only on a few remote user laptops. Others work perfectly.

Cannot connect to ACS device using telnet IP: port 1812? Seems it is using this port config by default.Is it because of the port it's trying to use? Is there a way of changing the port? If so, where does one do this in the ACS device?I have two 4400 series WLC's one is on the same network segment as the ACS, I can authenticate through the ACS on this one. The other WLC at a different location, cannot authenticate through the ACS.

I have a 891 router I have been testing some things on. I have been able to successfully telnet to it in the past with no problems. Just yesterday I was trying to set an interface to have an IP of 10.10.10.2 which I realized was an IP I had forgot to exlcude from DHCP and it was handed out to the computer I was using to telnet in. So I wrote in the exlcude commands and did an ipconfig -release ipconfig -renew on my PC that had the 10.10.10.2 IP. After the renew I was given 10.10.10.7 (put in a few more excludes).However the release dropped my telnet connection and afterwards I was completely unable to telnet in, getting the error that says I cannot open the connection on port 23. I had made some changes to my entire config beforehand which had it switch to use a new public IP. I never saved the changes and did a hard reset by unplugging the router to get my old config back and see if I could telnet after that. Still could not get in, same error. Well I went through and remade my entire config to use the new public IP. My 10.10.10.7 PC can access the internet, DNS, ping the router, all just fine. Still can't telnet. I remade my line/vty config and made sure it matched up with a config I had on another router. Still can't telnet. Last thing I did was go in and manually clear all open line connections. All that is left is an idle 0 con 0 line that it wont let me close. Still can't telnet.What the **** is going on with this thing? I am completely at a loss to explain why I cant telnet. It must be something in my ACLs that I am missing?
