Cannot get the internet through the ethernet plug, im missing the ethernet network controller , and cant find the driver at the dell downloads , is it that i have to get it off my windows xp disk
View 1 RepliesI have installed a fresh windows xp pro. os and downloaded a list of recommended drivers from Dell's driver page but some of the drivers will not load and I get the error "no Intel adapter on board." I am not sure what to look for at this point. I also downloaded a 32 bit gen adapter from Intel but it wont load. I could use a push in the right direction so I can get back to getting my homework done.

I've had the computer for 5 years, and have always connected to the internet using wireless with no problem. Just moved to a new place, don't have a router yet, and now when I try to connect via the ethernet cable my internet is sooo slow, taking about a minute to load a page. My roommate's computer runs great using the ethernet.

It seems as if the Ethernet adapter on the laptop is not connected. I've tried troubleshooting by going into "Control Panel, Network Connections". The Ethernet icon says "Network Cable Unplugged, Realtex PCIe FE Family Controller".
I've tried the same Ethernet connection with another Dell laptop and it works just fine.
As I said, it seems as if the Ethernet adapter on my laptop is not hooked up at all.
we just reinstall window xp because of some viruses. now that we put in our wireless notebook card window xp say ' Found New Hardware'
and under Hardware, Device manager, it pop up a yellow question mark and it say ' Ethernet Controller'. we already install the chipset driver and the 3com in the dell download pages for the 8200. i read some where that the 8200 come with the broadcom bcm5701 ethernet controller but im not sure.
I would like to connect my playstation 3 to the internet from my laptop which is connected to a guest network (college dorm: I don't have access to a network key - I use my student ID and password at the launch of the browser to access the internet). View 1 Replies View RelatedIt's a Dell Inspiron N4050, running Windows 7 Home Basic, Service Pack 1. I haven't been able to connect to the internet via an ethernet cable nor wirelessly. The wireless indicator is on (duh!) and the ethernet cable works with a PC sitting next to the laptop. I have a ARRIS modem (yes, the third world) and it works fine wirelessly with other devices here such as phones and laptops. When I plug in the ethernet cable it tells me that it can't identify the network. I do see all the wireless connections but it's the same, unable to identify network. I've tired all sorts of things, having studied computer science myself I'm not a total beginner, but the OS is in Spanish so it's really hard to make sense of things. If I can't fix this soon I will be forced to reformat the computer. The pros of doing that is that I will get the OS in English and lose all the rubbish Dell pre-installs on their products. The setback is that I won't have the drivers installed for the NIC and other things (although they should be on the optical disc that came with the notebook). Perhaps the problem is the modem, maybe I need a driver for it. Somehow I don't think that is the case because I brough my own hard drive from my country of origin and I put it inside the PC and it connected instantly with the internet via the modem.

Need Ethernet driver. Inspiron 2200 BFNQV81. Actually need all drivers however I have found some. Dell is very lacking in supporting this unit. The service tag returns a desk-top, and not many drivers. What was listed/installed was incorrect. The unit got stuck on stupid, display reverted back to 400x600, speed problems as well as many other problems. Unit is very slow now however somewhat usable. .Recovery disk would be nice. Currently utilizing external Wifi hardware and software. Have same problem w/ other Dell units.

So my grandpas Dell insperon 6000 crashed and now he cant connect threw a wired connection but he can connect threw a wireless it says the drivers missing i tryed to just reinstall but windows couldnt find it and now idk how to get it to install and also the video controller and vga whatever them are also are missing im not worried about them but i would like the wired connection to work

Recently Virgin installed their latest Hub / wireless router for me and since then i cannot make a wireless connection to the internet. Before that I use to be able to connect to my old router (Linksys Wireless-G 2.4Ghz) no problem! I can connect via the ethernet cable no problems. The WiFi is on and even when I disconnect the ethernet cable, the bottom right hand corner symbol says that I am connected but I cannot load the internet and keeps giving me this message:"The URL is not valid and cannot be loaded."The Virgin Media support team ran a check and told me that my wirless adaptor is out of date and needs updating so I went on Dell Support, downloaded and installed the follwoing drivers but still no joy!

I have also ran a wireless WLAN utility diagnostic check through the control panel. In the Connection diagnostics, the Gateway IP Ping 'failed' and I think as result of that the Internet IP Ping, DNS IP ping and internet website domain name ping all 'skipped' but all else passed.
I recently sent in my Inspiron M5040 laptop in to get repaired because it got severely water damaged and when i got it back i culdnt connect to the internet wirelessly so i tried pluggin in my ethernet cable an that wouldnt work either so i played around with my computer a little bit and saw that my ethernet and network controller drivers weren properly installed. How do i get those two drivers with no internet connect? Is there any way i can get a disk mailed to me with all of the up to date drivers i ned or do i need to ship my laptop back in to dell?

I use a hardwired Ethernet adapter to connect to the internet from home. I cannot connect to the internet on the N5110 but can connect on my desktop PC. I look at the hardware device manager and cannot find an Ethernet adapter. This leads me to believe something happened to the card. It should show up in the hardware profile.
