I have a Dell Inspiron 1420. It had a bad NVIDIA card so I replaced the motherboard with a VOSTRO 1400. I moved my Hard drive, memory and wireless card to the new motherboard. I have all the drivers in and working except the Network Controller, therfore no internet. Where can I get the correct driver for this?
View 2 Repliesbut having trouble connecting wirelessly to the internet from my Inspiron 1420. I can see my routernetwork and the signal strength is good, but when I try to connect it says that it cannot connect. When I press connect diagnose problem it quickly opens a small window stating that windows could not connect to "Kat-wifi" (my network. I have tried rebooting the computer as well as rebooting the router by uplugging and waiting the 30 sec to 1 min and then retrying but to no avail. When I connect the computer to an ethernet cable I AM able to connect to the interent. I even atempted to manually run a test with the wireless and it passed everything except the PING test. it stated NO RESPONSE DHCP SERVER. I tried then to go to the screen of Wireless Network Conenction Properties and checked the IP Version 4 (TCP/IPv4 and both the obtain IP address and Obtain DNS server automatically are already on.

Replaced the HDD in my wife's Inspiron 1420, Vista, Intel dual core T7250s
Broadcom 802.11n adapter
Kept all the disks shipped with the lappy, Prepped the HD per the media rules, loaded windows and the mediadirect and the driver resource CD.. they all had autoexecs and seem to run fine. Failed to connect to the net.. checked it out on device mgr, found the code 10 fail.. All other drivers seemed to have loaded..
tried to update the driver.. it said it already had the correct driver. - fail
DLed the Broadcom driver to a thumb and installed it - no difference. Rebooted.. several times during all this.
Read here it might be install order - thought I might try it manually. Looked for Intel T7250 drivers.. "not currently available" here.
I have a new brand dell inspiron 1525 laptop and everytime i boot i get a message "Dell wireless WLAN card wireless network controller stopped working and was closed.
A problem caused the application to stop working correctly.Windows will notify you if a solution is available.I use windows vista premium and dell wireless 1390 802.11g.
I regularly get this message (but not everytime) when I start up Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit.
"Dell Wireless WLAN Card Wireless Network Controller stopped working and was closed.a problem caused the application to stop working correctly. Windows will notify you if a solution is available."
Then I get this following message:"Solution Found: Address a problem with your WLAN card.Your WLAN card has stopped working properly. This is a network adapter that allows your computer to connect to a wireless network. To find out if an updated version of your WLAN card is available, contact your device or computer manufacturer."The strange thing is even though I get this message I am still able to connect to the internet via a wireless network. So there is no problem as such it is just annoying to keep getting this message when Windows starts up.I have checked on the DELL Support website and I do have the most up-to-date driver already (Or I think I do).

Setting up a wireless router but now im starting to think the reason the connection is so bad is because of my computer. I have a dell inspiron 1420 and sometimes the internet is fine and then it doesnt work at all and says cannont connect to primary dns server. Also i ran a diagnostics on my wlan wireless card and it says gateway ip ping, internet ip ping, and dns ip ping all failed. The wireless says it has 5 bars but I usually have to disconnect and reconnect for it to work and it only works for about 15 seconds before it slows down again

I went to the Dell Drivers and Downloads site in order to get a driver for my bluetooth. The driver I found was C:DELLDRIVERSR140135, I checked the compatibility and it is supposed to be compatible with my system and Windows Vista 32 bit. However, whenever I try to install it, a window pops up instructing me to push Fn+F2 or the Radio on/off switch. Fn+F2 does not work and there is no radio switch. I tried to start over from the beginning, now it's telling my I need Windows Vista to install this driver ... I am using Windows Vista. I checked the Device Manager ... no exlamation points or question marks.

it uses more of cpu resources (as seen from task manager) and causes the active window to become non active.
this makes it frustrating to work, means I am typing some username or anything in IE or Chrome or anywhere else and it suddenly becomes non active window (non selected as if some thing else is selected) and again becomes active in few seconds or I have to click anywhere in the window to make it active.
some times a pop up opens that "DW WLAN NETWORK CONTROLLER HAS STOPPED WORKING" send this information to microsoft.
This happens randomly and I'm not able to figure out when this thing occur, means I'm running on battery or power supply.
I have not used wifi on this laptop and I don't have wifi modem. I always use internet through ethernet cable.
One more thing whenever this problem occurs, I stop all the process related to WLAN in task manager and the problem of active-non active window and popup message disappears.
I have tried to uninstall and install the network adapter. also tried latest drivers from dell website.
I am having a problem with my network controller after upgrading to XP Professional. The Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller driver (I've tried both the download and CD) works fine for the Card itself, but it doesn't work for the Network Controller. When I first restart after running the installation program included with the driver, XP tells me that a new Network Controller device has been found. As I go through the driver installation for that device it fails, and I receive a message telling me that the Hardware Update Wizard "Cannot Install this Hardware...The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software." The device then appears in the Device Manager under the Other Devices section with a yellow question mark and exclamation point indicating trouble.

everything was fine until yesterday...started up laptop and noticed the network connection icon in my task bar hd the "red-x" through it...i knew something was up cuz i had ethernet hardline in to my machine. after I had inspected every possible home netwrok issue...i noticed it was more pc related.now i go to my device manager to check my network adapters..... there are NONE listed...i go to "View" to find that unhide all devices and note there are only wireless drivers in this device and NOT the typical "realtek-8111E" controller that SHOULD be listed.
So far...i have done these steps
1) ensured BIOS (my cmos is phoenix tianos build) lan settings are correct- done
2) Removed RAM from slots
3) Removed Cmos Battery
4) waited for 15 minutes.it is still not working ....a i even tried a clean install of win 7 and that doesnt work?
i just reinstalled windows on my laptop and i figured i could just download drivers from the dell website. after following the installation order specified on the website.. installing first the NSS and then the chipset, etc.. I realized there wasn't a driver for the NIC on the website. i also noticed that the steps didn't include a step for ethernet drivers, so i replaced the NIC step with installing the broadcom integrated controller. unfortunately, after completing the rest of the installation steps, my Network Controller driver is still not installed (looking in the device manager), a hardwire connection through the ethernet cable gives me "limited or no connectivity" and there is no wireless capability whatsoever.

I have a Dell Inspiron N5030 laptop that I just installed a new hard drive in. Prior to the new install had no issues with wireless connectivity, now I have none. I have researched this issue for the past three days without success.
I also installed a new wireless card which still did not solve my problem. As I said, this is a Dell Inspiron N5030. Operating system is Windows 7 32-bit The network adapter is an Atheros AR8152 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller.In the Device Manager the Network Controller is listed under "Other Devices" The new wireless card installed is listed as a DNXA-95-D1. That is really the only information I can give you about this card.
Side note: I can get on the internet if I hard wire in, just can't access internet wirelessly.
I can't find the driver for the Network Controller on a Inspiron 1150, I just did a clean installation of WinXP, I used the Dell CD-ROM that came with the piece... I searched every CD that came with the darn thing and I still cant find the driver I need... In the device manager the " Network Controller ", has a question mark by it meaning it doesnt have the driver installed

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently reinstalled windows 7 on my dad laptop after he <ADMIN NOTE: Profanity removed as per TOU> it up beyond repair. After installing the appropriate drivers I still had no detection on my w lan adapter so I checked out the device list, and it says I'm missing drivers for two things: one is the network controller, the other is just listed as an unknown device.
I already installed every driver for the appropriate devices on the laptop, in the correct order, or as i could best manage it, but still no dice. The only network driver on the disk for my inspiron is one for an Ethernet controller.
My computer used to work fine with wifi but all of a sudden the wifi is not working. At the bottom of the screen I get the bluetooth icon and the little icon with green tick that comes up when you plug in a usb keeps on flashing. The computer show wireless networks available but the next second they disappear. I have installed the driver from dell website, reinstalled the windows and the driver couple of time but the problem persists.
I tried to locate the driver and the hardware and when I go to Device Manager the list keeps on refreshing every 10 seconds.
Under the device manager Network Adapters I can see Broadcom 440x10/100 Integrated Controller and Microsoft ISATAP Adapter 2 (the later keeps coming and disappearing every 10 seconds)
Under the other devices I see yellow semi colon next to Base Sys Device (3 times) and Network controller.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI now have two identically configured (same hardware and software) Inspiron 1420 (new) and I can't get the Wireless Activity Indicator light to come on. I've talked with Tech Support three times (Level 1 and 2). They thought it was the switch ans sent an in-home technician to replace the bottom casing of my first unit. When the Technician realized that the switch was fine and the indicator (LED light) was not coming on, I requested a new replacement unit. The second unit arrived with the same non-functioning LED. As I mentioned in a previous post, I've gone to Staples office supply store that now sells Dell 1521 & 1721 laptops and both store display model's LED activity indicator lights up when both units are off and the switch is pushed to the ">>" position. Having already insured (with Tech Support walking me through it) that Quickset as well as the BIOS have the Wi Fi Catcher enabled and Wireless settings enabled. There are no problems connecting to wireless networks when the laptop is on and the switch does turn wireless On and Off. Question to all Inspiron 1420 owners, how many of you can get your wireless activity indicator to light up when your laptop is OFF? If enough owners respond that their LED indicators don't work, maybe we can get Dell to admit a design defect. At this point, I don't know what else to do to get Dell to fix this issue and I assume they won't keep sending me new replacement laptops until I find one whose LED works.
