I recently received a new XPS 8500 with Windows 8 installed however the wifi refuses to connect (other devices have no issues on the same wifi network). Is this a known issue with the current drivers for windows 8?
View 1 RepliesHave had my XPS One 27 for a few days and the 1703 wireless card has cut my download speeds more than half. Whereas I was getting anywhere from 75 to 80 Mbps on my previous machine with a b/g/n/ wireless card, I am now only able to get 25 to 30 Mbps on this new machine. Nothing has changed on my router, I just plugged in the XPS One 27 and it automatically found the router and I logged in without a problem. The router is the WNDR 3700. I am on a 105Mbps tier and need my download speed restored to what I used to get. Is there a "tweak" or is there a better wi-fi card I can install?

Do the Dell Wireless 1506 or 1703 cards support 802.11n over 5GHz?
The documentation I found indicate support for 802.11n over 2.4GHz but I have not found definitive confirmation that 5GHz is supported.
I run a website for a local football team using Serif Webplus X6. On uploading the weekly updates of the site the process seems ok for a few minutes with progress bars showing uploading of files but then it all stops and I have to reset my wireless network adapter 1703 and it continues but I can't just leave it to work on its own. Device manager says that the drivers are up to date.

My home network is now open and unencrypted (running G), but it still wont connect. However, I installed a USB wireless adapter, and I can connect without issue. So I dont think its a firewall, etc. I think its something with the built in adapter...
After checking out the device manager, it looks like the laptops using a "DW1501 WLAN Half-Mini Card". I went to the downloads page through dell.com to update my drivers, but Im still having issues.Im running Windows 7 64 bit.
I am having trouble connecting to my wireless network sometimes it shows up sometimes it does not but when it is there it sometimes has full bars and others has none. I have tried resolving the the issues through windows and it either says windows cannot resolve your wireless connectivity issue or it says to unplug router for 10 seconds blah blah blah. sometimes it says there is an issue at the access point or wireless adapter. It is really getting frustrating and everything else that is wireless works in my house. I have a dell studio 1745 and windows 7 on it.

It will see networks, I'll enter the security key, and it will tell me it cannot connect. This has happened at my office, at coffee shops, and at friends houses. So I try all the suggested troubleshooting steps and end up in some infinite loop of complete unhelpfulness. I am not a developer, hacker. or other IT professional so I have no idea what half the stuff they are telling me to do even means and most of the stuff (resetting routers etc) is not something I have the capability of doing anyway. My other computers (an ancient Toshiba running XP and a Dell Latitude running windows 7) connect with no issues. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell M4500 that does not connect to the internet. I have called Dell and they have replaced the motherboard but it does not work. They told me that it is a software problem. It suddenly stopped working, both the cable and wireless card.
The SIM card work and I can connect to internet with that. The LAN card is active but the computer symbol in the right bottom corner is having the read cross over it. When I try ipconfig the only card that is listed is the SIM and bluetooth. There must be another solutiuon to this than reinstalling.
How can I fix this without reinstalling Win 7? It is like the PC does not recognize the cards anymore...
I know the wifi in the laptop works, i know the laptop has no issues.I know this because i switched my hard drive from my 1330 to this laptop which is also a 1330...connects and works fine.Wifi IS turned on In device manager the driver is ok no exclamation marks anywhere When i try and connect with the ethernet i get identifying no network access, then it says currently connected to unidentified network, no network access! You cannot browse.So that being said it must be in the setting with windows 7.I uninstalled and reinstalled the wifi driver it did not make any difference.I also tried using a Ethernet connection and it would not connect either.When i use the win 7 trubleshooter it states a network cable is not properly plugged in or may be broken.Remember this laptop functions fine with my hard drive in it with windows xp.

Recently had to reinstall windows vista on my inspiron 1501. All is okay now except I cannot connect to the internet. Technically I am connected to the wireless network but I cant get on the web. I have Windows 7 on Dell N4110. I am unable to connect to my netgear router wirelessly. If i restart the router, it may work for some time but then again gets disconnected. However, i can connect to it through wired connection. Others in my apartment can connect to the router. They dont have windows 7 (they use vista, ubuntu). Its working fine for them. I have tried many things like updating the router, disabling firewall, changing wireless security settings, updating windows but none of them seem to work. My friend who has the same laptop also cant connect when I cant. As soon as my connection is disconnected, his also disconnects.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI also am using a Dell Inspiron N5010 with Windows 7 and have trouble connecting to Netgear WNR 1000. I have an Apple that has no trouble making that connection. I have spent over $100 to a local computer repair company trying unsuccessfully trying to fix the problem and $129 to Dell Technical Services with equal lack of success and then was told by a technical support person that they had fixed it, that they would not provide futher work to fix it. The fact is that the error occurred again immediately the moment the Dell technician hung up. I spent the following day just running internet on a cable connection for about 8 hoooting.ble shurs trouble free and then switched it to wireless, which failed in about 10 minutes as my own troubleshooting. This made it clear to me that the problem was only in the wireless connection.
They problem is the Blue Screen error time message that pops up at random times any time the computer is operating on wireless. At other timerred again immediatelyre occuthe failuat s it operates normally. The Blue screen error causes the computer to shut down and restart. The only solution I have found is to return the Netgear router to the store where I bought it (within 30 days of purchase) and pay the additional cost of a different router.
Service personell should at least be kept aware or incompatibilites, explained or unexplained, between particular router models and particular computer models so as to save this waste of time and money. I have lost about 3 weeks of useful time on this computer in addition to over $200 in direct costs attempting to find a fix.

I finally got the adapter installed along with its device drivers and other required software such as IE6 and I have it connected to the router in my house. Would it work if I bought a new router or is there some kind of thing I need to punch into the Internet Protocol properties like you would on later OS'?

I have a XPS8500 with Win7 64bit and last week entered internet via wlan without problems. After an automated update I get a "limited connectivity" despite excellent signal strength. If I restore the system to 15:16 settings, everything works fine. However after a restart I am confronted with "limited connectivity" again.
