Dell :: Reinstalled Windows Now Can't Connect To Internet With Inspiron 1501
Jan 9, 2009
Recently had to reinstall windows vista on my inspiron 1501. All is okay now except I cannot connect to the internet. Technically I am connected to the wireless network but I cant get on the web. Im going around in circles following error msgs but they all seem to point to an issue with DNS. Ive run cmd to save time.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop that I want to connect to my Belkin Play N600 wireless network. My laptop is connected to the network (I think), but it won't get internet. When I connect to the wi-fi with my iPod Touch, it works fine, no problems. If I connect the laptop to the router with an ethernet cable everything is fine and dandy, but when I unplug the cable it isn't.

I have recently had a Dell Inspiron 1501 come in to my possession and the Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Ethernet will not connect to a tested work wired network. It acts like is you disable a network adapter in windows 7 on a laptop the device is disabled but it is.I have uninstall and reinstalled the Operating System and Drivers several times and these is no change. The Operating System in Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise and there should by no compatibly issues as they are pretty well the same system. The Intergated Broadcom PXE Boot Will not connect to a LAN network either but when I run Dell's Broadcom Diagnostic everything runs fine when operating?

I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop. I have a problem accessing my home network which is not showing up under the "Connect to a Network " list. I am able to see my neighbours' networks and can access my own network with my phone, tablet etc. The driver is up to date according to Windows and is functioning correctly. I reinstalled the OS yesterday and the wireless was working fine last night. To the best of my knowledge, nothing has been altered.

On receiving my new dell vostro 3550, I reinstalled the windows 7 cd that came with the computer.
Before I did, I had internet connection, now I don't.
It says it finds no device. All i did was install windows. What else do I need to do for it to recognise the devices are on the system?

I reinstalled windows XP on my computer using the install disk I got with my computer. However, now I can't get on the internet on that computer to update the drivers, and I can't find anything that'll let me do it without internet.I don't have an independent network card, just what's built into my motherboard. Haven't been able to find the driver for it, only programs that will find it for me, using said internet.

computer suddenly would not acquire internet wired or wireless while at university. Local techies tried to fix but no luck. I'm trying to fix this but nothing has worked yet. Seems to be a problem aquiring an ip address. I've matched all the settings from my other dell laptop which connects no problem.

Recently got my Inspiron 5010N, only issue Im having is using the built in wireless hardware. I can browse and find networks, I just cant connect to any. My home network is now open and unencrypted (running G), but it still wont connect. However, I installed a USB wireless adapter, and I can connect without issue. So I dont think its a firewall, etc. I think its something with the built in adapter...
After checking out the device manager, it looks like the laptops using a "DW1501 WLAN Half-Mini Card". I went to the downloads page through dell.com to update my drivers, but Im still having issues.Im running Windows 7 64 bit.

(After rechecking my OS Resource CD, i realized there was a second section on it that had the last few drivers xD) Ok, so i recently posted about an OS problem that was solved, however, after installation i cannot connect to the internet on my PC.i reinstalled the drivers and all, but it doesn't connect (all wires connected and in place)do i need to do something in the computer to connect to the internet? When I check ipconfig in the cmd prompt it jsut says "Windows IP Configuration" and no information appears after that.
Also when i check the device manager , my network adapter is installed but there are 4 yellow questions marks on:
"ethernet controller"
"multimedia audio controller"
"PCI device"
SM Bus Controller"

I re formatted the hard drive, reinstalled Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2.I go through the setup process and everything like normal. I plug my ethernet cable into the back of the computer, and the other end into my router so I can use a wired connection.I go to network settings there are no networks available, so I go to my device manager to look for missing drivers, I installed the Ethernet Controller driver. I look at my manager again and under "Network Adapters" I have Intel PRO/100 VE Network Connection. I also am using a Dell Inspiron N5010 with Windows 7 and have trouble connecting to Netgear WNR 1000. I have an Apple that has no trouble making that connection. I have spent over $100 to a local computer repair company trying unsuccessfully trying to fix the problem and $129 to Dell Technical Services with equal lack of success and then was told by a technical support person that they had fixed it, that they would not provide futher work to fix it. The fact is that the error occurred again immediately the moment the Dell technician hung up. I spent the following day just running internet on a cable connection for about 8 hoooting.ble shurs trouble free and then switched it to wireless, which failed in about 10 minutes as my own troubleshooting. This made it clear to me that the problem was only in the wireless connection.
They problem is the Blue Screen error time message that pops up at random times any time the computer is operating on wireless. At other timerred again immediatelyre occuthe failuat s it operates normally. The Blue screen error causes the computer to shut down and restart. The only solution I have found is to return the Netgear router to the store where I bought it (within 30 days of purchase) and pay the additional cost of a different router.
Service personell should at least be kept aware or incompatibilites, explained or unexplained, between particular router models and particular computer models so as to save this waste of time and money. I have lost about 3 weeks of useful time on this computer in addition to over $200 in direct costs attempting to find a fix.

I have been expiriencing some connection problems lately. I noticed it after I reinstalled xp on one of my computers. Here is the issue: I have 2 desktop pc's using a modem that goes to a router. From the router the cables go to each computer. Before I did the reinstall I had made a home network so I could access files from each computer. I also have a laptop that I connect with using the network i created. Now after the reinstall of xp, the connections seems to not work, then work, then not work. My other desktop works like normal as well as the laptop.I can even see the name of my network when I connect through my laptop. Now I can't remember how to add my computer back into the network.

I reformatted my HDD (needed to do that anyway) and re-installed Windows 7 and all drivers (Chipset 1st) from my Dell CD after messing up a recovery test.
Everything seemed fine. But now, when I am surfing the Internet, I sometimes lose the connection. The icon in the Taskbar has a yellow exclamation point. (This does not happen in Slackware on the same machine, just in Windows 7.)
The first time this happened, I couldn't ping my router, so I checked all cables, cable modem, and router. But they were all fine and my other (really old desktop running Puppy Linux) was still connected fine and could surf to new web pages.
I did "ipconfig /release" and "ipconfig /renew" on the Dell in Windows 7 and the NIC got the correct IP address and gateway. Now I could ping the router, but I could not ping the Internet, which didn't make any sense, since the other computer was accessing the Internet just fine on the same router! (No IP address confilict exists, and gateway was correct on both machines.) I tried updating the driver, but no new drivers were found. This first time, the issue was resolved by rebooting Windows 7. I also unchecked the setting to turn off the NIC to save power. (I just checked the USB hubs per another post, and it's also unchecked.)
The second time this happened, "ipconfig /renew" failed! I set everything manually (including DNS servers), and on reboot, it still wasn't working. I did a complete shutdown of the computer and startup, now it works again.
So here I am looking for a new driver (64-bit, signed). Not only is there not a new driver...they don't even list the current driver! The only one listed is from March 2010, my driver is June 2011. Current driver is version 7.46.610.2011. Where is there a newer Realtek driver? And why are this things so buggy more than a year after 7 came out, especially if these are supposedly signed by Microsoft?

I have an Inspiron 518 running Windows Vista. I was having so many problems with the computer that I did a complete manual re-install of Windows. When I completed this (and I tried it twice) the system won't recognize any internet connections. I changed none of the wiring (I have an ethernet cable connection).

My computer is a Dell inspiron 6000. It's old and slow but has never had any trouble connecting to the Internet until now. I just moved to a new house so I deleted all old networks and tried to connect to the new wifi, which works on my roomates laptop and on my iPhone. I click connect and it says waiting for connection and then prompts me with "windows is unable to connect to the selected network. The network may no longer be in range. " but tjis network is at full strength and at the top of my networks in range list.

I have had the Dell Inspiron N4110 for about 2 months now, and up until about a week ago I had no problems, but now I can only connect to the internet for short periods of time. I have restored my computer to factory new, re-installed windows, turned of the power management in the driver, uninstalled and re-installed driver, and just about everything else I can think of but I keep losing my internet. Also I have 2 other laptops, 2 xboxes, a desktop, and a few smartphones that all connect just fine. Here's my ipconfig /all.
