Jun 22, 2007I set up my daughter's Dell laptop last year to our WRT54G wireless router and I'm trying to connect to our wireless network now with another laptop (a new Dell) and can't find (or remember) my security code or pass phrase. Is there any place on the old laptop that I can access this info? How can I configure the new laptop without this info?

Jan 31, 2013I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop. I have a problem accessing my home network which is not showing up under the "Connect to a Network " list. I am able to see my neighbours' networks and can access my own network with my phone, tablet etc. The driver is up to date according to Windows and is functioning correctly. I reinstalled the OS yesterday and the wireless was working fine last night. To the best of my knowledge, nothing has been altered.

It acts like is you disable a network adapter in windows 7 on a laptop the device is disabled but it is.I have uninstall and reinstalled the Operating System and Drivers several times and these is no change.The Operating System in Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise and there should by no compatibly issues as they are pretty well the same system.The Intergated Broadcom PXE Boot Will not connect to a LAN network either but when I run Dell's Broadcom Diagnostic everything runs fine when operating?

Feb 20, 2011My wireless is connected, but I get page cannot be displayed when I go to the internet. I have all the correct wireless settings, IP address, etc. I have tried to connect by ethernet and then internet works fine. I have done a million different troubleshooting steps. I have other computers using the same router and they all work fine. The laptop that is not connecting is an Inspiron 1501 and it is windows Vista. My internet suport it must be in my Laptop.

Aug 11, 2012My Inspiron 600M laptop running XP - SP3 connects fine to my wireless network when using WEP but refuses to connect when using WPA2. I have Verizon FiOS with an Actiontec router (MI424WR - Rev. I). Googling this issue produces lots of older posts about the need for SP3 vs. SP2, but not much else. Should I look into updating the laptop's driver? If so, how? I tried creating a custom password (key) with fewer digits.
I'm also not thrilled about the wireless speed I'm getting on this laptop -- about 6 Mbps even when it's right next to the router. (The desktop, with a wired connection to the router, gets 25.) (1) Could the two issues be related? One tech rep assured me that WPA2 would greatly increase my network's range and speed, but other people deny this. (2) Is this just due to the Inspiron's older wireless receiver, or is there something else I could tweak to improve my speed?

Sep 22, 2011Recently i had suffering with wireless connection problem, currently my wireless router connected to WAN directly, after that go into firewall and then go thru switch to end user PC, for LAN user there is no issue, but for wireless connected PC it is prompted with limited connectivity problem(DHCP is disable on router), after check with ipconfig /all. it seem likely due to wireless PC cannot get the IP from DHCP server. i am using DLink615 router. i had checked firewall setting there is firewall policy that connected all router ip into company LAN, but i don't think there is DHCP VPN setting up. is there anyway i can go thru firewall and get IP from DHCP server because if i set up DHCP on router, it cannot pass thru and access to LAN.

Jul 1, 2013I am probably missing something so obvious, but I have been working on it for three days. I received a new modem DSL 2750B and have it LAN wired to my Dell Studio 1555. I asked my techy step son to hook it up to wireless while I was away. He could not do it and worked with Verizon to create a home network changing the SSID and WPA Key. They spent about a hour together on line and could not get the wireless to work and Verizon said its a problem with the Studio 1555.
So, I have been working on it since and can not fix it. The Studio is out of warranty and I have Windows 7 Home Edition. I spent a day and a half to finally get the Function F2 button to work and turn on wireless. This was only possible after downloading the Dell Quick Set and now the Radio On button shows in my Windows Mobility display. I checked my BIOS and Radio, WiFI, and WAN are all enabled.
When I boot up I can see the wireless network showing as available and at excellent strength. I click it to connect and it fails authentication. I ping the router at 192.168.1.1 and it shows both wired LAN and wireless LAN connected. So, I go to Wireless and go through the push button method of signing on to the router, pressing the WPS button on the router. It "spins" for 120 seconds and says fails enrollment.
I am thinking that I should have my laptop and router all reset and eliminate the network Verizon and my step son set up. This would give me a clean start and I can use the SSID and WPA key that came with the router..but, I'm not sure that is it or am I missing something else.

Apr 9, 2011I have an Dell inspiron 1564 with dell webcam central I been useing it a while now and had no problems with it untill one day I logged on and I go on webcam chat sites and as you know theres a button you click for your cam to turn on and useally a warning sign would appear saying would you like to allow this site to acces your webcam and I would click allow but now nothing appears and i click the cam sign and nothing happens just black I set the settings to Allow and always remember but nothing will work I was told to get rid of all my toolbars as they might of caughts the problem so I did and now i don't have any toolbars but it's still in not working I think its the McAfee secuirty I have a on my computer that is not allowing it but then i think why would it one day just stop it from allowing.

I then proceeded to add wireless computers to the router-no problem. had 1 computer I couldnt set up because the person was sleeping. So this morning I go to set up their computer, and found the name (SSID) on the available networks. I clicked on it, and it connected right away WITHOUT ASKING FOR THE PASSPHRASE!!!!! NO ONE put the pass phrase in this computer before. I checked the connection-and sure enough, there was the passphrase right there on this computer! So HOW did this computer, that I hadnt ever tried to connect to this new network before- suddenly get the passphrase as well? if anyone in this neighborhood can just connect to my network and automatically get the passphrase like that-then I need to take this back and get a refund!! That isnt secure at all!

I've tried troubleshooting by going into "Control Panel, Network Connections". The Ethernet icon says "Network Cable Unplugged, Realtex PCIe FE Family Controller".
I've tried the same Ethernet connection with another Dell laptop and it works just fine.
As I said, it seems as if the Ethernet adapter on my laptop is not hooked up at all.
