Linksys Wireless Router :: E2500 Already Had Access Phrase In Computer?

Dec 19, 2012

I just bought this Cisco E2500 router last night. I was able to set new pass phrase and name (SSID). I then proceeded to add wireless computers to the router-no problem. had 1 computer I couldnt set up because the person was sleeping. So this morning I go to set up their computer, and found the name (SSID) on the available networks. I clicked on it, and it connected right away WITHOUT ASKING FOR THE PASSPHRASE!!!!! NO ONE put the pass phrase in this computer before. I checked the connection-and sure enough, there was the passphrase right there on this computer! So HOW did this computer, that I hadnt ever tried to connect to this new network before- suddenly get the passphrase as well? if anyone in this neighborhood can just connect to my network and automatically get the passphrase like that-then I need to take this back and get a refund!! That isnt secure at all!

Aug 13, 2012

i am having a problem with my desktop right now, just recently i re-installed Windows7, a clean format... but then i suddenly noticed that i cant connect to the internet, no network adapters are detected on the Network Connections, its empty i looked at the Device Manager and saw a yellow warning on realtek rtl8139/810x family fast ethernet nic, i download the driver using my laptop (wireless connection)... and installed that driver on my desktop pc then checked the device manager once again, but it still has a yellow warning.i dont know what to do anymore, and at the last screenshot theres this error message: This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12) If you want to use this device, you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system.i have two lan cards, one at the motherboard(not in use) and the other PCI-E lan card (tp-link ) ...im just wondering if that Realtek i just installed is the lan driver for the motherboard?

Can't Find NAS On Network

Jan 8, 2013

I am trying to set up a small windows network but am having trouble connecting to my NAS. The set-up is simple: My modem is connected to a wifi router to which notebooks/desktops/smartphones/nas are connected. Internet/network is working fine for wireless and also for computers connected to the router by cable. Assigned IP addresses are in the range of 192.168.0.100 to 192.168.0.199. Now by default the NAS has the address 192.168.1.100. There however it is not available..

Cannot Find Own Network But Everyone Else Can?

Jun 22, 2011

So at my workplace I am unable to find/detect and connect to this network that I just had connected to a few days ago. My fellow colleagues are able to connect to it yet I am not. However I know that my wireless adapter is working because I am able to connect to my home network easily, and can detect other work networks in my office building, in which there are at least 15.

Can't Find Computers On Network / Can't See Other Network

Oct 18, 2012

I seem to have a problem with my new PC build... it's getting connected to the internet, but it isn't finding the network everything else is using, which has left me more than a bit confused. It seems as though my new PC is on a network all its own (simply called "Network"). Meanwhile, my old machine and my housemate's machine (both running Win7 x64), as well as my Playstation 3, are all connected to the main network, which we named "Ostia."

The router is a Netgear WNR2000v2. It's wireless (though all three desktops and the PS3 are all wired), and we've had no problems connecting anything in the past. This is the only machine that can't get access. I've had friends come over with laptops to play games on several occasions and they've always been able to wirelessly connect to my network, or plug in a wired connection and find it as well. But my new PC doesn't see "Ostia." I can go to Control Panel Network and Internet Network and Sharing Center and click "see full map," and that shows me the full network (Internet, the router, and everything connected to said router). But for whatever reason, I can't seem to get my new machine into the Ostia network.

I've had zero problems with the internet on my new machine otherwise. It connects fine in IE9, Firefox, and Chrome. In Battlefield 3 and other online games, this machine is an absolute terminator, running every game I throw at it on max settings without dropping below 60-70 FPS with no lag of any sort. The only reason this is annoying is because I can't move shared files to and from this machine with the other two PCs.

D-Link DIR-601 :: Can't Pass Internet

Dec 8, 2011

I just bought a DIR-601. It comes with an installation process on CD.The process fails at the point where I make the connection from my DSL modem to the DIR-601. The installation program reports that there is no internet connection.  (Note that to get this far in the installation process the installation program has already tested for a valid internet connection before the DIR-601 is inserted into the chain)Although the LED on the front of the DIR-601 indicates it is getting an internet connection from the DSL modem, it does not pass it on to my PC (already connected to the DIR-601). My PC reports "no internet access".

How To Find Hosts On Network

Jul 7, 2011

I need a tool to find all the hosts connected on my network. I need something that will tell me the MAC and host type/name. I ran an IP Address tracker and got all the IPs in use, but that doesn't tell much beyond the IP address. Don't really need to do a full in-depth nmap port scan. My concern about using nmap is it can bog down a router...Although I can't say for sure if there are ways to scale the scan back in nmap so it won't cause any issues?

ISP Can't Find Network Adapter?

Jan 16, 2011

I just bought a new computer. It has a Windows 7 home premium 64 bit Operating System. I got everything set up. I put the Cox high speed disk in my drive to get my internet set up, and it could not find my network adapter. I don't have a router. I am connecting straight from my cable modem to my computer. I have tried unplugging my modem a few minutes then plugging back in, but still can't reset and find my network adapter. My computer will not automatically assign an ip address. My computer shows that I have a network adapter, and it is working properly.
