I bought a XBOX for my grandson and want to connect it to the internet for him. It wont connect without a WPA2 pass phrase. I tried entering 192.168.1.1 to access the router but it wont go though. I contacted Linksys and of course they said my router needed to be reconfigured at a cost.
I set up my daughter's Dell laptop last year to our WRT54G wireless router and I'm trying to connect to our wireless network now with another laptop (a new Dell) and can't find (or remember) my security code or pass phrase. Is there any place on the old laptop that I can access this info? How can I configure the new laptop without this info?
I just bought this Cisco E2500 router last night. I was able to set new pass phrase and name (SSID). I then proceeded to add wireless computers to the router-no problem. had 1 computer I couldnt set up because the person was sleeping. So this morning I go to set up their computer, and found the name (SSID) on the available networks. I clicked on it, and it connected right away WITHOUT ASKING FOR THE PASSPHRASE!!!!! NO ONE put the pass phrase in this computer before. I checked the connection-and sure enough, there was the passphrase right there on this computer! So HOW did this computer, that I hadnt ever tried to connect to this new network before- suddenly get the passphrase as well? if anyone in this neighborhood can just connect to my network and automatically get the passphrase like that-then I need to take this back and get a refund!! That isnt secure at all!
My WPA2-Personal wi-fi connection doesn't find any wired computers to my dsl router. I am having 5 computer in my network, 2 wired 3 wireless. When I switch back to WEP everything is fine tho but then I am loosing the n standard connection. My router is "Linksys Wireless ADSL2+ Gateway".
Looking to upgrade my old G router to the EA6500. I don't see anything about VPN pass through on the EA6500 or any linksys N router. Is this feature something they no longer include?
I have a Linksys WRT330N router running firmware version v1.00.3.It currently is running WEP security but I want to secure it even better but dont know how to get it set to WPA2 security.
I have a WRT54GS v5 running firmware version 1.52.8. When I select the WPA wireless security mode, the encryption technique is fixed to TKIP - I am not given the option to change it to AES? I would really like to be able to select WPA- with AES (this is related to the WAP54G apparently not being able to do do WPA2 - AES in client mode).
I have the E4200 router, trying to change the security option to WEP to see if my WD TV live will connect to it, becuase right now with the WPA2 its not connecting.
I dont know why my WD TV live wont connect to the router, its visible in the list though!!
even my PS3 is having troubles connecting to the E4200 with the WPA2 security.
We have almost identical networks in two offices, with the only difference being, one uses an RV042 and the other an RV082.The setup is: two WAG54GS ADSL modems carry PPOA ADSL connections with static IPs to the two WAN ports of the RV0XX.The WAG54GS routers are configured to DMZ all incoming traffic to the relevant WAN IP of the RV0XXs. VPN pass-through is also set on them. The RV0XX port forwarding is set to forward a selection of traffic such as, PPTP, HTTP, HTTPS, RDP, POP3, SMTP and Remote Desk to the external adapter of an SBS 2003 server which processes all operations including ISA and Exchange.Mail for Exchange arrive through both ADSL connections for redundancy. VPN connection requests from remote users to the SBS come in through both ADSL connections. The office fitted with RV042 works fine and does all the following without problems. The office fitted with RV082 has issues. Remote VPN requests comming from ADSL to WAN port 1 of the RV082 connect successfully to the SBS2003 server, but the VPN requests coming from ADSL to WAN port 2 fail to connect! Similarly, incoming mail destined for Exchange don't get through if coming from ADSL of WAN port 2.I have updated the firmware on both RV042 and RV082, but the RV082 still has the above issues.
I cannot connect via VPN PPTP (normal setup in windows xp), I have managed to connect over VPN direct connected to internet, through the router (WRVS4400n) if I turn off the firewall. But I cannot connect with the firewall enabled,One more thing, the device is on and I have enabled the passthrough (and 'Multicast Passthrough' in firewall basic settings) for all available options where one of the options is PPTP.
I have a Linksys model WRT3110Nv2 and I cannot connect when my security is set WPA2 and i type in the correct password. it has no problem connecting when I set it to an unsecure network. ???
I have a WRT54GS. It is hardware version 2 and firmware version 3.37.7. I have it set for WPA AES security. For that hardware version it looks like I can only upgrade the firmware to version 4.71.4.001. Will that get me to WPA2 AES encryption?
In our area Comcast has increased the internet speed to 50mb. I have a six year old WRT54GL. Can this router pass 50mb through to the computer on a wired connection?
Just installed 2 E4200v2's for a customer today. Was very optimistic because they worked great in my lab, both for my Win7 laptop a MacBook. And after installing 1 on-site and testing w/ my laptop, it worked fine.BUT problems arose when I installed both at the same time (I don't think I ever did this in the lab) and then I tested some computers. Every computer that I tested (except mine of course), cannot authenticate correctly using the WPA2 password.
For the Mac's they get the error "The wi-fi network... requires a WPA2 password" then after entering the *correct* pswd, it says "Invalid password". They're a Mac shop, but I did try one other Win laptop and that also had a problem, and the error was something like "security mismatch" although I was rushed and didn't write it down.
I recently upgraded the firmware on my wrt 160N v3 and changed the wireless security to WPA2 Personal from WEP (I needed to do this to get higher speeds from a recently purchased wireless adapter). Now the router stops transmitting a signal intermittently for about a minute before coming back on line. The time between droppages is also not the same. Before the firmware upgrade (and the change in security settings) the router was rock solid. Where I can get the older version of the firmware (which seems to be more stable than the current version)?
My iPad cannot connect to my network wireless through WPA2 using router E4200 the way my Macbook is connected. Only using guest access i can get internet contact. Is this a known problem with this combination and/or is it meant to be, that only guest access gives an iPad connection?
Roku tech support confirms the new Roku2 XS has a 5GHz (as well as 2.4GHz, or course) radio that supports n. I can connect no problem on 2.4GHz Mixed using WPA2 Personal, but not on 5GHz Mixed using WPA2. The Roku can't even see the SSID being broadcast. I don't have any other gear with a 5GHz radio to confirm the E4200 is actually broadcasting a 5GHz SSID.
I have a Linksys E3000, have had it successfully connected for three months now. Recently I attempted to connect my xbox 360 to the wifi and had issues connecting it. So I called ATT to obtain the PPPoE username and password, which they reluctantly gave me. Entered that into the xbox and still unable to connect, so I have given up on the xbox for the time being, I'll post that issue in a different forum. Where my issue is now is since contacting ATT the WPA2 password I set up for the router no longer works. I cannot access the router setup page, and I cannot add any new wifi devices. Although, all of the previously connected wifi devices are still connected to the router despite this issue. Is there anyway to make the old password work, or do I have to reset the router and start from scratch, and God forbid contact ATT again?
I am trying to change the security on my router so I can use WPA2 AES security in conjunction with a media device. The router security page only gives me a choice of WPA2 Personal or WPA2 Enterprise (which requires the use of a Radius Server that I don't have).
I have kindle fire that is unable to connect to the wireless network. All otehr devices windows phone, xbox and laptop are able to connect seamlessly.Amazon also sent me a replacement, but the issue is still the same. The error is:
"Unable to connect to the selected access point, Please check the password you provided."
Also, I removed the security on the network to see if its able to connect without password. The state where it fails is Obtaining IP address and it fails again.
some problems when I was trying to install my X3000 as a DSL modem and router.I had to assign a designated IP address but I have dynamic IP from my internet supplier. I can't get pass the stepp of assigning IP address.
I've just purchased a new router (WRT160N) and wireless adapter (WMP600N). The problem is that I cannot connect to the router when I have it set to WPA or WPA2. At the same time my laptop with Atheros 9285n connects to router and works perfectly. When the wireless security disabled the wmp600n connects to the router without a problem and shows 300mbps connection speed and laptop 150mbps. When the router is set to WEP both laptop and pc with wmp600n connect but work very slow - 54mbps only.
After a lot of effort I got my wireless adapter to work like it should without security. I set WPA 2 level security on my WRT54GS wireless router and then went to access the router (set up as an access point) with the WPC54G ver 2 adapter on a Thinkpad T22, it says I have WEP encryption and I cannot enter the passphrase I used for the router. It does not let me select AES. It says to pick AES or TKIP, but TKIP is the only choice.
My wifi was previously unprotected. I switched to WPA2 and now can't connect to my network. In the set up, it can't even see the adapter. The lights tell me that the adapter is talking to my computer. The ethernet and wifi lights blink. What can I do other than unprotect my network? How can I set this up manually if the computer can't even see it?
