I have a WRT54GS. It is hardware version 2 and firmware version 3.37.7. I have it set for WPA AES security. For that hardware version it looks like I can only upgrade the firmware to version 4.71.4.001. Will that get me to WPA2 AES encryption?

I would like to upgrade the firmware for my WRT54GS V2.1 router however, I only see versions 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, etc.. There is no 2.1 listed, so does this mean I can use the v2.0 firmware?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys WRT54GS (v5) router. I noticed that my firmware was outdated and tried to upgrade it tonight. During the upgrade progress, the browser reset the connection and now cannot access my router configuration pages.I did a hard reset. Then I did the 30-30-30 reset.
The reset worked but no matter what I do, I cannot navigate to any readable page within the router. I get the log in box and successfully log into the router. However, the configuration page(s) are all jumbled and devoid of useful information. It almost looks like a web page that needs flash to be enabled. Lots of colors and boxes but no text or links to other configuration pages
I know it's an old router but it has served me well. I would love to reinstall the old firmware (or new!) and copy my saved configuration file back to the router.Is there a way to access the configuration via a command line interface?
After a lot of effort I got my wireless adapter to work like it should without security. I set WPA 2 level security on my WRT54GS wireless router and then went to access the router (set up as an access point) with the WPC54G ver 2 adapter on a Thinkpad T22, it says I have WEP encryption and I cannot enter the passphrase I used for the router. It does not let me select AES. It says to pick AES or TKIP, but TKIP is the only choice.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've tried downloading the binary file and on both a mac and pc and it's not working. On the mac it looks like a normal zip file but when I click to "unzip" it it just creates another zip file. When I download it on a pc it doesn't even look like a zip it's just a blank white square. Both computers have always downloaded zips fine, so I'm thinking it maybe is a problem with the file?

Hit continue, held the reset button down for 10 seconds then powered off the router for 30 seconds and plugged it back in.My firmware version in the router is still saying v2.07.1, I would assume it should say 4.21.4?

I get a reply using 192.168.1.1 but I'm not sure that works when using the TFTP Utility if it's the wrong address on my Laptop to ping?
I was asked to connect directly to the modem to be sure that it worked before beginning to install the E1200. When I connect my laptop (Win7) to an available wired ethernet port on my WR54GS I can connect to the internet. If I unplug the internet input to the router from the modem and connect that to my computer, I do not get an internet connection. I am using a Motorolla SB5120 modem connected to comcast.

I purchased a Kindle Fire last week and it works fine at work, at restaurants, etc. but not at home. I am unable to open the admin webpage. I can get to the login page on 192.168.1.1, after i enter the admin password the next page doesn't load. It keeps showing 'Waiting' at the center of the page forever.. I have tried to do the 30/30/30 reset to no avail, i tried to do tftp downgrade to older firmware version but the tftp boot doesn't even start. Is there any other way i can either fix the current firmware upgrade or downgrade it to the previous version?

Pinging facebook.com would give me an IP that belongs to wikipedia. The answer was SUPPOSED to be upgrading to v3.0.03.I upgraded and now my router WILL NOT connect to my DSL modem. Oh, it says it's connected and shows the correct IP address for my DSL modem but the gateway is showing 0.0.0.0. Direct connection to my PC works just fine.I have cycled the power on both the router and the DSL modem several times. The DSL modem is working just fine. I have done several IP release/renew on the router. I have reset the router. To no avail. This firmware update (which completed successfully) seems to have killed my routers ability to communitcate with the internet.

First the installation failed, double checked to make sure I downloaded the correct file (FW_WRT54G_8.1.09.02_US_20071227.bin), did a reset and power cycle. Checked the information again and everything on the router setup completely disappeared.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am trying to upgrade the firmware on my Linksys v1 router from 1.0.02 to 1.0.03 over a remote 56Kb circuit. I appear to be having a timeout problem. The upgrade always fails. I have upgraded several E1200s in my office over ethernet, and the upgrade appears to finish when the progress bar is at 15%. However, on my remote upgrade, the progress bar gets to 98%, hangs for a few more seconds, and then pops up a window with "Upgrade failed".
I suspect that there is a timeout on the upgrade process, and that I can't upload the 3.8 MB firmware file fast enough. If so, is there any way to increase the upgrade timeout?
