Mar 25, 2007I would like to upgrade the firmware for my WRT54GS V2.1 router however, I only see versions 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, etc.. There is no 2.1 listed, so does this mean I can use the v2.0 firmware?

May 8, 2012I have a Linksys WRT54GS (v5) router. I noticed that my firmware was outdated and tried to upgrade it tonight. During the upgrade progress, the browser reset the connection and now cannot access my router configuration pages.I did a hard reset. Then I did the 30-30-30 reset.
The reset worked but no matter what I do, I cannot navigate to any readable page within the router. I get the log in box and successfully log into the router. However, the configuration page(s) are all jumbled and devoid of useful information. It almost looks like a web page that needs flash to be enabled. Lots of colors and boxes but no text or links to other configuration pages
I know it's an old router but it has served me well. I would love to reinstall the old firmware (or new!) and copy my saved configuration file back to the router.Is there a way to access the configuration via a command line interface?

Feb 2, 2013I tried to upgrade firmware (I entered my model number WRT54G and hardware version 2 into Cisco menu and downloded the upgrade file they provided. My version was v2.02.7, downloded file FW_WRT54Gv4_4.21.5.000_20120220.bin . After I run the upgrade it said upgrade failed. After that I can't connect to internet and can't access the router. I tried to reset it and unplug it- no luck. From my PC control panel I see local area connections status connected, but as I said, it does not connect to Internet.

Aug 24, 2011I just bought a Cisco E4200 (from someone on Ebay, so returning is probably not an option). I was in the process of setting it up when it wanted to do a Router Update. Unfortunately, it did not specifically say to not do it WIRELESS. We had a disconnection in the upgrade process. Now the Power light just blinks. I can ping it from a hard-wired PC, but cannot get to the Administration Web page to retry the firmware update (I did download it from the site). Also Cisco Connect cannot connect to the router.
Oh Yes, I have tried holding reset button for 30 seconds, unplugging for 30 seconds, and replugging in the router. I do not get any different results.

Linksys Wireless Router :: VPN Connection Failed When Using WRT54GS
Sep 12, 2011Currently I have Verizon DSL and which supplied me with a Westell 7500 modem/wireless router. I am also connecting a Linksys WRT54GS (firmware Version: 7.2.08) to the Westell 7500.
When I connect via cable or wireless to Linksys WRT54GS I am not able to establish VPN connection. I get the error “Error 619: A connection to the remote computer could not be established. So the port used for this connection was closed”.
However, when I connect via cable or wireless to Westell 7500 I am able to connect to VPN.
I tried resetting the Linksys WRT54GS to factory settings and reconfigured but no success to VPN.
At work we have a Windows 2003 setup with VPN Role on it and on my laptop I am using the built in VPN connection within Windows 7.

I had it all working fine, then I wanted to upgrade the firmware. The original firmware was 3-14-4. I downloaded and applied the 3-15-4 firmware. Now when it powers on the power light is on all the time. Immediately the sys, 4, 3, 2, 1, Internet, usb and wps lights flash once. Then about 5 seconds later the 4, 3, 2, 1 & Internet lights flash once, then a second later the cycle starts again. When I connect it to the PC it starts to make a connection on the NIC, but then the router resets. Model: TL-WR1042ND, Ver 1.3 . Is there a way to reset the firmware or get it working again?

On the mac it looks like a normal zip file but when I click to "unzip" it it just creates another zip file. When I download it on a pc it doesn't even look like a zip it's just a blank white square. I get a reply using 192.168.1.1 but I'm not sure that works when using the TFTP Utility if it's the wrong address on my Laptop to ping?

Aug 21, 2012I was asked to connect directly to the modem to be sure that it worked before beginning to install the E1200. When I connect my laptop (Win7) to an available wired ethernet port on my WR54GS I can connect to the internet. If I unplug the internet input to the router from the modem and connect that to my computer, I do not get an internet connection. I am using a Motorolla SB5120 modem connected to comcast.

Held reset for 30s, then powered down the router for another 30s. On power-up the router still flashes the power LED.
