I had it all working fine, then I wanted to upgrade the firmware. The original firmware was 3-14-4. I downloaded and applied the 3-15-4 firmware. Now when it powers on the power light is on all the time. Immediately the sys, 4, 3, 2, 1, Internet, usb and wps lights flash once. Then about 5 seconds later the 4, 3, 2, 1 & Internet lights flash once, then a second later the cycle starts again. When I connect it to the PC it starts to make a connection on the NIC, but then the router resets. Model: TL-WR1042ND, Ver 1.3 . Is there a way to reset the firmware or get it working again?

My version was v2.02.7, downloded file FW_WRT54Gv4_4.21.5.000_20120220.bin . After I run the upgrade it said upgrade failed. After that I can't connect to internet and can't access the router. I tried to reset it and unplug it- no luck. From my PC control panel I see local area connections status connected, but as I said, it does not connect to Internet.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI just bought a Cisco E4200 (from someone on Ebay, so returning is probably not an option). I was in the process of setting it up when it wanted to do a Router Update. Unfortunately, it did not specifically say to not do it WIRELESS. We had a disconnection in the upgrade process. Now the Power light just blinks. I can ping it from a hard-wired PC, but cannot get to the Administration Web page to retry the firmware update (I did download it from the site). Also Cisco Connect cannot connect to the router.
Oh Yes, I have tried holding reset button for 30 seconds, unplugging for 30 seconds, and replugging in the router. I do not get any different results.

I assume I have to do a factory reset then an upgrade in order to upgrade properly.
If I do a backup running 1.0.1.0, then upgrade to 1.0.4.17, then do a restore, would that put me back to 1.0.1.0? I'm trying to avoid configuring the router manually all over again.
A new Cisco 3750V2 (WS-C3750V2-48PS-S) running IOS 'c3750-ipbasek9-mz.122-50.SE5.bin' waspurchased to add to a stack of 3 Cisco 3750 (WS- C3750- 48PS-S) switches. The IOS on the stacked switches is 'c3750-ipbase-mz.122-25.SEB4.bin'.I loaded this IOS on to the new Cisco 3750V2 and deleted its original IOS. Boot up failed with error 'hardware not supported by firmware'. I am now trying to follow the recovery procedure but the I can only initialise the flash (flash_init) and there is no 'boot_helper' command to load the boot helper files. There is no option to rum 'copy xmodem' so I cannot upload the original IOS image via xmodem on hyperterminal.

I added XBox 360 about a month ago and didn't change any settings. About a week and a half later, I started constantly dropping connection to laptops and Xbox 360. I tried changing router setup to recommended settings for gaming with XBox 360 with no difference. Since changing set-up to above, internet is NOT dropping out. But now I need setting up for XBox 360 gaming and PS3 movie streaming without losing connection again.
This morning i upgraded a remote RV082 to 4.2.0.1 from 4.0.4.1. Numbers could be off slightly since i'm going from memory. I never got the normal acknowledgement the transfer was complete but after an ample amount of time closed the tunnel from my end, re- established my vpn but when i went to log in i received: RV082 firmware upgrade error? The requested server-side-includes filename, /usr/local/EasyAccess/www/htdocs/default.htm, does not seem to exist./quotei googled it and found similar occurrences with earlier upgrades. I'm assuming it didn't reboot itself upon completion of the xfer, at least i'm hoping a cold reboot will correct this but as i'm remote and this install doesn't have an ethernet power controller i'm stuck until monday. Should i bring a spare RV082 just in case.

When I changed the boot commands, I did not leave the 2nd option in there and the old firmware has an .ex3 extension. After trying to boot to this new image, we receive a looping error message that continues to reboot and go through the same process.Basically the error is "ERROR: firmware not supported by hardware"I have power cycled it a few times but durning bootup, I never see the ################## which would allow me to BREAK sequence and get into rommon. The device simply waits about 30-40 seconds after boot and goes right back to the looping reboot sequence and the error message. Is there any hyper term or putty settings to change on this?

I tried the hard reset, several times, holding it in for 10 seconds after 3 seconds did not work. I held it in for 3 seconds, waited 1 minute, and just got a flashing red light. I did the same thing after holding reset in for 10 seconds. I have unplugged and replugged in the network cable on both ends several times and turned the power off and on on the router and camera several times. The camera only blinks with a red flashing light. Is it a brick now? Is there any other magic tricks to try?

I want to use them wirelessly so I clicked wireless setup, and entered my network info. At that point I get an error message saying it failed to save settings. I know the ID and password are correct.I have tried exiting the setup wizard and accessing the camera thru the web interface. All wireless settings are correct. The camera works FINE on web browser, myDlink, and even my iPhone app as long as the ethernet cable is attached.Other wireless devices have no trouble connecting to my router. The router seems to go through the motions of the upgrade, but at the end, when I log back on, the firmware still says 1.32NA & all custom settings remain.I have upgraded the firmware on this router before and I know that when its upgraded, the router is basically reset to factory settings. All the settings have been backed up and I am attempting this upgrade via a wired connection.

Because of this I never upgraded and was told to be satisfied that I can still stay with 1.21 as upgrades caused problems for a number of people.Everything still seems fine with 1.21 except the Shareport utility often does not pickup the printer connection upon booting to Windows Vista. I can always work around this by Disable and then Enable. It will then always find the printer. It is a minor annoyance however.Should I still stay with 1.21 or is upgrading to 1.35 NA recommended ? If I upgrade to 1.35 NA is there a downgrade path back to 1.21 if the upgrade does not work well ?

During bandwidth tests to several sites (principally speedtest.net) I get ping times of 10-11 ms, download speeds of 12+ to 17+ mbps but failure on upload tests using my DIR-655.
When I bypass the 655 and test directly with my cable modem, all (including upload) tests work reliably and consistently.
I have swapped the two ethernet cables involved as well as replacing both with new cables but the results are the same (uploads fail with 655 and work without it)
I have seen several postings over the the last year with this same problem but have never seen any comment from D-Link, or a solution from any reader.
Not that it should have any bearing, but I have TA785GE-128M motherboard and am running Windows 7 (patch current) on COMCAST
is this problem acknowledged by D-Link and is there a solution?
Have the DIR-655 Hardware Version A1. Firmware 1.00NA dated Feb 2010. When I try to upload ANY firmware update from the DLINK site, it says that it is not for that device or is corrupt.

I have a DIR-615 Ver. C1 f/w3.00. We have been having trouble with the the signal becoming weak or non-existent, so I decided to see if a firmware upgrade would solve the problem. I have attempted to upgrade to DIR615C1C2_FW301B11.bin and to DIR615C1_FW313NAB09.bin with the same result for both of them - with several attempts for each.
The message I get is: "The uploaded firmware file may not be correct. You may have uploaded a file that is not intended for this device, or the uploaded file may be corrupted.
If the uploaded file is correct, it is possible that the device may be too busy to properly receive it right now. In this case, please try the upload again. It is also possible that you are logged in as a 'user' instead of an 'admin' - only administrators can upload new firmware.
The Gateway will not be reprogrammed."
I have disconnected all other devices to reduce traffic, I have attempted the upload multiple times for 3.01 and 3.13NA, I am logged in as the admin, and I believe the files are proper for this hardware version.
Is there something I am missing that prevents me from performing a firmware upgrade?
I get this error when I update to 1.12. Error 324 (net::ERR_EMPTY_RESPONSE): The server closed the connection without sending any data.
