My WPA2-Personal wi-fi connection doesn't find any wired computers to my dsl router. I am having 5 computer in my network, 2 wired 3 wireless. When I switch back to WEP everything is fine tho but then I am loosing the n standard connection. My router is "Linksys Wireless ADSL2+ Gateway".

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a toshiba laptop with windows 7 installed(IE 9)and it connects to my wireless modem just fine i have 2 othe home puters that is networked so that i can access both on my laptop. the problem i have is this i have to take my laptop with me to work and hook up to customers modem no problems there. when i get home and reconnect to my wireless modem i have no problems accessing then internet. but for some reason i am not able to access the other 2 puters that was networked previously. I have tried to repeat the netork setup with no luck the only way i can get my network setup the way it was before i have to do a system restore.

I have 2 computers connected directly to the E3000, and 2 computers connected to a ProCurve managed switch on the other side of the house. I can ping the computers on the switch side of the network but i cannot see those computers in the network section of windows 7. I can also navigate to them via \ computername.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI seem to have a problem with my new PC build... it's getting connected to the internet, but it isn't finding the network everything else is using, which has left me more than a bit confused. It seems as though my new PC is on a network all its own (simply called "Network"). Meanwhile, my old machine and my housemate's machine (both running Win7 x64), as well as my Playstation 3, are all connected to the main network, which we named "Ostia."
The router is a Netgear WNR2000v2. It's wireless (though all three desktops and the PS3 are all wired), and we've had no problems connecting anything in the past. This is the only machine that can't get access. I've had friends come over with laptops to play games on several occasions and they've always been able to wirelessly connect to my network, or plug in a wired connection and find it as well. But my new PC doesn't see "Ostia." I can go to Control Panel Network and Internet Network and Sharing Center and click "see full map," and that shows me the full network (Internet, the router, and everything connected to said router). But for whatever reason, I can't seem to get my new machine into the Ostia network.
I've had zero problems with the internet on my new machine otherwise. It connects fine in IE9, Firefox, and Chrome. In Battlefield 3 and other online games, this machine is an absolute terminator, running every game I throw at it on max settings without dropping below 60-70 FPS with no lag of any sort. The only reason this is annoying is because I can't move shared files to and from this machine with the other two PCs.
I have 3 computers running Windows and 1 running XP Pro.ISP is Charter. All these were connecting fine until Tuesday night storm came through. Power was out for a while due to a power pole being knocked down. Cable was on this same pole I think. Next day none of my computers could connect wireless.Used Ethernet cable direct to modem and finally got connection. To make a long story shorter, I find that now I can only connect unsecured or WEP. Can't connect using WPA2 at all.I wonder if it is possible that the ISP has blocked something to limit the speed?
WEP is only 54 MHZ
WPA2 is upto 300MHZ

I have a Gateway connected to my router with wpa2-psk and have internet access. I have on old Dell with an an old d-link card that can't access the router because it won't do wpa2. I'd like to connect it to the other laptop to gain access to the internet because it is inconvenient to plug the old Dell directly into the router.

The network adapter is a Broadcom 802.11 b/g WLAN. The router is a cisco linksys WRT54G2 V1.5. The security on the network is WPA2 using TKIP+AES encryption. I can't get it to connect to the wireless network. If I bump the security down to WEP it will connect just fine.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to connect an old HP desktop I have (running windows XP) to my home network, which uses WPA2 encryption. I'm pretty much a network noob so I have no idea what's going wrong. Right now it's stuck on "validating identity" when I try to connect to the network.
So far in my quest to solve this problem, I have:
1. Downloaded Service Pack 3.
2. Tried disabiling Authentication for the network.
From reading around forums I've learned that apparently after downloading Service Pack 3, I should be able to choose 'WPA2' as an option for "Network Authentication" on my Network's properties page. It still isn't showing up for me though.
Since my desktop can't connect to the internet, I couldn't download Service Pack 3 directly so I downloaded it on another computer, put it on a flash drive, and then uploaded it to the desktop. I'm not sure if this could be the problem or not, but if it makes a difference, I can verify on my Computer's properties page that I am running Service Pack 3.
My network adapter is a "Hawking Technologies HWP54G Wireless-G PCI Card". Is it possible that this card does not support WPA2? How do I tell? If it doesn't support WPA2, am I **** out of luck for trying to connect to my network without upgrading the card itself?
Why doesn't "WPA-2" show up as an option for my Network Authentication type?

I am curious if I can do an either or sitution with a single SSID. If you are on the mac filtering list then you gain access to the network, if not then enter your WPA2-ENT credentials. I have a minimal ammount of users that need mac filtering, but do not want to give them there own SSID.

View 6 Replies View RelatedRecently bought a laptop HP Pavilion DM4 with Windows 7 home premium 64 bit for use in a college wireless environment. The school insists on WPA2 Enterprise connection, which is supposedly the recommended Microsoft security protocol for Win 7. I have all the correct settings, such that I can routinely connect to the wireless network but on this model HP I consistently get speeds way under 10kbs, while if I use EXACT same settings on a different Lenovo, Dell, or other models of HP get speeds of over 5MG. Yes 500x faster.Of course HP wanted to blame the network, but after sending 2 technicians to visit on campus, they agreed it was their hardware, so they sent a replacement unit. Unfortunately, the replacement unit has the EXACT same problem. BTW the problem computers do connect flawlessly to other wifi networks at full speed, just not the WPA2 Enterprise network.
View 1 Replies View RelatedThis is a 5-year-oldish Gateway MX-6124 laptop running under Win XP 2002, SP3. I'm using SureWest DSL, with an ISP-supplied ComTrend NexusLink 5631 Modem/Router. The router is set up as a Secure Network, using WPA encryption. The laptop wireless operation light toggles off/on correctly using Fn-F2 control keys.I can connect to an open or non-secured wireless router, & have verified that at my church, at the Public Library, and at Starbucks. However, I cannot successfully connect to a passworded secured wireless source. I tried to use a secured network connection at my church yesterday, and could not connect. It "tries & tries" and eventually gives up and displays a cannot-connect type of message.
The laptop has worked correctly for several years on my home wireless network. It only stopped working about 3 or 4 weeks ago. I cannot recall changing anything in setup; I probably did it accidentally.I've spent about 2 hours in a couple of sessions with SureWest tech support. They diagnosed router setup using direct connect to the router, plus they talked me through several attempts at configuring the wireless config setup on the laptop. Everything I reported to them on the config settings appeared to be just fine. They also deduced that the wireless config on the desktop & router was correct.SureWest techs finally concluded that something was wrong with my laptop software config or the hardware, disabling it from making a encrypted connection. That sounds right to me, now having witnessed the secured connection failure described above, at my church wireless site.
I've looked at all the refs & things I can think of, plus followed step-by-step directions a couple of times with the SureWest techs. They rightfully pointed out that they could not make a tech support repair call on what did not appear to be a SureWest-related problem.I can easily make screenshots of any config screens needed on the laptop & upload to this forum.
How do I change the WPA/WPA2 key, without logging into my router's page? What if, my wireless devices as home does not have a browser that I want them to be configured wirelessly?

They are all 1242AG's running the c1240-k9w7-mx.124-10b.JDA3 IOS. I would like to change the security on the access points to WPA 2 but that selection is not available. I think upgrading the IOS will solve this problem but I am not sure. So I guess I have two questions:
1) Does this Cisco model support WPA 2 ?
2) If so what IOS do I need to load to make WPA 2 available?
I purchased quite a few of these APs as they listed the ability to function in WPA2-PSK mode, but on initial configuration I see that this may only apply to standard AP mode? Is there any way to configure WPA2-PSK on an AP541 to AP541 bridge? Unfortunately, this is a must have for our client. If not, what would allow for this with an external antenna port?
