Trying to get my wife's older laptop to connect to our wireless network. The laptop is a HP pavillion zv5000 running windows XP sp3. The network adapter is a Broadcom 802.11 b/g WLAN. The router is a cisco linksys WRT54G2 V1.5. The security on the network is WPA2 using TKIP+AES encryption. I can't get it to connect to the wireless network. If I bump the security down to WEP it will connect just fine.
View 5 RepliesI am having trouble connecting to my network. I have my modem running right into my Wireless b,g (I know, outdated) router. I believe it is a Netgear but I can get the specifics if necessary. Either way I have security set up on it so you need a password to access. Also I have it setup so I must add each device to the accepted list before connecting. I have successfully connected 3 iphones, an ipad, a Samsung tablet, an Xbox, and at one time an HP Mini laptop.
However, for some reason I can no longer connect the HP Mini to the network. In every try I receive a message that says "Windows was unable to connect to "name of my router"". I definitely remember being connected to this router at one time in the past so I have no clue what changed. Also I can currently connect the HP Mini to the wireless router at work.The interesting thing I find is that I cannot identify the MAC address in the list of devices on my router. I run an ipconfig to identify the MAC address for the HP Mini and then try to manually enter it into the router with no success.A couple of other information points, I am running Windows 7 Home Premium on the HP Mini and the Wireless card is a Broadcom 43224AG 802.11 a/b/g
I use windows 8 32-bit ,, and the Bluetooth app can't support in this system ,,
i always use R273948 and R226746 in windows 7 to apply the Bluetooth app but windows 8 can't supply that app ... .

View 5 Replies View RelatedFor some reason today my desktop stopped being able to share media with other computers and devices.I mainly use PS3 Media Server to stream and download content to multiple devices including my PS3, Xbox 360, iPad, and iPhone. Now none of those devices can see the server. I tried restarting it, restarting my computer, and updating to the latest version.I've also tried turning on other media servers like TVersity and Windows Media Player and none of my devices can detect any of those either, so there must be something wrong with my desktop's networking (but it can still get internet). I haven't made any changes to my home network since yesterday (the last time I used my media server).My desktop runs on a wireless network with a Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter, my router is a Netgear WGT624v4, and my cable modem is a Toshiba. I'm using Windows Vista 32bit.

I have deleted mcafee, norton, photoshop, applications etc. I have restored the system to a previous date. I have disabled firewalls and antiviruses. I have an Acer Aspire with Broadcom 802.11n Network Adapter. I only have wireless as I am sharing my internet and therefore can't test it with an Ethernet cable. I cannot switch on and off the modem box either. I have this limited access which disappears by itself after a few minutes. Then it comes back again. I disable the wireless and enable it again which solves the problem for only a few minutes. I have checked my ip which is 192.168.1.20 with submask of 255 something - which I don't think is the problem.At last, I have switched to Safe mode with Networking but even in this mode I still have limited access. The internet connection keeps cutting off and on all the time.

After a while of my laptop being on, my wireless network adapter will suddenly get "limited connectivity", won't connect to the internet but will still get the router.Every single Xirrus test fails.Disabling and enabling it will cause my computer to freeze, requiring a restart. The same with troubleshooting. The only thing which fixes this is a fresh reboot, however it then occurs again within the hour.Sometimes the entire adapter will randomly just disable itself, and the computer will completely freeze, meaning I have to press the power on/off.Apart from having to reboot, what also seems to work is disabling the wifi from PC Settings, putting the computer to sleep, then awaking it and turning wifi back on.

It's the latest driver. I keep uninstalling the driver and installing random ones from 2006, 2011 etc however the same problem persists.I've tried uninstalling and just rebooting, but problem comes back after a while.This is my IP config when the adapter can't find a connection:

And this event/error seems to be appearing in my Events log."Your computer was not assigned an address from the network (by the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 0x001BB1A80E96. It may be a coincidence but my Broadcom Network Adapter 802.11g stopped working after trying to fix 'unknown device' in Device Manager (It was working perfectly before this).OS: Windows 7 Starter on 'BenQ Joybook Lite U105'.I tried the Windows Network trouble shooter and it didn't work (saying there may be a problem with the driver. I uninstalled the driver and re-installed it (including a possibly newer one) and it didn't work. Within 'Network Connections" the Broadcom wireless adapter is shown as 'disabled' I R-clicked to enable it, a window popped up saying it was enabled but it still showed as being disabled. My feeling is that something is preventing it from being enabled, logically, I would guess. Also went to 'Component Services' and ether started or restarted everything with the word network on it still no luck..My Google search on an other pc , now on day 3, couldn't find anything. (BTW the 'unknown device' which according to the icon, seems to be the joybook itself, is still not fixed and still listed as 'unknown device').

When I try and troubleshoot it shows me that the Broadcom 802.11 Multiband Network Adapter has a Code 10 error and says the "device cannot start." I have tried uninstalling and updating the driver, but it just continues to tell me that it has the best driver every-time I try and update it.If I plug the laptop in to the router with a wired connection it works just fine, so it is obviously an issue with the wireless adapter.what I should do in order to get this to take a new driver so it works again?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to connect an old HP desktop I have (running windows XP) to my home network, which uses WPA2 encryption. I'm pretty much a network noob so I have no idea what's going wrong. Right now it's stuck on "validating identity" when I try to connect to the network.
So far in my quest to solve this problem, I have:
1. Downloaded Service Pack 3.
2. Tried disabiling Authentication for the network.
From reading around forums I've learned that apparently after downloading Service Pack 3, I should be able to choose 'WPA2' as an option for "Network Authentication" on my Network's properties page. It still isn't showing up for me though.
Since my desktop can't connect to the internet, I couldn't download Service Pack 3 directly so I downloaded it on another computer, put it on a flash drive, and then uploaded it to the desktop. I'm not sure if this could be the problem or not, but if it makes a difference, I can verify on my Computer's properties page that I am running Service Pack 3.
My network adapter is a "Hawking Technologies HWP54G Wireless-G PCI Card". Is it possible that this card does not support WPA2? How do I tell? If it doesn't support WPA2, am I **** out of luck for trying to connect to my network without upgrading the card itself?
Why doesn't "WPA-2" show up as an option for my Network Authentication type?
Is there anyway to have my wireless network secure on an WPA2? I am sharing with my landlords network. Everytime I try to create a 14 digit password it disables my connection. Does my landlord have to create a password or can I just do it myself?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI had assumed it was quite difficult or at least time consuming for anyone to break into a password protected WPA2-PSK encrypted wireless network. I'm still a novice or a learner when it comes to computer networking, so I realized this could be untrue.
Some days ago, my 9 year old nephew visited my parent's home where I had set up a WPA2-PSK encrypted network with what I know to be a strong password for both the router and the security phrase.
When I arrived back to my parent's home, I found out that my nephew was some how able to use the password encrypted network. There was no way he could have known the network password himself. I don't mind if my nephew uses our network, but it shows there are serious holes in the security of a WPA wireless network if he was able to bypass the password.
My parent's later told me that while I was away, my nephew was unable to connect to the network, and so used his cell phone and called his father (my brother-in-law). In just a short of time, my brother-in-law explained to my nephew how to bypass the password on our wireless network and use the internet. My parent's are not too happy about what happened and did not realize what my nephew and brother-in-law were doing at the time.
No matter what password is used to protect the network and no matter how complicated, my brother-in-law uses some type of technique to bypass them. And as demonstrated by the story above, he even uses his own children to bypass our network security.
I would greatly appreciate if some users could instruct me on how to better secure my parent's WPA-PSK2 network from this criminal to prevent the breaching from happening again. And if he was able to break through, then I'm guessing it really isn't too difficult for others to breach the security of a WPA-PSK2 network either.
So I have been tasked with setting up WPA2-Enterprise on the network. Right now for testing I have a single Cisco 1240AP, and a test Windows Domain. The Windows domain is at 2003 functional level, but has been extended to have the Wireless policies, and we have a 2008 DC in the test network also.
Is there any definitive guide to setting up a WPA2-Enterprise wireless network? Most of what I find is mostly client side. I am trying to get the Group Policy setup to push down to the client machines.
My nexus 7 and my friends nexus phone are both running jellybean 4.1.1 and are unable to connect to our workplace's belkin wireless router. My nexus 7 says "authenticating" then says "network saved" then switches back to "authenticating". My friend's phone just gets stuck on "network saved". My iPhone and most other devices, including a different android phone, are in fact able to connect with no problems. I have tried resetting the router, but I am afraid that is all I will be able to do with regards to the router.

All of my wireless networks function as expected. I see the successful auth in ACS. I just built a new WPA2 network and set it up to use Splash screen redirect. It doesn't seem to matter what I do it just wont work. IE or Mozilla.Test 1 was to drop the users at the wism. There was no splash screen.There was no evidence of my url-redirect in the wireshark trace.Test 2 used the 4402 as my anchor point with the same results. In both cases the client was authenticated and was able to navigate the internet and other duties. The problem is apon opening the broswer there is no redirect.
My iPad cannot connect to my network wireless through WPA2 using router E4200 the way my Macbook is connected. Only using guest access i can get internet contact. Is this a known problem with this combination and/or is it meant to be, that only guest access gives an iPad connection?

I recently deployed about 40 new laptops all identical make and model HP ProBook 4530's and all have the same client setup for the wireless. Out of those 40 laptops I have 4 that will not connect to the private network. However, these same laptops will connect to my public, open wireless network without issue. In addition to the 4 that will not connect all the others will prompt twice for network authentication.Now, I have about 10 other laptops that are not the HP model and all connect without issue and without dual propt. I don't think this is a wireless network issue but could be some type of issue with this model of laptop.

My wireless stopped working. I had problems in the past, not sure how I got to work then. But the other day after handling the modem/router-combo, I guess it became unplugged. I plugged it back in and have not had wireless since. I turned off computer, restarted. My wireless network is not even listed. I can connect vie ethernet. No adapter is listed under Broadcom Wireless.
I have a compaq presario V5000 with Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN installed. I recently tried to set up Wireless connection and "No Wireless Networks are available". My roommate has no problem connecting to the Wireless Network so I don't think its a problem with the router/modem. Also, I am unable to detect ANY networks (neighbors etc.).I have installed most recent driver (Driver 5.60.350.6)

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an HP Workstation that I have been working at constantly to get up and running on the network, it had "OpenCloudSecurity" adaware on it I believe and I was able to get that off with a couple of my freeware tools. The problem I am having is simply it will not connect to the network and only shows. 0Sent 0 Recieved and doesn't pull and IP configuration. I skimmed around and found that sometimes adaware/spyware can play with the TCPIP Stack and that your best bet is to reset the TCPIP stack and WINSOCK ; I did TCPIP Reset and Winsock multiple times with multiple reboots . I know it isn't the ethernet card because I popped in a live Ubuntu CD and it connected just fine on the wired ethernet.

It will either not find the signal, or not connect to it unless I have my laptop wired with an ethernet cable. My network adapter is a Broadcom 802.11n. It also happens when trying to stream video through Veetle or Sopcast. I have spent hours on google trying to find the solution to this and can't find anything. I have tried switching my firewall off, changing tons of settings of my wireless connection. I also updated my Broadcom wireless driver to the most recent one.

When I connect my laptop through A wire cable, it does connect but when I slide the wireless switch, it enables the Bluetooth but not the wireless, I have enabled Wireless in BIOS and yet nothing.

Computer recognized it and attempted to install using plug and play XP. Displayed the message that the driver(s) were missing. Went to Broadcom website and found the driver dl site clicked on the BCM94309M site but no driver(s) download available. Where I can download the drivers?
