My iPad cannot connect to my network wireless through WPA2 using router E4200 the way my Macbook is connected. Only using guest access i can get internet contact. Is this a known problem with this combination and/or is it meant to be, that only guest access gives an iPad connection?

My iPad 2.0 is able to connect to the internet via the router. However I am not able to print content from my iPad via the E4200 router (via Wifi using Cisco Connect software).

Roku tech support confirms the new Roku2 XS has a 5GHz (as well as 2.4GHz, or course) radio that supports n. I can connect no problem on 2.4GHz Mixed using WPA2 Personal, but not on 5GHz Mixed using WPA2. The Roku can't even see the SSID being broadcast. I don't have any other gear with a 5GHz radio to confirm the E4200 is actually broadcasting a 5GHz SSID.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHad an E4200 for a couple of months now and have not been able to resolve an issue with the router dropping an Apple iPad 2 at random times.The E4200 is replacing a Cisco Aironet 1200, which never dropped any clients, iPad 2 or others, and never displayed any of the issues below.
TECH DETAILS:The E4200 is being used purely as an access point. All extras are not in use and are disabled.

Hardware version 1.
BASIC ISSUE:The E4200 drops an Apple iPad 2 off the 2.4 Ghz Mixed (B, G, N) network. The user must then select the network to rejoin. Rejoining occurs without incident. The same issue occurs when the network is restricted to B, G. The drops occur at what appears to be random intervals - sometimes 10 minutes apart, sometimes hours apart. We can have as many as 6 drops in an hour. A ping to the apple ipad shows the device stops responding to pings about 10 seconds before the user is prompted to rejoin a network. Meanwhile, a ping to the E4200 itself from a laptop connected via the E4200 on the same radio as the ipad continues to work without fail during this incident.
1. The iPad 2's cannot connect to the 5Ghz radio. I believe iPad 2's are supposed to support 5Ghz.
2. Both our Apple TVs do not connect to the 5Ghz radio: they fail with a "There was an error connecting to the network. Check your settings and try again. (-3914)" error. Apple TV supports 5Ghz.
3. The admin interface for the E4200 is very slow sometimes. Probably over 20 seconds to render some pages when it gets really bad. As a comparison, Internet-based pages on fast sites that delivered via the E4200 itself load in less than 2 seconds.
4. The HTTPS version of the admin interface can only be connected to via Safari browers. Both Internet Explorer 9 and Chrome 16 fail to connect with a "Connection reset" error. In Chome, it says "Error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET): The connection was reset." This is across multiple devices. There is no issue with straight HTTP.
All other devices - including Macs and PCs - connect fine with the E4200 on both 5Ghz and 2.4 Ghz radios, even if they cannot access its admin interface via HTTPS.I've presented quite a few issues above, but the main one is the drop outs for the iPad 2 devices. I'd present logs on drops, but the thing doesn't record any useful logs.

I'm just wondering if there is an advantage to switching over to two e4200's. The trendnet adapater does not have a 5ghz channel.

My best choice was to disable every security configuration in order to began the throubleshooting from zero, but even with no Layer 2 and 3 security, the devices didn´t connect to my Test WLAN.
I´m using a AIR-CT2504-K9 WLC with two AIR-CAP3502I-A-K9 AP, all the PCs and other brand cellphones and tablets work well.
Also I have a SOHO router on the office, and the IPad connect without a problem with that WLAN, but I need them to connect to my Cisco AP.
I have kindle fire that is unable to connect to the wireless network.All otehr devices windows phone, xbox and laptop are able to connect seamlessly.Amazon also sent me a replacement, but the issue is still the same. The error is:
"Unable to connect to the selected access point, Please check the password you provided."
Also, I removed the security on the network to see if its able to connect without password.The state where it fails is Obtaining IP address and it fails again.

I can use the router with my laptop so I know the connection and password are ok.I've seen two administrators on here suggest the same thing. And one person responded that it worked. The identical directions were:
Try changing some advanced wireless settings on the router.Connect the computer to the router with the Ethernet cable. Open the setup page of the router.Click on wireless tab and set the configuration view to manual. Change the wireless channel to 11. Save the settings.Go to wireless tab and click on Advanced wireless settings.Change Beacon interval to 75, RTS threshold to 2307 and fragmentation threshold to 2306. Save the settings.Try to connect to the wireless network again and see if that works.
1 - I think my computer already is connected to the router with the Ethernet cable - I mean there is an Ethernet cable attached to both my computer and my router - in slot 1 on the router
2 - the only thing I know how to access is the Linksys EasyLink Advisor. What and where is the setup page of the router?
What should i do ? Reset ? How ? maybee i did not set the cable properly ( what is an ethernet cable ? ) the one i have is a short cable with what looks like telephone jacks at either ends. one end is plugged in my comcast modem and the other into my mini mac.

With an RDP app, i can access my work network from multiple public locations from my iPad. At home, on my laptop, I start the cisco client then use the windows rdp, presto i'm in my work network. At home on my iPad I can activate the VPN, but I can not connect with rdp. I spoke with linksys support tonight they had me add port 3389 to port range triggering and disable the firewall on the home router. This didn't solve the problem. View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a 5508 WLC and 40+ LAP1142N APs spread across 19 locations that allows staff to connect to our private network via wireless. I recently deployed about 40 new laptops all identical make and model HP ProBook 4530's and all have the same client setup for the wireless. Out of those 40 laptops I have 4 that will not connect to the private network. However, these same laptops will connect to my public, open wireless network without issue. In addition to the 4 that will not connect all the others will prompt twice for network authentication.Now, I have about 10 other laptops that are not the HP model and all connect without issue and without dual propt. I don't think this is a wireless network issue but could be some type of issue with this model of laptop.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've just purchased a new router (WRT160N) and wireless adapter (WMP600N). The problem is that I cannot connect to the router when I have it set to WPA or WPA2. At the same time my laptop with Atheros 9285n connects to router and works perfectly. When the wireless security disabled the wmp600n connects to the router without a problem and shows 300mbps connection speed and laptop 150mbps. When the router is set to WEP both laptop and pc with wmp600n connect but work very slow - 54mbps only.

I cannot ping or remote admin into any of them and I have enabled all the options to do so. The routers seem to work fine as WAPs, providing internet and network access.

I'm fairly decent in the router world since I am studying for my CCNA, so I have tried just about anything imaginable. I woke up this morning with no connection, checked the modem, then the router. The router was powered on, but the up/downstream lights were not doing a thing. The modem is not the issue (I am hardwired as of now). I have tried both resets, including unplugging the device, and still can't get a response out of it. The logo light will turn straight on (no fad in and out like it's suppose to) and then it does absolutely nothing. I have never encountered this sort of problem on a home router before. I can't login to the router either.

I am able to connect to my E4200 that is set as DHCP, but I cannot connect to the E4200 that is connected to that DHCP as Bridged.
How can I connect to that bridged E4200 because I want to upgrade the Firmware of the Bridged E4200?.
Been having problems connecting an old WGA54G v2 (firmware 1.16, March 29, 2005) to a new E4200 v2 (firmware 2.0.36) via WPA. I can get the two to connect using no encryption or WEP but not WPA. Using WEP is not an option for me,E4200 v2 wireless settings:
1. 5GHz broadcast is off, 2.4 GHz is on.
2. Network Mode - Mixed
3. Security Mode - WPA2/WPA Mixed Mode
4. Channel Width - Auto
5. Channel - Auto
6. Guest Access broadcast is off
WGA54G v2 settings:
1. SSID - same as router
2. Network type - Infrastructure
3. Security - enabled
4. Pre-shared key - same as router
5. Encryption - WPA Pre-shared Key, TKIP (tried AES, but still no connection)
Also, tried different WPA network modes on the router (Mixed, WPA personal, WPA2 personal etc.) to no avail. Switched between mixed, B and G network modes as well on e4200 v2 but still no connection. My guess now is that the WPA on the gaming adapter and the WPA on the router are just not compatible, as completely asinine as that sounds. Thought about updating firmware on the WGA54G v2 but checked in the download section here and the last firmware available is 1.13 (appears older than my 1.16, even though the 1.13 release date listed is a month after my 1.16).
I have this E4200 for about 3 months and allways has been used as an wireless router. Today i wanted to connect 2 wired computers to it via lan and whatever i do dosnt connect. Dosnt even let me acces the 192.168.1.1 page to router settings.I am on firmware 1.0.02, i also did a full reset and then did set up with cisco connect, did try that thing with the cisco usb connect and still no joy with the LAN conection.
One comp uses win 7 the other is on win xp. I can connect both comps succesfully to other router via the gigabit ports but not to this one.
