Change WPA / WPA2 Key Without Logging Into Router Page?
Feb 21, 2012
How do I change the WPA/WPA2 key, without logging into my router's page? What if, my wireless devices as home does not have a browser that I want them to be configured wirelessly?
Unable to see the logging message on the user context on ACE,but able to view the logging on the Admin Context.

I am configuring Clientless SSL VPN on ASA5505 with 8.2(2)17. After the login, default page should be "Home", but if activating "Anyconnect". it always goes to Anyconnect as a first page. If disabling "Anyconnect" using SSL VPN Customization Editor --> Portal --> Application, it always goes to the other one. Never get "Home" as a first page, can I set the first page manually?
Is it possible to change from WPA2 to WEP security without making international phone calls to Peggy? While I was away from home our WIFI went down, my daughter was able to get the network back but in the process she changed the security. The biggest problem is that my G3 iBook can see the network but can't sign in.
I am trying to change wpa2 key on an Aironet 1231g access point. Once I change they key, clients cannot authenticate to the access point unless they either change the password or forget and re add the network on the client device. Is there any way to make the client ask for a new key if the key doesn't match when authenticating?
I bought this wireless router the other day in order to get internet access on my Nintendo Wii. I set it up using the CD and followed all the instructions (made a password, wrote down the key, etc.) - and my Wii CAN detect it, but when I type in the key on the Wii I get an error message. I looked online and they said the way to fix that specific error is to "change the channel" on the router to 1 or 11. (It is currently 6). I type in my IP into the browser like I'm supposed to (the default IP of the router), but ALL the options on the page are greyed out and nothing is click-able. Here's a screenshot
I am using D-Link DIR-615, I need to ask is it possible that i change the error page "Forbidden Web Access" ? I have blocked some websites and i dont want ppl know that it is blocked by router because in D-Link default error msg it is clearly mentioned that " This page is not included in the router's Allowed Web Site List". Is it possible that i redirect error page to some other site? or change error message?
I have a WLC526 running sw version 4.2.61.8 that I finally got around to installing in my shop for testing after sitting on the shelf for several years. Since it's now out of warranty and I'm no longer certified getting the latest sw version isn't possible so I'm stuck with the version it shipped with.
1, How do we change the web log in page from https to http? No guest wants to get confronted with a certificate error page so https doesn't make sense.
2, The virtual interface used for Web-Auth provides for a DNS Name but if I set a name it won't resolve and the log in fails. If I delete the name it uses the assigned IP instead and works fine. How do I get the DNS Name to work since it looks more professional?
3, When changes are made to the WLC I was initially just applying the change and then saving the config but it appears for some of these changes to take affect I have to reboot. It this correct or am I just missing something.
Again some of these issues are probably addressed in the subsequent sw releases but since my device sat in a box for 3+ years I missed out on the opportunity to upgrade and now TAC is telling me { (no contract || no warranty == no software) }, despite the fact that this device reached its EOL.
I'm encountering what I think is an issue on logging system on FW ASA 5520 - Asa Version 8.4(2), ASDM version 6.4(5). When I disabled the logging inside a rule from ASDM, or from console with the "log disable" option inside ACL, If I check in ASDM logging real time window I continue to see all the entry related to disabled rules. This is a correct behaviour about ASA logging ? How I can "hide" the entry related to disabled rules (this is what I need for troubleshooting purposes) ?
I just bought a new samsung laptop and i was not able to connect to my wireless router
--I go into Wireless Network Connection and i am able to see my router along with the other routers in the area --I try to connect it doesnt let me, i change the pw on my router doesnt let me, i remove the pw from the router doesnt let me. --I connect a Ethernet cable to my laptop, im able to connect. --i Go to the samsung website dl all the drivers for the wireless network, cant connect --I use a wirelss adapter that i have for my desktop which works on my desktop, it cant connect --i grab my little brothers cell phone and activate wireless hotspot, i can connect --i switch my router settings from WPA2 Personal to WPA, i can connect --while connect to WPA i switch it back over to WPA2 personal, i get disconnected.
my question now is. why cant i connected to WPA2 personal? Is my connectivity limited on my laptop? can i only connect via WPA or WEP?
--Asus wireless router i connect my tablet, cell phone adapter with my desktop, 2 other phones, another 2 laptops, 2 other tablets and another desktop to it. I never had an issue with any of these items. --Windows 7 on all machine except for Linux on 1 laptop. --Samsung laptop has all the windows updates install and all the drivers for the network and even gpu up to date.
I have ASA 5510 with CSC-SSM-10 .ASA 5510 IOS version- 8.4.2 and CSC-SSM-10 IOS version 6.6.1162.Web filtering is working fine with respective to my configuration. From yesterday morning, i was facing issue with the sites like gmail, webmail. After giving credentials like username and password in the web page, the page is not resonding. In troubleshooting process, i removed all the acls, class maps which will direct all the traffic towards the CSC. In this scenario all my mail service sites are opening. If we apply the these ACLs and Class-Maps, only my mail service sites only affecting.
I'm looking for a tool that will let me log traffic from my Linksys router. I'm interested in seeing which devices are access thing internet from my home and to see what kind of bandwidth they are pulling down.
I have Comcast internet and a DLink DIR-655 router. I have a laptop, Playstation 3 and 2 Blackberrys hooked up on my wifi. I also think my neighbor is using or trying ot use my wifi.I need a software program or piece of hardware that will allow logging of the URL's that are requested through my router.I currently use OpenDNS, and the service itself is pretty good. However, it doesn't tell which user is requesting which URL, and if a website is visited with 10 ads on it, it also shows the URL's for the ad hosting company, even though they didn't actually type that URL in.
I bought a XBOX for my grandson and want to connect it to the internet for him. It wont connect without a WPA2 pass phrase. I tried entering 192.168.1.1 to access the router but it wont go though. I contacted Linksys and of course they said my router needed to be reconfigured at a cost.
I have a Linksys WRT330N router running firmware version v1.00.3.It currently is running WEP security but I want to secure it even better but dont know how to get it set to WPA2 security.
I have a WRT54GS v5 running firmware version 1.52.8. When I select the WPA wireless security mode, the encryption technique is fixed to TKIP - I am not given the option to change it to AES? I would really like to be able to select WPA- with AES (this is related to the WAP54G apparently not being able to do do WPA2 - AES in client mode).
I have the E4200 router, trying to change the security option to WEP to see if my WD TV live will connect to it, becuase right now with the WPA2 its not connecting.
I dont know why my WD TV live wont connect to the router, its visible in the list though!!
even my PS3 is having troubles connecting to the E4200 with the WPA2 security.
Network newbie here asking an embarrassing question on logging We have a Cisco router with the following IOS version. I want to enable logging; so do I need to configure event-log enable before adding the following logging configuration?
One of our client has a Cisco IOS router 2851 with Zone Based Firewalls, enabled.
We tried to configure the router to receive the logs and we receive it in the following format: <189>45: *Apr 11 11:22:14.757: %SYS-5-CONFIG_I: Configured from console by vty0 (10.151.xxx.xxx)<190>46: *Apr 11 11:23:13.109: %FW-6-DROP_PKT: Dropping tcp session 10.151.xxx.xxx:1908 212.58.xxx.xxx:80 due to RST inside current window with ip ident 0<189>47: *Apr 11 11:38:02: %SYS-5-CONFIG_I: Configured from console by vty0 (10.151.xxx.xxx)<190>48: *Apr 11 11:40:57: %FW-6-DROP_PKT: Dropping tcp session 10.151.xxx.xxx:2062 74.115.xxx.xxx:80 on zone-pair Outbound class CMAP_Inspect_Out due to Stray Segment with ip ident 0
However, we support the following format:
<190>3711348: 3711346: Jul 23 15:29:xxx.xxx IST: %FW-6-SESS_AUDIT_TRAIL_START: Start https session: initiator (172.16.14.71:2721) -- responder (132.183.xxx.xxx:443)<190>3711349: 3711347: Jul 23 15:29:59.465 IST: %FW-6-DROP_PKT: Dropping Other session 65.209.xxx.xxx:2721 132.183.106.17:443 due to RST inside current window with ip ident 49293 tcpflags 0x5014 seq.no 1653005683 ack 1796295020<190>3711350: 3711348: Jul 23 15:30:04.377 IST: %FW-6-SESS_AUDIT_TRAIL: Stop https session: initiator (172.16.xxx.xxx:2721) sent 807 bytes -- responder (132.183.xxx.xxx:443) sent 2062 bytes
What are the exact steps required to recieve the above format? If the logging needs to be enabled on Access Lists, need exact commands, from the console config mode?
I have a Linksys model WRT3110Nv2 and I cannot connect when my security is set WPA2 and i type in the correct password. it has no problem connecting when I set it to an unsecure network. ???
I have a WRT54GS. It is hardware version 2 and firmware version 3.37.7. I have it set for WPA AES security. For that hardware version it looks like I can only upgrade the firmware to version 4.71.4.001. Will that get me to WPA2 AES encryption?
I am using firmware version 1.0.04 build 6.I am having a few issues viewing the log; the incoming, outgoing and security logs are completely blank, the DHCP log is the only one populated.Even though it's populated, the time stamp displays the date as Jan 1 1970, time appears fine if I use UDT (Time is set to Mountain), the Router Status correctly displays the current time for my location.I vaguely remember the other logs worked with a previous firmware 1.0.03? Don't recall if the Date Time stamp was working correctly.
Just installed 2 E4200v2's for a customer today. Was very optimistic because they worked great in my lab, both for my Win7 laptop a MacBook. And after installing 1 on-site and testing w/ my laptop, it worked fine.BUT problems arose when I installed both at the same time (I don't think I ever did this in the lab) and then I tested some computers. Every computer that I tested (except mine of course), cannot authenticate correctly using the WPA2 password.
For the Mac's they get the error "The wi-fi network... requires a WPA2 password" then after entering the *correct* pswd, it says "Invalid password". They're a Mac shop, but I did try one other Win laptop and that also had a problem, and the error was something like "security mismatch" although I was rushed and didn't write it down.
I recently upgraded the firmware on my wrt 160N v3 and changed the wireless security to WPA2 Personal from WEP (I needed to do this to get higher speeds from a recently purchased wireless adapter). Now the router stops transmitting a signal intermittently for about a minute before coming back on line. The time between droppages is also not the same. Before the firmware upgrade (and the change in security settings) the router was rock solid. Where I can get the older version of the firmware (which seems to be more stable than the current version)?
My iPad cannot connect to my network wireless through WPA2 using router E4200 the way my Macbook is connected. Only using guest access i can get internet contact. Is this a known problem with this combination and/or is it meant to be, that only guest access gives an iPad connection?
Roku tech support confirms the new Roku2 XS has a 5GHz (as well as 2.4GHz, or course) radio that supports n. I can connect no problem on 2.4GHz Mixed using WPA2 Personal, but not on 5GHz Mixed using WPA2. The Roku can't even see the SSID being broadcast. I don't have any other gear with a 5GHz radio to confirm the E4200 is actually broadcasting a 5GHz SSID.
I have been researching this for some time now and I can't find a solution to fit my needsI'm deployed in Afghanistan and on the base the local company they brought in has a hard wired network setup which makes you log in for internet. I want to setup wireless off of that with my own router and charge a smaller price. I know this sounds bad but they charge a pretty absurd amount. I would like to lessen that amount for the guys in my unit by splitting the price between everyone. I would like to make it look good though.
The login for the existing internet is a web based login. So, what I have come across so far is I need a router that will support logging into a web based login and support a landing page that will charge/ accept Paypal payments for new accounts and will expiredaily/weekly/monthly based on what they choose. I would like to set this up like you as a customer were loging in at a regular hot spot if that makes sense.
I'm thinking of switching to another ISP which is faster and cheaper than who I'm currently with. Only problem is they have data caps. Any way to log inbound/outbound traffic usage with this router so that I can make sure I'm not going to hit monthly limits?
I have a Linksys E3000, have had it successfully connected for three months now. Recently I attempted to connect my xbox 360 to the wifi and had issues connecting it. So I called ATT to obtain the PPPoE username and password, which they reluctantly gave me. Entered that into the xbox and still unable to connect, so I have given up on the xbox for the time being, I'll post that issue in a different forum. Where my issue is now is since contacting ATT the WPA2 password I set up for the router no longer works. I cannot access the router setup page, and I cannot add any new wifi devices. Although, all of the previously connected wifi devices are still connected to the router despite this issue. Is there anyway to make the old password work, or do I have to reset the router and start from scratch, and God forbid contact ATT again?
