Can't Connect To WPA2 Personal On Router
Sep 28, 2012
I just bought a new samsung laptop and i was not able to connect to my wireless router
--I go into Wireless Network Connection and i am able to see my router along with the other routers in the area
--I try to connect it doesnt let me, i change the pw on my router doesnt let me, i remove the pw from the router doesnt let me.
--I connect a Ethernet cable to my laptop, im able to connect.
--i Go to the samsung website dl all the drivers for the wireless network, cant connect
--I use a wirelss adapter that i have for my desktop which works on my desktop, it cant connect
--i grab my little brothers cell phone and activate wireless hotspot, i can connect
--i switch my router settings from WPA2 Personal to WPA, i can connect
--while connect to WPA i switch it back over to WPA2 personal, i get disconnected.
my question now is. why cant i connected to WPA2 personal? Is my connectivity limited on my laptop? can i only connect via WPA or WEP?
--Asus wireless router i connect my tablet, cell phone adapter with my desktop, 2 other phones, another 2 laptops, 2 other tablets and another desktop to it. I never had an issue with any of these items.
--Windows 7 on all machine except for Linux on 1 laptop.
--Samsung laptop has all the windows updates install and all the drivers for the network and even gpu up to date.

I recently upgraded the firmware on my wrt 160N v3 and changed the wireless security to WPA2 Personal from WEP (I needed to do this to get higher speeds from a recently purchased wireless adapter). Now the router stops transmitting a signal intermittently for about a minute before coming back on line. The time between droppages is also not the same. Before the firmware upgrade (and the change in security settings) the router was rock solid. Where I can get the older version of the firmware (which seems to be more stable than the current version)?

Roku tech support confirms the new Roku2 XS has a 5GHz (as well as 2.4GHz, or course) radio that supports n. I can connect no problem on 2.4GHz Mixed using WPA2 Personal, but not on 5GHz Mixed using WPA2. The Roku can't even see the SSID being broadcast. I don't have any other gear with a 5GHz radio to confirm the E4200 is actually broadcasting a 5GHz SSID.

I own an E1000. It is hooked up to a Motorola cable modem via Comcast. I have a personal website sohebvahora.com (still under construction) where I use cpanel to administer it. I somehow lost all connectivity to my website midday and have not been able to connect back to it in a few days. Every other site I have gone to works except mine. It doesn't make sense. Also, I tried connecting my laptop directly to the Motorola modem and my personal site loads, so it has to be the router. I have tried different devices connected to the router as well, like my ipad, iphone, and other laptops, but the website doesnt load on them either

This is a 5-year-oldish Gateway MX-6124 laptop running under Win XP 2002, SP3. I'm using SureWest DSL, with an ISP-supplied ComTrend NexusLink 5631 Modem/Router. The router is set up as a Secure Network, using WPA encryption. The laptop wireless operation light toggles off/on correctly using Fn-F2 control keys.I can connect to an open or non-secured wireless router, & have verified that at my church, at the Public Library, and at Starbucks. However, I cannot successfully connect to a passworded secured wireless source. I tried to use a secured network connection at my church yesterday, and could not connect. It "tries & tries" and eventually gives up and displays a cannot-connect type of message.
The laptop has worked correctly for several years on my home wireless network. It only stopped working about 3 or 4 weeks ago. I cannot recall changing anything in setup; I probably did it accidentally.I've spent about 2 hours in a couple of sessions with SureWest tech support. They diagnosed router setup using direct connect to the router, plus they talked me through several attempts at configuring the wireless config setup on the laptop. Everything I reported to them on the config settings appeared to be just fine. They also deduced that the wireless config on the desktop & router was correct.SureWest techs finally concluded that something was wrong with my laptop software config or the hardware, disabling it from making a encrypted connection. That sounds right to me, now having witnessed the secured connection failure described above, at my church wireless site.
I've looked at all the refs & things I can think of, plus followed step-by-step directions a couple of times with the SureWest techs. They rightfully pointed out that they could not make a tech support repair call on what did not appear to be a SureWest-related problem.I can easily make screenshots of any config screens needed on the laptop & upload to this forum.

I've a Windows 2008 R2 install. I have a getnet GN-621u wireless adapter. I can connect with no encryption to my wireless router bu with wpa2-psk(aes) it fails. I have a laptop with win 7 on 64-bit and it can connect with the same wireless adapter with encryption enabled no problems. I'm guessing its MS's awesome server/workstation compatibility (not) getting in the way and this card simply doesn't work too well on the server environment. (its just a "workstation" that i'm using to develop sharepoint apps),

I've just purchased a new router (WRT160N) and wireless adapter (WMP600N). The problem is that I cannot connect to the router when I have it set to WPA or WPA2. At the same time my laptop with Atheros 9285n connects to router and works perfectly. When the wireless security disabled the wmp600n connects to the router without a problem and shows 300mbps connection speed and laptop 150mbps. When the router is set to WEP both laptop and pc with wmp600n connect but work very slow - 54mbps only.

My wifi was previously unprotected. I switched to WPA2 and now can't connect to my network. In the set up, it can't even see the adapter. The lights tell me that the adapter is talking to my computer. The ethernet and wifi lights blink. What can I do other than unprotect my network? How can I set this up manually if the computer can't even see it?

I have a 5508 WLC and 40+ LAP1142N APs spread across 19 locations that allows staff to connect to our private network via wireless. I recently deployed about 40 new laptops all identical make and model HP ProBook 4530's and all have the same client setup for the wireless. Out of those 40 laptops I have 4 that will not connect to the private network. However, these same laptops will connect to my public, open wireless network without issue. In addition to the 4 that will not connect all the others will prompt twice for network authentication. Now, I have about 10 other laptops that are not the HP model and all connect without issue and without dual propt. I don't think this is a wireless network issue but could be some type of issue with this model of laptop.

I can't seem to be able to access my personal website from any of my home devices: computer,2xlatop,android phone all give me the same message: "Cannot connect to thebianchifam.mercury-gaming.com" I've been trying to connect with Google Chrome, IE and Firefox yet none of them work on either of the devices. I've asked other people to connect to the website and everyone says it's working just fine. I even used teamviewer on another computer in America and saw myself that it was working just fine. Also using the website : url... lets me connect just fine to website but It's rather annoying having to use a proxy server to do all the intensive forum work. I've been reading around all the forums and have found people with the same problem but none of them actually posted back saying how they fixed it. I was literally editing a blog page when I clicked on update and the website didn't let me connect anymore. I've tried flushing the DNS through CMD line with the "ipconfig /flushdns" command but it has yet to do anything. I restarted the rooter in the hope it will work but no succees. url...

I have a WRT54GS v5 running firmware version 1.52.8. When I select the WPA wireless security mode, the encryption technique is fixed to TKIP - I am not given the option to change it to AES? I would really like to be able to select WPA- with AES (this is related to the WAP54G apparently not being able to do do WPA2 - AES in client mode).

I am running a zyxel nsa-325 series Network Storage device with 6 TBs of HD space. This NAS has a Linux kernel and 512mg of DDRIII ram. It is also running a Polkast personal cloud application that enables access to all the files through a simple UI rather than having to use FTP server login credentials (which I have also set-up).My home office is set up with Frontier as the ISP and they provide a locked down router/modem that you are not "supposed" to replace. It is made by speedstream and does not allow editing of the dns server or anything else that would be considered needed.I have set it up as the primary router with an ip range of 192.168.0.1 with a subnet of 250.250.250.0..I have several devices (printers, PC's etc plugged into this device via lan.Wireless broadcast and access is disabled...
My primary router is a Sapido 5000 series Gigabit router.I have this router broadcasting a wirelessB/G/N siganl for mobile devices to connect to. The NAS that I opened the thread with is plugged into this router via lan (Cat7).The Ip range of this router is set at 192.168.1.1 with a subnet of 250.250.250.0.All devices on the sapido router have access to the internet, as well as the services of the first router (networked printers, and speedstream router login for admin if needed).I can access the Zyxel NAS (192.168.1.104) from the PCs (192.168.0.2) connected to the speedstream, as well as the mobile devices and laptops (192.168.1.110-150) connected to the sapido.I have installed polkast which is an application that runs in the background on the NAS. It allows web access to all of the files (work docs, multi-media, ebooks, iso files, batch files for utilities etc. from a cell phone, tablet, pc, laptop, any device I want. I should be able to access the files from the web and also on the local WLAN to allow file transfers from the NAS to the device in seconds..When I am on the WLAN I can copy/stream a video file that is approximately 1GB in seconds. However, When I am on 3g 4g or at another location I do not have access. Polkast has simply said that I have an incorrect network configuration. I have confirmed that allk the Polkast side settings are fine and their user support has also confirmed that everything is as it should be. So they insist that the problem lies with my 2 routers. Their suggestion was to go back to using 1 router (HeeHee). I can RDP into any computer on my network from anywhere in the world. So the configurations seem fine. I also have FTP access to the NAS so I believe the ports are all forwarded correctly.

I have a Linksys WRV200 WiFi router and read the documentation about it's VPN capabilities. Now I was wondering whether it could be possible to use it as my personal VPN while traveling abroad, instead of subscribing to 3rd-party personal VPN services? The idea here is:
1- my WRV200 router is at home, linked to my cable ISP, running the VPN service.
2- I'm abroad with my iPhone or iPad or my laptop and want to use public WiFi services but through a VPN (encryption).
Can I, say, from a public WiFi point in New York, connect with my iPad/laptop VPN service to my home router (in Geneva, Switzerland) and surf the web through it?Having everything encrypted from my iPad to my Home router, then everything redirected from Home to the appropriate address I connect to?My router doesn't have a fixed IP.That would be just like services like WifiGuardian, Personalvpn.com, witopia.net, but without subscribing or paying for the jservice?

in my house we currently have a ps3, 2 xbox's, a wii, 4 iphones, 2 pc's, a laptop, an apple tv, and 2 android tablets running off one internet connection. In my room, i have my PC, my xbox, and my apple tv. as you can imagine, my internet is painfully slow, although we have the fastest available from our provide (7mb per second i believe) running wired is fine but theres no way of me being able to do that. How could i go about setting up a second private network for my devices only? i would want to run my apple tv, pc, phone and xbox off of connection. without it being as painfully slow as my home network. i was thinking perhaps an airport extreme, and running it off of my router.

Just installed 2 E4200v2's for a customer today. Was very optimistic because they worked great in my lab, both for my Win7 laptop a MacBook. And after installing 1 on-site and testing w/ my laptop, it worked fine.BUT problems arose when I installed both at the same time (I don't think I ever did this in the lab) and then I tested some computers. Every computer that I tested (except mine of course), cannot authenticate correctly using the WPA2 password.
For the Mac's they get the error "The wi-fi network... requires a WPA2 password" then after entering the *correct* pswd, it says "Invalid password". They're a Mac shop, but I did try one other Win laptop and that also had a problem, and the error was something like "security mismatch" although I was rushed and didn't write it down.
