Home Network :: Need A Router That Will Support Logging Into A Web Based Login?

Oct 29, 2011

I have been researching this for some time now and I can't find a solution to fit my needsI'm deployed in Afghanistan and on the base the local company they brought in has a hard wired network setup which makes you log in for internet. I want to setup wireless off of that with my own router and charge a smaller price. I know this sounds bad but they charge a pretty absurd amount. I would like to lessen that amount for the guys in my unit by splitting the price between everyone. I would like to make it look good though.

The login for the existing internet is a web based login. So, what I have come across so far is I need a router that will support logging into a web based login and support a landing page that will charge/ accept Paypal payments for new accounts and will expiredaily/weekly/monthly based on what they choose. I would like to set this up like you as a customer were loging in at a regular hot spot if that makes sense.

Logging Network Traffic Of Small Home LAN?

Jun 6, 2011

We have a small download limit every month and keep ramming into only days into our billing period. I am trying to identify the culprit but need to find a way to log the traffic of individual IP address (which are all static) on the network to figure out where all the bandwidth is going. Any (preferably free) application that will allow me to monitor this?

Network Infrastructure:

Modem connected to NetGear N2000 (older model) Router 192.168.0.1
Family Desktop - 0.2 (Ethernet)
My Desktop - 0.3 (Powerline Ethernet)
Brothers Laptop - 0.5 (Wireless)
My PS3 - .0.30 (Wireless)
iPods - (Wireless)

Router only tells me when someone is on and can track total network traffic usage not individual hardware.

Can't Network Windows 7 With XP Home - Login Error

Sep 3, 2011

I have 2 PC at home and would like to network them together so i could share the resources between them. But i could only manage to setup 'one way' - the XP Home could access the Windows 7 Ultimate but not the other way Whenever i double click on the XP Home, it will prompt me to login. But no matter what i enter, it will say its wrong. What weird is the 'domain'. The login dialog will show that im login into 'Domain: Windows7PC' when im trying to login into the XP. And after i have enter 'wrongly', it will show the username as 'Windows7PCusername' and ask to try again - it means im login into the Windows 7 And if i try to prefix the PC's name in front - \WindowsXPusername then it will prompt \WindowsXP is not accessible..... The specified username is invalid

Here is my 'settings'-

Windows 7 Ultimate SP1
Windows XP Home SP3
Both is on the same Workgroup/IPGroup/Netmask
Both has File & Printer Sharing Enabled
Have patch XP with KB922120v6

Cisco Routers :: RV042 Browser Certificate Errors When Logging Into Web-based Gui

Router is Linksys-branded, using latest firmware for this hardware (1.3.13.02-tm)

If I can do this, how can I ensure that each connection entry only has access to specific IP addresses on the internal network?

DLink DIR-655 - Network Router Logging

Mar 24, 2012

I have Comcast internet and a DLink DIR-655 router. I have a laptop, Playstation 3 and 2 Blackberrys hooked up on my wifi. I also think my neighbor is using or trying ot use my wifi.I need a software program or piece of hardware that will allow logging of the URL's that are requested through my router.I currently use OpenDNS, and the service itself is pretty good. However, it doesn't tell which user is requesting which URL, and if a website is visited with 10 ads on it, it also shows the URL's for the ad hosting company, even though they didn't actually type that URL in.

Cisco WAN :: VS Based 720 Supervisor As Minimum To Support Full BGP On Catalyst 6509-E

Nov 18, 2011

I'm currently in the process of evaluating potential equipment options for a Core Router/Switch that will be running BGP with several Tier 1 ISP's, the table download from each ISP will be full (300,000+ Routes). I was looking at a 6509-E with dual SUP720-3BXL supervisors but after reading the below link I'm a little concerned by the maximum routes table: [URL]

Do I have to go to the VS based 720 supervisor as a minimum to support full BGP on a 6509-E? Does any experience of the above switch + supervisor combination under a full BGP table, how well does it work? I'm looking at long term using this as a consolidated core (i.e. a VRF for the Global Internet routing table + a VRF for internal data center traffic, plus maybe some more shared VRF's).

Would I be better keeping a Core switch by itself and just buying edge routers to run BGP?

Add A Router To A Rj45 Based Network?

Mar 26, 2011

I live in an apartment where my internet is included in the rent. In all the rooms there is an ethernet socket buillt into the wall. I'd like to know how to connect a router to this for wireless internet. I have tried one router, but it buggers up the ip address and brings down the network for the entire apartment complex. I've done this twice now and don't fancy waiting another week for the technician to call out to reset things. I had a friend who lived in a simalar complex, rj45 sockets on the wall etc. He has a thomson router, which has a little black box plugged into the ethernet socket on the back of the router. Into this little black box goes the ethernet cable from the wall socket and bam, he has wireless internet, even though he has no access to the main router or switch of the apartment block. It's not failed once either. Both the router and the little black box need mains power.I think it was originally for a WIMAX connection. It's small, maybe 2"X3" inch?

Home Network :: Advanced Home Network Setup (3 Subnets) And Port Forwarding?

Feb 24, 2013

I have a Time Warner Cable business class service with no static IP, with a wireless modem which is plugged to a CAT5 distribution panel. On the jacks (2 other rooms on the house) I have a Linksys E3000 and a Linksys Valet router for signal boost and gadgets usage (TV, cameras, etc). The main router (TWC) has it's own external IP which TWC assigns to me and internally distributes via DHCP the range 192.168.0.x. With that said:

- The E3000 has a 192.168.0.6 IP -- this is fixed setup on the TWC router (ubee brand) by MAC address
- The Valet has a 192.168.0.7 IP -- this is fixed setup on the TWC router (ubee brand) by MAC address
- The main router has the 192.168.0.1 as the gateway and web-interface

Whenever I connect something to the E3000, it is distributing the 192.168.1.x range and the valet 192.168.2.x range. That works perfectly for my home based business until I decided to use more stuff on the network such as a IP printer, IP cameras, etc.

- The IP cameras are connected to the E3000 due to signal strength and I have manually assigned them the 192.168.1.15 and 192.168.1.16 IPs and ports 9001 and 9002.

- The printer is connected to the E3000 and I have manually assigned the IP 192.168.1.30.

Issue 1: Port forwarding On the main router (TWC - UBEE) I have tried to setup a port forwarding by informing the Local IP as 192.168.0.6 (E3000 IP), Internal Port 0, Public Interface IP (0.0.0.0), Ext Start Port 9001, Ext End Port 9001, Protocol - Both, Enabled Yes. On the E3000 I did the same config (screen shot attached e3000.png).This is not working properly. I can't get into the camera.

Issue 2: Printer/ The printer is only accessible if I connect to the E3000 (because it is on the 192.168.1.x network)

Issue 3: How to configure all the devices on the same subnet? If I want everyone to be on the 192.168.0.x network, how to configure properly the E3000 and the Valet? I have tried to force them into the same network but it would not work properly. It would not get an IP from the UBEE router (main).

Home Network :: Need Input On Network At Home Newly Wired

I want to get the modem and router out of my computer room and in the basement where the cable enters the house. I want to do this to clean up the computer room wiring a bit and to run line drops to different rooms in the house where the internet will be utilized.Currently there are two PC's, a laptop, a tablet, sometimes a phone, and an XBOX using the internet. I want to get my printer back up and running on the network but thats another story. Only one PC is currently hardwired. I would like to run two cables into the room with the PC and XBOX that are currently using wireless, at least two into the computer room for the PC and network printer, and one or two into the living room for the blue ray player and possibly an internet tv.

D-Link DIR-655 :: Router Doesn't Support Network

Jan 19, 2011

I have decided to buy a new wireless N enabled wireless router after my house was cleaned out by some robbers. After a long investigation I decided on the D-link DIR 655 as it suited my basic needs the best and since I haven't decided on a broadband supplier yet this should sort any and all possibilities no matter what I choose...

After an equal amount of investigation I decided on a HSPA+ USB dongle only to find that the router does not support the network I have purchased it on. It thenalso seems that it doesn't support the E1820 Huawei dongle either... so fine... I go and buy a Huawei D105 tht should technically be able to connect via the WAN port and would act as an internet gateway. Brilliant.

Now I have tried everything.... static IP on the D105 with a static IP setup on the 655. Connects fine... according to the web interface but NO INTERNET. When I connect my laptop directly to the 105 via CAT5 it works beautifully. DHCP on the D105 with the same on the 655. Connecting... Establishing Link (Please Wait...) FOREVER without ever getting an IP on the 655 (according to the web interface again) ... must be the D105 thats faulty so again plug in the laptop and within milliseconds the IP is assigned and Internet is blazing along again.... The D105 is not Wireless N so I cannot use it as my primary AP and only allows 5 simultaneous wireless connections (that is reserved for my cellphones). Why should I anyway?? the DIR655 should work fine....

Even after having taken it to D-link support at huge cost and effort I still don't have a working rig.... Seems the consultant plugged the D105 straight into the LAN on the 655 and then set his laptop to the same static range to get it to work... SURPRISE - I know that works since plugging the laptop straight into the 105 does the same thing.... But this is not what I want... I want my 655 to be the primary DHCP server for my network and control the allowed workstations that are allowed access to the internet with a working gateway. Bridging is apparently also not an option as that option has been removed so I cannot even bridge my main subnet onto the D105's internet sbnet... What am I to do....

If the 655 3G setup supported more than 2 dongles I might hve been able to use that and not spend anouther R600 on the D105, if the WAN port actually worked in either static or DHCP modes with the D105 that also would have solved the problem and lastly if all else fails and there was still bridging I could hack my own setup together to do what I want. Seems like I was wrong in selecting the D-link product.

Then to make matters worse I find another product with double the features online for half the price that integrates the 3G capability into the route and support more than 2 different models. including all the new Huawei dongles....

Home Network :: Playing MPEG-2 File In Webpage From Home Server?

Dec 20, 2012

I have setup a webserver on my home PC and I have forwarded port 80 on my router to the IP adress of the PC that is running the web server. The web server is working great; I can get to my web pages from outside of my home by going to http://MyIpAddress/Anyway, the problem is with the Windows Media Player plugin I'm using. I want to embed 6GB MPEG-2 videos into my web pages. I have some videos on my PC and I want to be able to watch them remotely by connecting into my web page. It works fine when I'm at home; other PCs can connect and play the videos no problem. The problem is when I'm at work. When I'm at work, I go to my web page (via my IP address in a web browser) and the Media Player plugin says "Connecting" for a minute, then it says Ready, but the video will not play. I tried using a smaller, AVI file (680 MB) instead to see if the problem was streaming such a large file, but the video still would not play.Do I need to foward more ports on my router so that Windows Media Player can connect back and get the information it needs?
