I have a Realtek RTL8187 Wi-Fi adapter. I've got the latest drivers, and can configure my access point with WPA2-PSK, yet I'm unable to connect when using this authentication. I can keep the system open and it works great, even with WEP encryption, yet WPA2 does not seem to work.
View 6 RepliesI've a Windows 2008 R2 install. I have a getnet GN-621u wireless adapter. I can connect with no encryption to my wireless router bu with wpa2-psk(aes) it fails. I have a laptop with win 7 on 64-bit and it can connect with the same wireless adapter with encryption enabled no problems. I'm guessing its MS's awesome server/workstation compatibility (not) getting in the way and this card simply doesn't work too well on the server environment. (its just a "workstation" that i'm using to develop sharepoint apps),
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inpiron 1564 Laptop having Windows 7. It has Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-Card network adapter.
When I connect to my router using WEP 64-bit, I can connect successfully to my wireless connection.
But when I try to connect using WPA/WPA2 settings, it always shows Limited Access or No Connection.
So got an Xbox 360 slim and if I try to connect to route with WPA2 if fails. If I change to WPA or set up a second SSID with WPA it connects and works fine.If I connect Xbox to another router with WPA2 it works fine.Same results picking AES or TKIP for security type.The xbox is used in a break room and really don't like the fact that I need to have another ssid and it be less secure, esp as WPA2 has been out long enough this shouldn't be an issue. I test 4 other routers and WPA2 and xbox all work fine but not this one but this is the one I have to use due to feature needs.

View 1 Replies View Relatedhaving a problem with my Linksys wireless adapter: the light will flash a few times when I plug it in, then it will turn off. It won't let me connect to the internet or my printer.It's not the port: it is recognized when I put it in any other port, but it still won't connect. I think it's a virus, but my antivirus software isn't showing anything when I run a full scan (I use Malwarebytes Free). I'm gonna put AVG on a flash drive from another computer and try to use that later today, but right now I've been thinking that I might have to back everything up and reinstall windows.

earlier i got a BSOD and researched this and it turned out to be due to my wireless network adapter. I didn't think anything of it until i tried to connect wireless to the internet (usually use Ethernet) and i couldn't due to problems with my adapter. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the network adapter, i have tried drivers Etc with no luck

It's been approximately a week, and the computer has been on most of the time...roughly 8-12 hours of a day, not in use the whole time, however. Then today when I booted up my computer, the wireless adapter didn't turn on! It's like a little USB thingy...and when i took it out, it was extremely hot, even though it wasn't doing anything! I tried multiple USB slots as well, to no avail...What basically happens is I put in the CD-rom installation disk, then when it prompts me, I plug in the adapter...and then it takes me to the connect to network screen, at this point the adapter has it's little wireless light blinking, then I try to connect to network, the light stops blinking and turns off, and it just tries connecting to the network for an eternity.

I have never had wireless on this computer and I have always been hard lined directly to the router without any problems of connecting to the net. I installed the software, am able to connect to my network with full bars, but have limited/no activity. I unplugged everything and hooked up the modem 1st, router 2nd, and turned on the computer last, but no luck.

I took the USB wireless adapter (belkin 54g usb network adapter, which stills works on my old computer) and installed onto the new one. It shows good strength but is limited or no connectivity and will not allow any Internet access. ipcong/renew, win socket commands and all my settings are correct.

It remained orange(which is its off state) and so I went to the device manager and the wifi adapter was shown there but with an exclamation mark. Showing the error "the device cannot be started(code 10)". So I uninstalled and rebooted, only to get the same error when it got reinstalled.

After various uninstalls and reinstalls of the drivers and programs that come with it, I have found currently the best way to get it to work is leave the D-Link programs uninstalled and have Windows install the driver itself.The problem is, it doesn't seem to keep the drivers on restarting, so every time the computer is restarted, it must be installed again. This is not ideal.It occasionally worked when I installed from the CD, but the D-Link programs that would install with the drivers created problems of their own.

But when I boot into windows, it doesn't. I have installed all the drivers and software I could find for it. But the programs for it don't open at all and for some reason i cant even configure it using windows "Connect to". (You know how usually you get the little wireless icon at the bottom of the screen and stuff)

Now I can't get internet at all even if I move it back to the front! My network doesn't show up under connections. Both the playstation 3 and the netbook are picking up the wireless signal from the router.
View 19 Replies View RelatedI reformatted my father's laptop, upgrading the OS from Vista to Windows 7 but now the wireless network adapter isn't working. Basically, the laptop doesn't know that it has wireless. In device manager there is an exclamation mark against the "Atheros AR5007UG Wireless Network Adapter" entry. I've tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it, restarting the computer, updating the driver etc but it always fails to install the driver correctly. I don't know for sure the model of the network adapter, (windows tells me it's atheros but I'm not convinced seeing as the driver always fails to install) so I can't go to the manufacturer's website to download the latest drivers. I opened up the laptop but couldn't see any brand names on the network card. I don't have the cd's with the drivers on them.

I did a system restore on it back to before the windows update and the internet was working just fine but then there was an automatic windows update again and the connection is gone again. When I try to troubleshoot it says the network adapter is not working properly. I'm currently using the main computer in the house. I can't access any network at all on my laptop and I'm nearly in tears. This has happened before about 7 months ago after a windows update. At that time I did a system restore and reinstalled the updates and it worked just fine. This time nothing. I have tried to check for updated drivers for the network adapters but windows says I'm running the recent ones.

I know this is a common problem and I HAVE tried everysingle suggestion posted on this forum, including but not limited to: reinstalling drivers, making sure the adapter is configured for the appropriate gateway and even doing a full restore to factory defaults. NOTHING has worked.

The operating system says that the adaptor is turned off but it isn't. It didn't automatically connect to the wifi, so I opened the connections window to connect to a network and it said "Windows cannot find any networks." I refreshed several times and nothing happened. I clicked the option underneath "Diagnose why windows can't find any networks," and it came back with "This computer does not have a wireless adapter installed and configured." I then opened up the device manager, and under network Adapters, the only thing is "Intel(R) 82566DC-2 Gigabit Network Connection." I checked it out and it says it's working properly, and I believe that this adapter is for when you actually connect a cable directly to the PC.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using HP Pavillion dv3-2165ee Win7 32bit with Atheros A9285 WLAN adapter.problem is that my notebook is not detecting any wireless network.it is as if my adapter is turned off. when i switch it on, Bluetooth works but WLAN dont. I tried turning it on/off couple of times but it didnt work. I'm not sure if is just a timing, but it started when im on a cafe when i plugged in my friend's flash drive then after a while i lost all available wireless networks that time.At first i assumed it's because of virus, so i tried driver reinstall/reformatting/recovery disc but nothing solved the problem.
When I browse the net, i saw this Xirrius Wifi Inspector so i downloaded it with a cable connection then when i used it, it was able to detect the wireless network i have in my house but just for a couple of seconds, and the network disappeared.I tried other drivers, but i didn't work. As i've said earlier it is as if turned off.I've run this diagnostic test from Atheros driver and got this result with my WLAN switched on.While on this screeny, you can see in HP Wireless Assistant that my WLAN & is enabled, but at the same time Windows Mobility Center is indicating that my WLAN is not just turned off but it is like there is nothing there.
The wireless adapter keeps saying unidentified network, I can connect from other computers and they are all working fine.
Edit: Forgot to mention its a ASUS wireless n-15 adapter, also the system is a Windows 7 64 bit. Also, has a ip address 169.x.x.x which i know means no internet connection.
WE've been using the Asoka pluglink adapters we received from at&t and they worked very well to where we can move them anywhere in the house. Now they've just stopped working all together. We didn't change anything to where they stopped working. But the weirdest part: they just started working again yesterday and now are not. I did not influence any of these changes and I'm not sure where the problem is. I've tried swapping out the adapters cause we have three and we only use two at a time. Our current setup is a linksys wrt54g with ddwrt which is what we plug one of the adapters to and the other is in my room cause we are out of range for wireless. When testing the network it says we join an unidentified network but have no internet access.

It was working perfectly with the same operating system previously but after the new installation the wifi sign from the desktop has disappeared. I install wlan broadcomm files for the wifi adapter but with no results. When I press the wifi button on keyboard it shows bluetooth device not discoverable.
