The wireless adapter keeps saying unidentified network, I can connect from other computers and they are all working fine.
Edit: Forgot to mention its a ASUS wireless n-15 adapter, also the system is a Windows 7 64 bit. Also, has a ip address 169.x.x.x which i know means no internet connection.

I did not validate the version of windows because I was waiting to replace the 500g hard drive with a 120 ssd. By the time I recieved the ssd windows validation time had expired, I tried to validate the version of windows and I could not because the network adapter was now gone! This is strange because when I first built it it as fine and I was all over the internet via broadband ethernet cable.Now the internet box has a red x and will not recognize the cable and no lights are flashing on the back as well. It seems I ned to reinstall the driver so I used another computer and downloaded the only LAN file from ASUS website and nothing.

I did a system restore on it back to before the windows update and the internet was working just fine but then there was an automatic windows update again and the connection is gone again. When I try to troubleshoot it says the network adapter is not working properly. I'm currently using the main computer in the house. I can't access any network at all on my laptop and I'm nearly in tears. This has happened before about 7 months ago after a windows update. At that time I did a system restore and reinstalled the updates and it worked just fine. This time nothing. I have tried to check for updated drivers for the network adapters but windows says I'm running the recent ones.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have recently purchased an ASUS PCE-N13 wireless adapter, and I cannot get it to work for the life of me! I have tried installing the driver from the disk, however, when I try and look it up under device manager, I go to the "Other Devices" section as instructed and it just says "Unknown Device" instead of what it is supposed to say according to the manual. I have tried installing the Ralink driver, however I don't know if that was done correctly or not. I have gone through my BIOS and enabled the PCI slots power, so it isn't that.

I have problems with wifi. When I install windows 8 or Ubuntu wifi works fine, but with windows 7 even adapter not working.

Windows 7 can't find update automatically and wifi driver from dell support site closes installation without finishing it.I would stay with windows 8, but there is another problem. Radeon drivers not working same as wifi on windows 7.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an Asus Model U56E. Recently the wireless has been disappearing whenever I turn off my laptop. What I mean is that when I turn on my laptop, the wireless doesnt seem to exist. I go under device manager and all I have is the eternet and my bluetooth device. About 85% of the time, when I go under "action" and click on "scan for hardware changes" the my Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N1030 will show up along with the Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adaptor and I'll get my wireless back. However, when my laptop turns off, the same thing happens.
In addition, my fn F2 button no longer seems to work. I'll press on it and majority of the time my light that signals that the wireless is working does not turn on. Most of the time it stays off whether or not I am connected to the wireless
This is what I already attempted to fix it, based on googling for answers:
1. Under the properties of my wireless and miniport adapter, I went under power management and unchecked the box that says "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
2. I went to my laptop's power plan and changed all my wireless adapter settings "power saving mode" to maximum performance for both battery and cord
3. I went to the intel website, had it look at my laptop wireless system and followed their recommendation of installing an updated wireless software thing. All that happened was that it told me to disable my old wireless and then install it. However, even though I followed their instructions, it continued to repeat the same message. I had to perform a system restore to get my old wireless back
4. I disabled wireless console 3 (by Asus) under programs and it seemed to work. My laptop was getting connected whenever I turned it on. However, the next day my laptop updated itself (b/c of my system restore) and I am back to the same situation except my wireless console is still disabled.

A few days ago my internet suddenly stopped working. I plugged in the ethernet cord and everything worked fine. Checking the properties in the device manager showed the device was working properly, I also tried resetting it to make sure it was enabled but it did not work.
Upon troubleshooting, the "Windows Network Diagnostic" said the problems was that the Wireless adapter was not turned on. Using the switch on the front of the laptop as well as the function keys does nothing. Usually a graphic pops up showing if the WiFi is on or off, changinging transparent to show the WiFi is disabled. Now when I turn the switch on it always appears transparent, effectively going from off to off
So I know the computer reads both the function keys and the switch on the front but both methods never actually turns the adapter on. I just finished a system restore and nothing has changed
i use an asus k50c laptop which i connect to internet through a lan cable.i used to send ad-hoc connection to my other laptop for internet connection which was running fine until i upgraded my sys to the win7.the connection is no longer through and whenever it is the web browsers cant open any page.i ve tried everything i can.it shows that the there is connection but its not working.

A couple of weeks ago, my wireless connection was getting slower and slower. As one day it decided to get extremely slow, I decided to uninstall the wireless card via device manager and reinstall it. Once this had been completed, the wireless just stopped working. The signal bar came up with zero and had a big red X in it. It works fine with ethernet cable but just won't seem to work as a wifi connector.
I have reinstalled all drivers and everything is enabled. When troubleshooting, it comes up with a possible problem with driver. Once this has been resolved it is then a problem with the network. The router is fine as I am able to connect on every other device in the house. I even purchased a USB wifi adaptor in the event of the Wireless card packing in but this is still creating the same problem. I used system restore to roll back the laptop to a time when the wireless worked and it didn't seem to work at all.
Where I can find an "ASUS Wireless PCI Driver" for WinXP?I've found many but ONLY for Vista, 7 or 8. The ones that I've found say that their for XP, but when I download them and try to install them on my XP system,it says that the OS (XP) is NOT supported! They all happen to be for Vista.

View 3 Replies View RelatedMy laptop normally always works on the wireless network, but every now and then its randomly stopped working and said "identifying network" followed by "could not identify network, unidentified network." When i would troubleshoot it would say stuff about the default gateway and not a valid ip address. THis was fine because it would always just start working on its own in a day or so. However these arnt coming up when i do the troubleshoot this time, and its been over a week and no improvement.Im obviously writing this from the desktop. and the stats below are the desktop stats.

So I just got an Asus RT-N10+ trying to repeat my Buffalo Airstation wireless signal (WPA2/PSK). I choose the repeater step in the quick setup, and the signal has full bars, but when I try to connect, it gets stuck at:
"Please wait, RT-N10+ is connecting to buffaloairstation..." and it stays like that indefinitely and after a while, the ASUS wireless connection disappears as it continues "connecting".
having a problem with my Linksys wireless adapter: the light will flash a few times when I plug it in, then it will turn off. It won't let me connect to the internet or my printer.It's not the port: it is recognized when I put it in any other port, but it still won't connect. I think it's a virus, but my antivirus software isn't showing anything when I run a full scan (I use Malwarebytes Free). I'm gonna put AVG on a flash drive from another computer and try to use that later today, but right now I've been thinking that I might have to back everything up and reinstall windows.

I had an old linksys router running DDWRT. I bought a new Asus RT-N16 and finally set it up. I had to just duplicate the settings by hand as you cannot back them up across different hardware models even though both are running DDWRT.
I hooked up the new router and everything was working great, until I decided to check one of my port forwards. Turns out its not working, I can't connect through my DynDNS assigned dns name. Assuming I configured something wrong, I compared the settings of the two routers. Nothing interesting, it is set up right.
From there I decided to just hook the old router up, assuming I overlooked something. So I mess around with all the cables, and then, to my surprise, IT STILL DIDN'T WORK.
A few points of interest:My Static IPS are set up right. My server has the proper IP My home IP did not change. DynDns has the right IP. I rebooted all the network equipment and server... just for the hell of it. I tried changing a port forward to point to my main PC and that failed too.
I just bought a wireless adapter for my PC, linkseys ae1000. It's been approximately a week, and the computer has been on most of the time...roughly 8-12 hours of a day, not in use the whole time, however. Then today when I booted up my computer, the wireless adapter didn't turn on! It's like a little USB thingy...and when i took it out, it was extremely hot, even though it wasn't doing anything! I tried multiple USB slots as well, to no avail...What basically happens is I put in the CD-rom installation disk, then when it prompts me, I plug in the adapter...and then it takes me to the connect to network screen, at this point the adapter has it's little wireless light blinking, then I try to connect to network, the light stops blinking and turns off, and it just tries connecting to the network for an eternity.

I have never had wireless on this computer and I have always been hard lined directly to the router without any problems of connecting to the net. I installed the software, am able to connect to my network with full bars, but have limited/no activity. After various uninstalls and reinstalls of the drivers and programs that come with it, I have found currently the best way to get it to work is leave the D-Link programs uninstalled and have Windows install the driver itself.The problem is, it doesn't seem to keep the drivers on restarting, so every time the computer is restarted, it must be installed again. This is not ideal.It occasionally worked when I installed from the CD, but the D-Link programs that would install with the drivers created problems of their own.

Now I can't get internet at all even if I move it back to the front! My network doesn't show up under connections. Both the playstation 3 and the netbook are picking up the wireless signal from the router.
