ASUS PCE-N13 Wireless Adapter Not Reading?
Aug 4, 2012
I have recently purchased an ASUS PCE-N13 wireless adapter, and I cannot get it to work for the life of me! I have tried installing the driver from the disk, however, when I try and look it up under device manager, I go to the "Other Devices" section as instructed and it just says "Unknown Device" instead of what it is supposed to say according to the manual. I have tried installing the Ralink driver, however I don't know if that was done correctly or not. I have gone through my BIOS and enabled the PCI slots power, so it isn't that.

I am using Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5895, with Windows 7 Home Premium. My laptop has been running beautifully since I updated from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Home Premium in Fall 2009. However, today the laptop has not been connecting to the wi-fi. It could not read the Atheros wireless card built into the laptop, and the all the network settings showed was the Ethernet adapter (realtek). I tried restarting and shutting down the laptop but it still did not read the wireless card (though the wireless light on the laptop was on, indicating that the wireless is on).
Then, after 4 hours of leaving the laptop shut down, the wireless started again. However, a half hour later it was down again, with the same problems already stated. The light was on and the card was not read. During my time online, I did manage to download the driver update from Toshiba website (Atheros Wireless LAN Driver for Windows 7 (32/64). I tried to install it but I received error messages, including: I tried again but I still received this message, but with a different file: I have no Ethernet connectivity and I need to use the wi-fi.

The wireless adapter keeps saying unidentified network, I can connect from other computers and they are all working fine.
Edit: Forgot to mention its a ASUS wireless n-15 adapter, also the system is a Windows 7 64 bit. Also, has a ip address 169.x.x.x which i know means no internet connection.

I have an Asus Model U56E. Recently the wireless has been disappearing whenever I turn off my laptop. What I mean is that when I turn on my laptop, the wireless doesnt seem to exist. I go under device manager and all I have is the eternet and my bluetooth device. About 85% of the time, when I go under "action" and click on "scan for hardware changes" the my Intel(R) Centrino(R) Wireless-N1030 will show up along with the Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adaptor and I'll get my wireless back. However, when my laptop turns off, the same thing happens.
In addition, my fn F2 button no longer seems to work. I'll press on it and majority of the time my light that signals that the wireless is working does not turn on. Most of the time it stays off whether or not I am connected to the wireless
This is what I already attempted to fix it, based on googling for answers:
1. Under the properties of my wireless and miniport adapter, I went under power management and unchecked the box that says "allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
2. I went to my laptop's power plan and changed all my wireless adapter settings "power saving mode" to maximum performance for both battery and cord
3. I went to the intel website, had it look at my laptop wireless system and followed their recommendation of installing an updated wireless software thing. All that happened was that it told me to disable my old wireless and then install it. However, even though I followed their instructions, it continued to repeat the same message. I had to perform a system restore to get my old wireless back
4. I disabled wireless console 3 (by Asus) under programs and it seemed to work. My laptop was getting connected whenever I turned it on. However, the next day my laptop updated itself (b/c of my system restore) and I am back to the same situation except my wireless console is still disabled.

I have been hacking at this problem for two days and can not figure it out.I built a new computer ASUS M3A78-T and installed windows 7 64bit everything was working fine. I did not validate the version of windows because I was waiting to replace the 500g hard drive with a 120 ssd. By the time I recieved the ssd windows validation time had expired, I tried to validate the version of windows and I could not because the network adapter was now gone! This is strange because when I first built it it as fine and I was all over the internet via broadband ethernet cable. Now the internet box has a red x and will not recognize the cable and no lights are flashing on the back as well. It seems I ned to reinstall the driver so I used another computer and downloaded the only LAN file from ASUS website and nothing.

I just purchased the E4200 (hardware version 1).Great router with amazing features.I plugged my WD Elements 2TB, setup my media and FTP server and everything is working fine.
My only concern is about the HD light that is always on, even when nobody is accessing it. I turned off the Auto-scan option but the HD seems to be always reading something...
When this HD was plugged on my computer the light was on during access only.Is it OK? I mean, isn't something that will decrease the HD lifespam? Is there a way to tell the E4200 to not access the HD when nobody is using it?

Model : TD-W8968
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version :
ISP :
I've connected a usb hard drive to my TD-W8968 and shared the root folder via storage sharing. When I try to copy files to the hard drive from my computer the transfer speed it about 700 Kbytes/s. When reading from the drive to the computer I get 2000 Kbytes/s.This is way below the 30000Kbytes/s that can be delivered to/from the drive when it's connected to the computer's usb. I've tried several usb drives and for all I get the same results. Is there a way to increase the read/write speeds for the usb connected devices?

I have an ASUS Z77 Motherboard and when I install the AI Suite II which comes on the installation disc it blocks my internet connection. When I uninstall the software my connection is fine. I am using an Ethernet connection by the way. I think it is being blocked by the component called Network iControl. As soon as that component is uninstalled my Internet connection comes back. I want to have the software, but I also want to have my connection.

I recently moved into a larger 2 story house, and for the first few months I was using a Linksys E1000 I've had for about 2 years now. It's a fine single band router, but the people upstairs and the xbox/PS3 in the living room didnt have the strongest connection.
I shopped around and finally got a ASUS RT-N66U for a really good, strong dual band router that would supposedly give better range and performance than my old E1000.
Unfortunately, since I got it everyone is having issues they never had before, namely:Signal dropping all around the house and having to search for the network much slower performance than before the xbox/PS3 cant hold a stable connection even for a few minutes now, when before you could watch Netflix HD programs easily
I've upgraded the Firmware to 3.0.0.3.178 since I heard earlier firmwares had issues, but other than that and opening my ports for qTorrent it is relatively stock settings.

I'm trying to use my installed (working, clean) SD card, but on the SD management screen doesn't list it. Instead, where the SD status is it says "SD Status : Reinitialization". I'm a techie guy so I've done all the standard things you'd try: I've made sure it's pushed in all the way, that it's in the right way (it really only goes in one way), and that's it's a writable (tried it on another device). I've also upgraded the firmware (it was almost current already), reformatted the card, reset and restarted the device, etc.

I'm having some problems when upgrading the IOS of my Catalyst 3750 switch through a tftp server. I've been surfing the net and found that there seems to be a problem when the image file is larger than 16M but this is not my case.I erased the flash to be sure that there was enough memory space to upload the image but didnt work.I also tried with archive download-sw /overwrite command and using a ftp server but the problem is the always the same: [code]To make sure it was not a problem of my computer or tftp server, I tried with a different computer and with a different tftp server but the same happen. I also tried with a 3750V2 and still the same. Even when trying to backup the current IOS to my computer, I got "error writing".
Then, I have tried to do the same with a different model of switch, a WS-C3560-48PS and it works perfect.I still need to try using Xmodem but Xmodem takes ages to finalize the process.

I am trying to get the temperature reading from one of our 3560G Switches using SNMP. When I run an snmpget on the Switch it returns back to me a "1".
So when I run the following I get:
> snmpget -v1 -c public 192.168.x.xxx 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1.3.1.3.1005
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.13.1.3.1.3.1005 = Gauge32: 1
But when I telnet to the device and run a "show env temperature status" I get:
# show env temp status
Temperature Value: 32 Degree Celsius
Temperature State: GREEN
Yellow Threshold : 51 Degree Celsius
Red Threshold : 61 Degree Celsius
So I'm not sure why I am getting a "1" when using snmpget on the OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1.3.1.3.1005 which is (ciscoEnvMonTemperatureStatusValue)??
If I run the same OID on another 3560G Router I get the correct output from snmp....

My Asus eee pc netbook won't load webpages. It is connected to the internet, but won't load pages. I know it isn't the internet connection because others are able to access it on their computers on the same network.I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling my network adapter. I've put the power save mode on my adapter to off. I uninstalled Norton. I've turned my firewall off. It won't load in Firefox or IE.If I repair my connection, it works for about 30 seconds, and then will stop loading.

I've been using the ASUS 802.11 n13 wireless key for approximately 2 years with no problems. However ever since about two days ago it decided to quit on me. [code] This web page is not available. The server at Google can't be found because of DNS look-up failed..When right click to repair network connection.Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the following action cannot be completed:Connecting to the wireless network. So far I've uninstalled the driver and reinstalled (heard that could be the issue on several other threads I've read) and tried rebooting the modem. All other devices in my house can still access wireless (smart phone, laptop)

one of my wireless computers (windows 7 pro) won't connect. I am baffled to the problem.
Router: Asus RT-N12 with latest stable firmware version
2 other laptops will connect with no problem. My phone will connect to it no problem. My 3 other laptops also connect to it with no issues as well. A wired computer will get Internet access to it no problem. This computer (a desktop with a pci wireless card) won't connect to it. The SSID will not show up on the computer unless I manually put in the SSID. Then, it tries to connect, fails, and the SSID goes away. It will connect to the wifi tether on my phone with no issues. My phone has the same security settings, encryption protocols, etc. as my router. It will connect to a neighbor's unprotected wifi without issue as well.

I'm installing all the drivers and such, and the wireless network card will not seem to work. I tried installing the packaged driver and it seemed to work, but it won't find my wireless network. So I went to the manufacturer's site and downloaded the latest, dated April this year, still nothing. The card shows up in Device Manager with no red X or question mark, and says is 'working properly' but in network connections I can't get it to recognize a network. It's inconvenient to get a ethernet cable run to my room, so I'm not sure what to do now. I tried manually entering the SSID and WEP to no avail?
