View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having a problem with my Realtek RTL8168D/8111D PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC. It is not detecting my ethernet cable, and thus leaving me without internet on my desktop, after i updated its driver. The cable is not the problem as I have tested the cable with my laptop. I tried rolling back drivers, doing system restore and removing drivers with driversweeper and letting windows install the drivers again. However, none of these worked for me. I doubt the NIC is faulty as it was working before i updated the drivers. I am using windows 7 home premium 64-bit.

Yesterday when i tried to power it on after a couple of seconds the power led was solid green and the Ethernet leds were blinking with no Ethernet cable attached to the router . The ethernet leds would keep blinking for minutes . I tried to use a screwdriver to do a hardware reset ( with power on ) and i noticed that the power led would start blinking green/red for minutes . I tried to use another wired router which i have for backup and it could connect to the internet normally without a problem.
What the green / red blinking power led means ( power led is green and then changes to red and then it starts over ) ?
I have a Dell XPS M1530 with Vista 32 bit. When i plug in a cable i get nothing, no error, and the comp does not recognize that a cable has been plugged in. I think that this started after my Hard drive failed and Dell replaced it but i'm not positive. No errors (? or !) in Device Manager and I can't find the Marvell 88E80XX 10/100 Ethernet Controller in device manager. I have attempted to Reinstall the drivers. The wireless is still working. I have one Light to the right of the port that is on all the time solid but no flashing with the cable in or out.

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen I login to Facebook on my home computer it opens and trys to read something additional (the little activity circle continues to roatate) but it never completes, it is like it is in an endless loop so my browser (IE 9) locks up and I have to use task manager to terminate. I can get into facebook on my office computer with no problem. Also my wife has the same problem on her facebook account.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have recently purchased an ASUS PCE-N13 wireless adapter, and I cannot get it to work for the life of me! I have tried installing the driver from the disk, however, when I try and look it up under device manager, I go to the "Other Devices" section as instructed and it just says "Unknown Device" instead of what it is supposed to say according to the manual. I have tried installing the Ralink driver, however I don't know if that was done correctly or not. I have gone through my BIOS and enabled the PCI slots power, so it isn't that.

Yesterday I was on my computer when all of the sudden my internet stopped working. I am using windows 7 and at the bottom right I see a big "X" over the small computer icon. I already tried a computer reboot, a router+modem reboot, system restore, and I even reset the power to the room of the modem+router from the fuse box in my house. I tried everything.
I'm sure the problem must be from the actual cable or mother board itself. ( I hope it isn't ) I tried blowing out any dust from the ports and making sure that nothing was blocking the connection. I fell asleep last night with the internet not working, and woke up to it working. Every other computer in my house works except for mine. I tried all of the router ports as well. I did not attempt another ethernet cable though because my room is far and I would need to make a very long one.
I just reinstalled Windows 7 on my computer again and appear to be having trouble connecting to the internet with my ethernet cable. I've only ever used a wired connection on this computer, but am completely unable to do so at the moment.

I did this, and it tried to install the software on startup but it keeps failing when installing. Forcing it to look for new driver software resulted in it saying the best software is already installed.

I'm able to see other computers connected to the network, share printers and have access to shared files but have no internet access. I know that the problem is not the cable or socket because my old XP computer connects to the internet just fine.

I have a Asus g73jh computer running 64-bit windows 7 and i have an atheros ar8131 pci-e gigabit ethernet controller NDIS 6.20 for my network adaptor, that is fully updated and says is working properly but doesn't recognize when an ethernet cable is plugged in. The cable works on my xbox fine so I know that the cable works fine. I'm pretty sure that there might be something physically wrong with it or I just don't know.

At the moment I cant run an ethernet cable through my house from my router to my desktop PC (Which is where I use the internet/play games etc) and connect directly that way because my parents dont want cables going through the house etc etc.For the past 2 months or more I used my old laptop to pick up the wireless connection downstairs then I bridged the connection and used my ethernet cable from the laptop into my PC/Xbox or whatever, no problems until today, I wouldnt even have to log into the laptop, i would just turn it on and leave it at the login screen and I would have internet on my desktop/Xbox.Tried to do that today and was getting unidentified network on my desktop, i dont know what the problem is, I can connect directly to my router with the ethernet (I tried it) but not the old way anymore, i'm on the laptop now on the wireless internet.In network connections there LAN network isnt there anymore, its just the 'Unidentified Network' which is the bridged connection.

Instead, where the SD status is it says "SD Status : Reinitialization". I'm a techie guy so I've done all the standard things you'd try: I've made sure it's pushed in all the way, that it's in the right way (it really only goes in one way), and that's it's a writable (tried it on another device). I've also upgraded the firmware (it was almost current already), reformatted the card, reset and restarted the device, etc.

My only concern is about the HD light that is always on, even when nobody is accessing it. I turned off the Auto-scan option but the HD seems to be always reading something...
When this HD was plugged on my computer the light was on during access only.Is it OK? I mean, isn't something that will decrease the HD lifespam? Is there a way to tell the E4200 to not access the HD when nobody is using it?
