My onboard adapter wasn't working so I bought a new dlink adapter. Adapter installed and is registering in device manager.. but it says that there is no ethernet cable connected. I have a laptop connected to the same router that is connecting to the internet. I switched out cables with ones that worked with the laptop and on the desktop before. I have cycled the router

I have a Asus g73jh computer running 64-bit windows 7 and i have an atheros ar8131 pci-e gigabit ethernet controller NDIS 6.20 for my network adaptor, that is fully updated and says is working properly but doesn't recognize when an ethernet cable is plugged in. The cable works on my xbox fine so I know that the cable works fine. I'm pretty sure that there might be something physically wrong with it or I just don't know.

I got myself a weird problem. A few hours ago I installed Blueline's Driverscanner, but after the installation I lost my internet connection. I've checked the networkconnections and it's not in the list anymore.The really weird part is that there is a LED light coming from the cable, indicating it has a connection, but it is not making any.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSo i just moved my desktop into my dorm room and am using an ethernet cable supplied by the school for my desktop. Every 10 or 15 seconds i will lose internet connection because according to the troubleshooting on the computer there is apparently no cable hooked up (there is obviously). I've tried using both ports in the router and both yield same results and 2 different ethernet cables which both had the same problem. Others in the building have internet connection w/o problems which leads me to believe that there is something up with my computer. I run windows 7.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI switched from DSL to cable about a week ago, I have two desktops connected via ethernet cable to the modem. One works fine, the second stays connected for 5 seconds, disconnected for 5 seconds, connected, again, etc until the system is on for 45 minutes or so and then it stays connected. I feel like it is probably a setting and that the system is trying to detect something during that time. Problem is I have no idea where to start and Comcast is totally useless. I have already replaced the cable because that's what they said the issue was, it wasn't.

View 1 Replies View RelatedFor starters I have a qwest m1000 modem and a netgear router.this morning there was a rather large thundestorm that caused my power to cut out while I was usin my computer.. once I got it back up and running the ethernet light on my modem wasn't liighting up.I reallly have no idea what to do. Everything but the ethernet is working. I can still get to my routers website but that's it, and I don't what to do there once I'm on it.Is it possible the storm messed up the settings? Or killed part of my pc/modem? On my computer the ethernet light next to the jack on the back is yelllow when its threw my rouuter, but when I plug my modem into it directly it doesn't light up at all.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI could not boot the other day so I spent a few hour pulling everything out and checking memory components,etc.m taking the battery out finally fixed the boot issue but now there is no Internet or network detected or network adapter. It is not the router because pc in the other room is working fine on same connection. Mseems like a CMOS or bios issue. There was a message before boot about reverting to default bios settings. I can't update or remove driver because it is not detected and no Internet.
View 10 Replies View Relatedi have an issue with a belkin ethernet expresscard used on a laptop where the onboard network is a static ip address hooked up to an insurment and the express card is dhcp .i can connect to the network in one location with out issue and on the other location the express card will not connect but the on board card will connect fine when set to dhcp and i dont want to set the express card to a static ip address.i do's not see a lan cable connect but it is.all the simple issue have been ruled tryed differnt lan cable used same lan point on diffrent laptop and connected with out issue .ip relased renew dns flushed winsock reset etc..dhcp servers are the same (both locations)default gate way the same (both locations)this is class A ip address range?
View 1 Replies View RelatedThe issue that I am having is that the network cable I have that going from my router to my desktop computer, seems to be flaky, at least it seems that way...When I try to use the network cable that goes into this desktop, into another computer(one that I know works), the connection status alternates between connecting, and no network cable detected, connecting...and no network cable connected, and so forth.it NEVER connects. When I plug the cable back into the desktop, it does the same thing for maybe a minute, but then eventually connects. However, every other computer, laptop, macbook, another desktop PC, that I have tried connecting using this same cable never connects.

It is not detecting my ethernet cable, and thus leaving me without internet on my desktop, after i updated its driver. The cable is not the problem as I have tested the cable with my laptop. I tried rolling back drivers, doing system restore and removing drivers with driversweeper and letting windows install the drivers again. However, none of these worked for me. I doubt the NIC is faulty as it was working before i updated the drivers. I am using windows 7 home premium 64-bit.

Yesterday when i tried to power it on after a couple of seconds the power led was solid green and the Ethernet leds were blinking with no Ethernet cable attached to the router . The ethernet leds would keep blinking for minutes . I tried to use a screwdriver to do a hardware reset ( with power on ) and i noticed that the power led would start blinking green/red for minutes . I tried to use another wired router which i have for backup and it could connect to the internet normally without a problem.
What the green / red blinking power led means ( power led is green and then changes to red and then it starts over ) ?
I have a Dell XPS M1530 with Vista 32 bit. When i plug in a cable i get nothing, no error, and the comp does not recognize that a cable has been plugged in. I think that this started after my Hard drive failed and Dell replaced it but i'm not positive. No errors (? or !) in Device Manager and I can't find the Marvell 88E80XX 10/100 Ethernet Controller in device manager. I have attempted to Reinstall the drivers. The wireless is still working. I have one Light to the right of the port that is on all the time solid but no flashing with the cable in or out.

Yesterday I was on my computer when all of the sudden my internet stopped working. I am using windows 7 and at the bottom right I see a big "X" over the small computer icon. I already tried a computer reboot, a router+modem reboot, system restore, and I even reset the power to the room of the modem+router from the fuse box in my house. I tried everything.
I'm sure the problem must be from the actual cable or mother board itself. ( I hope it isn't ) I tried blowing out any dust from the ports and making sure that nothing was blocking the connection. I fell asleep last night with the internet not working, and woke up to it working. Every other computer in my house works except for mine. I tried all of the router ports as well. I did not attempt another ethernet cable though because my room is far and I would need to make a very long one.
I just reinstalled Windows 7 on my computer again and appear to be having trouble connecting to the internet with my ethernet cable. I've only ever used a wired connection on this computer, but am completely unable to do so at the moment.

I did this, and it tried to install the software on startup but it keeps failing when installing. View 2 Replies View RelatedAt the moment I cant run an ethernet cable through my house from my router to my desktop PC (Which is where I use the internet/play games etc) and connect directly that way because my parents dont want cables going through the house etc etc.For the past 2 months or more I used my old laptop to pick up the wireless connection downstairs then I bridged the connection and used my ethernet cable from the laptop into my PC/Xbox or whatever, no problems until today, I wouldnt even have to log into the laptop, i would just turn it on and leave it at the login screen and I would have internet on my desktop/Xbox.Tried to do that today and was getting unidentified network on my desktop, i dont know what the problem is, I can connect directly to my router with the ethernet (I tried it) but not the old way anymore, i'm on the laptop now on the wireless internet.In network connections there LAN network isnt there anymore, its just the 'Unidentified Network' which is the bridged connection.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a computer that runs windows 7, and I run an ethernet cable from netgear router into my computer. It used to run fine, but all of a sudden it stopped recognizing the ethernet cable, and I can not access internet.
I know it is not the cable because I can plug in the same ethernet cable to my laptop (runs XP) and it recognizes and I can access internet.
Also, I know it's not the slot on the router because because I switched places with my other ethernet cable that plugs into Netgear Powerline Ethernet Adapter for my Xbox, and the slot recognizes the adapter just fine.
So I am thinking it has to do something with Win 7 or the computer. My computer does have the wireless capability, and I am running it on wireless right now.
