Dec 5, 2011I just purchased the E4200 (hardware version 1).Great router with amazing features.I plugged my WD Elements 2TB, setup my media and FTP server and everything is working fine.
My only concern is about the HD light that is always on, even when nobody is accessing it. I turned off the Auto-scan option but the HD seems to be always reading something...
When this HD was plugged on my computer the light was on during access only.Is it OK? I mean, isn't something that will decrease the HD lifespam? Is there a way to tell the E4200 to not access the HD when nobody is using it?

Aug 4, 2012I have recently purchased an ASUS PCE-N13 wireless adapter, and I cannot get it to work for the life of me! I have tried installing the driver from the disk, however, when I try and look it up under device manager, I go to the "Other Devices" section as instructed and it just says "Unknown Device" instead of what it is supposed to say according to the manual. I have tried installing the Ralink driver, however I don't know if that was done correctly or not. I have gone through my BIOS and enabled the PCI slots power, so it isn't that.

Jan 28, 2011I am using Toshiba Satellite L305D-S5895, with Windows 7 Home Premium.My laptop has been running beautifully since I updated from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Home Premium in Fall 2009. However, today the laptop has not been connecting to the wi-fi. It could not read the Atheros wireless card built into the laptop, and the all the network settings showed was the Ethernet adapter (realtek). I tried restarting and shutting down the laptop but it still did not read the wireless card (though the wireless light on the laptop was on, indicating that the wireless is on).
Then, after 4 hours of leaving the laptop shut down, the wireless started again. However, a half hour later it was down again, with the same problems already stated. The light was on and the card was not read. During my time online, I did manage to download the driver update from Toshiba website (Atheros Wireless LAN Driver for Windows 7 (32/64). I tried to install it but I received error messages, including: I tried again but I still received this message, but with a different file: I have no Ethernet connectivity and I need to use the wi-fi.

I've connected a usb hard drive to my TD-W8968 and shared the root folder via storage sharing.When I try to copy files to the hard drive from my computer the transfer speed it about 700 Kbytes/s. When reading from the drive to the computer I get 2000 Kbytes/s.This is way below the 30000Kbytes/s that can be delivered to/from the drive when it's connected to the computer's usb. I've tried several usb drives and for all I get the same results.Is there a way to increase the read/write speeds for the usb connected devices?

Nov 9, 2011I'm having some problems when upgrading the IOS of my Catalyst 3750 switch through a tftp server. I've been surfing the net and found that there seems to be a problem when the image file is larger than 16M but this is not my case.I erased the flash to be sure that there was enough memory space to upload the image but didnt work.I also tried with archive download-sw /overwrite command and using a ftp server but the problem is the always the same: [code]To make sure it was not a problem of my computer or tftp server, I tried with a different computer and with a different tftp server but the same happen. I also tried with a 3750V2 and still the same. Even when trying to backup the current IOS to my computer, I got "error writing".
Then, I have tried to do the same with a different model of switch, a WS-C3560-48PS and it works perfect.I still need to try using Xmodem but Xmodem takes ages to finalize the process.

Feb 26, 2012I am trying to get the temperature reading from one of our 3560G Switches using SNMP. When I run an snmpget on the Switch it returns back to me a "1".
So when I run the following I get:
> snmpget -v1 -c public 192.168.x.xxx 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1.3.1.3.1005
SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.9.9.13.1.3.1.3.1005 = Gauge32: 1
But when I telnet to the device and run a "show env temperature status" I get:

Temperature Value: 32 Degree Celsius
Temperature State: GREEN
Yellow Threshold : 51 Degree Celsius
Red Threshold : 61 Degree Celsius
So I'm not sure why I am getting a "1" when using snmpget on the OID 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.13.1.3.1.3.1005 which is (ciscoEnvMonTemperatureStatusValue)??
If I run the same OID on another 3560G Router I get the correct output from snmp....

Jan 17, 2012I have a WRT54GS which works fine with Linux both from both wired and wireless computers using Linux. But I reinstalled Win XP and now I can't reestablish a connection following the EasyLink advisor. I did have a connection under Win XP before.
The last instruction on the Easylink advisor tells me to look for something marked "local" I don't find that word on the screen.

The router home page indicates the printer status is "ready". Install New D-Link N750 Dual Band Router?
Jul 6, 2012I just bought a new D-Link N750 DIR-835 Dual Band Router, and I tried installing it to apparently no avail. I used the installation CD and followed all the instructions carefully throughout, but once it was "working," I did a speed test and saw that there was absolutely no difference in speed.
I refuse to believe that this new router, which cost me over $100, would provide no noticeable difference over my old router. Speaking of my old router, I have the original router that Telus sent me for free. It's a Siemens Gigaset SE567, and I've dealt with it a few times when I had internet problems,fiddling with the 192.168.0.1 web address site, configuring the passwords and SSID, and the like. I'm not super-educated on the matter,but I know enough about it that with a thorough explanation, I could probably perform whatever is necessary.
Anyways, like I said, I followed all the instructions and after testing out some simple Youtube videos on both my tablet and laptop, through the wireless network that resulted, it couldn't even load a 480p video without lagging. I know that the router isn't the only thing that ensures speed, but even with my (probably barebottom) internet plan (which my father set up, not me, and knowing my father, it's probably the slowest connection available), I just cannot believe that the resulting network was the best speed available to me. So did I do something wrong? Are the routers interfering with each other? Is that actually the best speed I can achieve? Is that Gigaset even a router? Or is it a modem? Or both?
