View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been trying all day long to install my new wireless router Linksys Cisco WRT120N, and I've exactly followed the steps which were shown on the CD provided upon purchase, but I can't do anything.
I am quite new to wireless routers and this task has overwhelmed me! When I insert the CD on the drive and start the setup, there are a few steps shown which tell me how to connect my existing modem to the router. At last, it keeps telling me I haven't installed the router correctly.
I have a Scientific Atlanta Webstar modem, which is connected to the laptop with an Ethernet wire. On the steps provided, it tells me that the Ethernet wire should be taken off the modem and inserted on one of the 4 Ethernet ports on the new router, while the other Ethernet cable should be inserted into the modem and the Internet port on the new router. Then, I have to plug the router in.
I have a WRT54GS which works fine with Linux both from both wired and wireless computers using Linux. But I reinstalled Win XP and now I can't reestablish a connection following the EasyLink advisor. I did have a connection under Win XP before.
The last instruction on the Easylink advisor tells me to look for something marked "local" I don't find that word on the screen.
My son gave me an E3000wireless router but the first instruction is to insert the CD and follow instructions. I don't have the CD. How do I install it? Also, this is replacing an older router that is installed and working. Can I install the E3000 without removing the older router first?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a Linksys WRT54G to which 2 computers are connected of which one has no problems at all.The other computer just had its hard drive replaced and Windows XP Pro SP1 installed on the new hard drive. With the new operating system, I cannot get the computer to access the router. The connection status reports that the network device is working but IPCONFIG /ALL reports nothing (blank). The NIC is onboard the motherboard (ASUS P5LP-LE). I have swapped out cable ports at the router and tried a different cable to the faulty computer to no avail. If I had a spare NIC I would already have tried that too. FYI, it was working without problems prior to the hard drive crash that prompted the new drive and OS install.I tried a wireless USB network interface (Zonet ZEW2508) and the computer also reports it working. However, the network icon continually cycles between connected and unavailable, about 6 seconds connected and 1 second unavailable. IPCONFIG also reports blank on this.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI currently have Comcast as my ISP.However there are only 4 wired ports on the router and I need an additional 2 ports for my needs. I have a 2wire 38000HGV-B Uverse Wireless gateway. I wanted to know if I could use one of the output ports from the Comcast wireless gateway and feed the 2wire Gateway to achieve the additional ports that I need. Also the wireless router from comcast is so difficult to setup that I don't even use the wireless. The 2wire gateway is much easier to setup and use and I could have wireless available where I don't have it right now.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI first bought the e1200 version and when I tried to download it on my computer, it worked at first and installed correctly, but the cisco connect didn't properly install. I was able to log into the router online setup page ONE time. I tried to reset it and reinstall but it will not work.So I thought ok let me go and purchase a better one (thinking it was the router version having issues). So I brought it back and purchased the E2500 and I am having the same trouble.
I have tried to reset it about 20 times and reinstall and it will not install at all. It still gives me internet, but I cannot log into the http://192.168.1.1/ page at all, it tells me internet cannot display.
We currently get our internet through a small company that only uses a static IP and I cannot get our WRT160N router installed so I can manually set up our internet connection. Is there any way to install the router without using the CD provided. I keep getting the error code 322 during installation.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought the EA6500 yesterday and tried setting it up with the CD that came with it and it tells me ( YOUR COMPUTER DOES NOT HAVE NETWORKING CAPABILITY ) and will not install. I have the capability for networking because I have a network. I was able to set the router up but not with the software on the CD. I have tried a number of times and still get the same message and when I click on view details this is what I get .I have a network adapter and it works just fine.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI came into an old Win 7 computer (64-bit) with a WMP54G v4.0 wireless card in it. Apparently the driver had already been installed previously but when I booted the computer it didn't acknowledge the existence of the card or drivers. I installed the driver from here[url]... and restarted the computer when prompted (the card was already in the computer). Upon restart the setup was supposed to complete, but it never came up. When I re-ran the setup it just said the driver is already installed. The card still isn't being recognized, scanning for new hardware in the device manager doesn't bring it up. There is an entry for a "Network Controller" with no driver installed, it may be the WMP54G but trying to manually install the driver doesn't work. Windows just says it can't find the driver even when I point the install wizard right to its location.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have an Acer Aspire 5517 with Windows 7 Home Premium connected wirelessly to a Linksys E1000 which is connected to a surfboard modem connected to Comcast cable internet. I just picked up an HP Proliant DL360 server with no OS and no optical drive. It tries to PXE network boot when I turn it on. How do I use my Laptop to install a linux image via the network?I have read extensively about this subject for a couple of days now and jacked up my IP settings in my router as well as my network adapter a couple of times now. Everything is backed up and my original settings are written down. I have asked for advice from Microsoft and HP as well.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am trying to install a wireless bridge on my network. It is a Linksys WET54G v3 wireless bridge. I follow the instructions to configure the bridge: attach the antenna, plug the Ethernet cable into the bridge, plug the other end of the cable into the RJ-45 port of the hub (a Linksys WRT300N router), plug the power supply, insert the setup disk, and run the setup program. After following the steps, it came back and said it could not find a wireless bridge on my network. I tried just plugging the wireless bridge directly into the PC (as it was one of the alternatives in the instruction) Ethernet port. I got the same message. The set up on my wireless router is as follows, DSL modem connects into wireless router, and wireless router connects to PC Ethernet port. I am thinking, connecting the wireless bridge to one of the ports on the wireless router wouldn’t necessary allow the PC to know it is there, would it? Could it be that I don’t have a network? Does a wireless router form a hub?

Alright, the computer I had cisco connect on crashed. I got a new computer and I'm trying to install Cisco connect using the downloaded version and I can't install it because it requests the password of the router, which i do not know. This is because I've lost the CD copy of Cisco connect. I've tried resetting the router itself by pressing the red reset button
View 5 Replies View RelatedI simply, can't install Cisco Connect. I want to because it has the parental controls and guest SSID controls. When I try to install, the progress bar get's to 25% and then stops - the next screen says "Our Customer Support team can help. Your router was not successfully setup." I reset the modem and have my computer plugged in to port 1 while I try to install the software. I have been able to setup the router manually. It works great. My issue is that I can't install Cisco Connect desktop software for Mac.
