I am moving house and the my main computer is going to be in a different room to my wireless router. I had presumed that I could just get a usb dongle from the manufacturer of the router and take it from there.Only problem is that the dongle won't fit into the front port of my inpiron 588. It will fit in halfway but then the casing of the dongle hits the bottom of the CD drive.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an Dell inspiron 1564 with dell webcam central I been useing it a while now and had no problems with it untill one day I logged on and I go on webcam chat sites and as you know theres a button you click for your cam to turn on and useally a warning sign would appear saying would you like to allow this site to acces your webcam and I would click allow but now nothing appears and i click the cam sign and nothing happens just black I set the settings to Allow and always remember but nothing will work I was told to get rid of all my toolbars as they might of caughts the problem so I did and now i don't have any toolbars but it's still in not working I think its the McAfee secuirty I have a on my computer that is not allowing it but then i think why would it one day just stop it from allowing.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI got a (one year old) Dell Inspiron 1545 and I'm using it always with wifi on to get connected to the net.Since a couple of days this Wifi connection often goes off and on (by itself) and I got no clue what it source of this problem is.My Eventlog says that it switches off very irregulary (between 3 and 10 minutes). I've installed the newest drivers and got the latest updates for the Wifi card and on my Windows Vista.

I have a Netgear router and all my laptop, NOOK and cell phone have no problem connecting to this router. When I search in connections the only thing I see is a broadband connector, no "wired" showing in network.How do I fix this so I can use my desktop as wireless?

I connect to the wifi using a Belkin wireless usb adaptor. The only way to reconnect is to reboot. I have tried everything I can find from updating drivers and moving the adpator to different ports.

It then tries to load a webpage and either freezes completely and the whole screen goes black or times out after about 10 minutes and says:

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a new Dell Inspiron 17R 5720. When I plug an Ethernet from my router to the laptop absolutely nothing happens. It seems as if the Ethernet adapter on the laptop is not connected. I've tried troubleshooting by going into "Control Panel, Network Connections". The Ethernet icon says "Network Cable Unplugged, Realtex PCIe FE Family Controller".
I've tried the same Ethernet connection with another Dell laptop and it works just fine.
As I said, it seems as if the Ethernet adapter on my laptop is not hooked up at all.
I have a Dell Inspiron One 2320 with a WiFi problem.
I say this because my old Toshiba laptop, using my house wireless router, achieves 20MB/s on a download speedtest and the Inspiron happily does this when directly connected to the router.
I have downloaded the latest WiFi driver etc.
I have a Dell for a year(INSPIRON N17110) with adapter:Dell Wireless 1702 802.11b/g/n. All time it has a low signal via WI-FI. Signal 5-10 times less than in other notebook (for example Lenovo). Even next to the Router signal is 3-4 times less.

He has wireless internet thru Comcast and there was never a problem.He downloaded some scam program, and I reformatted the hard drive. Used the recovery disk, windows installed and remained connected thru the whole reformat process.This recovery disk was the operating system only- no other recovery disk was included.After the reformat, the computer now has no wireless capability. After checking the forums I went to the service center, entered the service tag, and downloaded/installed every driver in the "chipset" and "network" categories. (Downloaded to a different computer and transferred with CD)Still no wireless. When I click on the "bars" in the lower right corner, it doesn't even give me an option for wireless networks (which it used to- now it only says "dial up and VPN")I went to the device manager, the "Wireless LAN mini card" is ok, but there are 4 things underneath showing the yellow exclamation point of death:

I just did a fresh install of Windows 7 (x64) on Dell laptop- Dell Inspiron N5110 . I did not rebuild it from the factory restore disc as that failed to work.The installation is complete. I am trying To get my Wi-Fi to work by pressing FN+F2 however it is not working, the Bluetooth icon appears instead which doesn’t work either.I have tried to look for the wifi adapter in the device manager, but it does not exist in the list.I understand that I have to install the drivers. Will that do the trick? I also don’t know what the name of the wifi adapter is, so don’t know which driver to install.

I have been experiencing quite a bit of wireless problems with my Inspiron 17R SE. Only about half the time can I connect to my router and even then it only stays connected for a couple hours. It seems intermittent and the problem will go away for a week or so, but right now it is back in full force. Typically it will either connect and say that there is limited connectivity or it won't connect at all. Resetting the adapter via the Windows 7 troubleshooter only fixes it about half the time.
The thing is that the wireless and everything else works just fine on my Ubuntu partition, which makes me think that my driver is a bit wonky. I have tried downloading the one directly from Dell, and that has come to no avail. I have even tried using the Dell software support suite, and that hasn't found anything wrong either.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having difficulty connecting my Inspiron N5110 to WiFi (I managed to when I first bought it last week through a different network but when I bought it home it didn't work).
When I try and connect, it asks for the key, which I enter. It then searches and says it can't connect to the Network. The WiFi Network then becomes unavailable and loses signal with all Internet connected devices then taken offline. The network then reconnects but the laptop still doesn't connect to the WiFi. Is there a setting I need to change in the laptop to get it to connect?
I was on the internet browsing as usual, then all of a sudden when I turned my laptop back on the internet was not working. There is a red cross over a dial-up symbol where the wireless symbol used to be. And when I go on "change adapter settings" nothing is there. On device manager, network adapters is missing unless I go on "show hidden devices".

I have spent countless hours searching online attempting to fix this problem. I read in numerous posts if I remove the RAM and place it back in after 10 minutes it should solve the issue, but others have said it did not work for them. I am inexperience and rather not open-up and remove anything in-case of further problems.
I bought my mother a new Inspiron 17R. She really mostly needs it for internet and email. I set it up at my house, and was able to access the internet via my wireless connection just fine. I brought it to her house, it connected fine there also. For a couple of weeks everything was fine. Then suddenly it lost ALL connectivity to the internet. When I troubleshoot the connection, the error message is "default gateway is not available". This occurs both on the wireless connection at my mother's house AND back at my own wireless connection at my house. At the same time, multiple other computers continue to connect without issue to both networks, so we can rule out a problem with the modem and/or the WAP. I went back to a Windows restore point when I know that the connection was working, but even after that I continue to have the same problem.
I've also tried connecting via an ethernet cable directly to the router. Same result. To add insult to injury, the DELL tech support web site pretty much times out when I try to log on there to find out any info. I can't even add the new service tag to my account. Right now the device is just an expensive doorstop for all the use it is to my mother.
I tried to do some research online (not on the uncooperative DELL site), as a result of that I tried a couple of things like checking the default gateway value under network connection details. It shows as 192.168.1.1 which should be correct. Also I unchecked the TCP/IPv6 option under Wirless network properties. Network Card is Broadcam DW1501 Wireless-N WLAN Half-Mini Card.
I am trying to active a wi-fi hotspot I recently upgraded to with Telstra. The instructions are very simple, handy for me as I am not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to computers.So I've never used my wi-fi before. I know there is a button on the right hand side I need to slide forward to turn the wi-fi on. When I do this the computer makes a 'ping' noise, I assume it is acknowleding the Wi-fi is on? However, the button doesn't stay forward it sits in the middle. The wi-fi light doesn't appear to change either.

Usually, if the wifi is turned on, there is a green light flashing in the back which tells me it is picking up or searching for a signal. And once I turned it on, it had started working again. So I played on it a bit and got off. But when I went to turn it on today, it wont pick up any signals. My router is working perfectly fine since I'm typing this on my iPad.

When I plug them in to an ethernet connection, they are able to pull an IP address from DHCP but they do not connect to the internet. The network icon in the taskbar has a yellow exclamation point and has the message "No Internet Access" when I mouse-over it. I am trying to connect the computer in an office with a DHCP server. I have not joined the computer to the domain yet. I can plug any of my other computers into the same ethernet port and they will connect to the internet including other computers with the same OS and computers with XP SP3 or Vista. I have also had another tech connect the computer to other ethernet ports that we know work with other computers and the computers still cannot access the internet.
I have already tried the solution here: [URL] which advises you to uninstall the free McAfee software (which was already done or the computer didn't come with it) and uninstall a windows update which we did. The computers still do not connect to the internet. Are there any other possible solutions? These computers are straight out of the box and unaltered other than removing the software and update in the above link.
Could this have anything to do within the Atheros Smart Net software or the Intel Trusted Connect Service Client? I'm not familiar with this software or what it is supposed to do.
I have a Dell Inspiron N5030. Due to virus issues, I had to reinstall Windows 7 again using the Reinstallation DVD. Right now I am unable to connect to my home Wifi. I'm guessing I have to reinstall the drivers as well, but cannot find the CD for the drivers right now.
