Reinstalled Os And Cannot Connect To Internet

Jan 19, 2012

(After rechecking my OS Resource CD, i realized there was a second section on it that had the last few drivers xD) Ok, so i recently posted about an OS problem that was solved, however, after installation i cannot connect to the internet on my PC.i reinstalled the drivers and all, but it doesn't connect (all wires connected and in place)do i need to do something in the computer to connect to the internet? When I check ipconfig in the cmd prompt it jsut says "Windows IP Configuration" and no information appears after that.

Also when i check the device manager , my network adapter is installed but there are 4 yellow questions marks on:
"ethernet controller"
"multimedia audio controller"
"PCI device"
SM Bus Controller"

Reinstalled XP SP2 But Cannot Connect To Internet

Aug 8, 2012

I re formatted the hard drive, reinstalled Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 2.I go through the setup process and everything like normal. I plug my ethernet cable into the back of the computer, and the other end into my router so I can use a wired connection.I go to network settings there are no networks available, so I go to my device manager to look for missing drivers, I installed the Ethernet Controller driver. I look at my manager again and under "Network Adapters" I have Intel PRO/100 VE Network Connection. Reinstalled Xp - Unable To Connect With Internet?

Jan 6, 2011

I have been expiriencing some connection problems lately. I noticed it after I reinstalled xp on one of my computers. Here is the issue: I have 2 desktop pc's using a modem that goes to a router. From the router the cables go to each computer. Before I did the reinstall I had made a home network so I could access files from each computer. I also have a laptop that I connect with using the network i created. Now after the reinstall of xp, the connections seems to not work, then work, then not work. My other desktop works like normal as well as the laptop.I can even see the name of my network when I connect through my laptop. Now I can't remember how to add my computer back into the network.

Reinstalled Windows XP - Can't Get Internet Working?

Jun 9, 2011

I reinstalled windows XP on my computer using the install disk I got with my computer. However, now I can't get on the internet on that computer to update the drivers, and I can't find anything that'll let me do it without internet.I don't have an independent network card, just what's built into my motherboard. Haven't been able to find the driver for it, only programs that will find it for me, using said internet.

Linksys Wireless Adapters :: WUSB54GC Ver1 Can't Reinstalled?

Apr 2, 2011

I had installed the wusb54gc wireless adapter on my desktop and I have not used the computer in a year.  When I tried to connect to the internet I couldn't.  the adapter was in the network, now it is not.  Now all I get is unknown device.  I downloaded the drivers from Linksys removed the unknown device from the usb listing and used the utility to unstall the adapter drivers.  Followed the instruction to install new drivers but after restarting the computer the only thing that is there is the unknown device.  On this computer the OS is Me.

Linksys Wireless Adapters :: Newly Reinstalled XP (sp2) Not Seeing WMP54GS?

Apr 4, 2011

I have a WMP54GS Installed in a SONY VAIO with a Pentium 4 2.6 ghz processor, 2 gb of DDR Ram, and Just over 60 GB of Hard Drive space. I've run this setup for over two years at this point, all on an XP operating System, from sp1 all the way up to sp3 with no issues. A week ago I ended up with a trojan on my system, and had to do a full recovery. This time I used an XP Pro copy that came with sp2. Not the same copy of XP that had been running previously.  Needless to say when I had the OS finally installed and running, it didn't recognise my wireless adapter. I figured I needed to run through the same process as I had when I first purchased the adapter, and took the card out, ran the intsallation disc, followed the intructions, powered off, and reinserted the card. When I booted back up, there was simply a gray box in the lower left showing "disabled". I clicked on it, and it showed that there were no networks in range, when there should have been several. The only tab on the screen that I was able to click was "exit". I wasn't able to perform manual setup, and when I clicked the "xp setup" option, nothing happened. I was unable to find the device in the device manager (though it may be in the "other devices" list with a question mark, but I can't tell. Would it be something like "network controller" or "ethernet device"?) It doesn't  appear in my network connections either. The LED on the card itself is dormant. Nothing happening. I figured at this point that it must not be fastened adequatly to the PCI slot. So I opened the case, took the card out, and fastened it back in nice in tight. No more give, and in the same slot it had always been in when operating properly. Still the same issue. I've done this a couple more times now, and with the same results. I just don't get it. I've followed the intrsuctions to the letter, and no results. Do I perhaps need to skip the cd and try to install the latest drivers for the card instead? Will that allow my PC to recognise it? I have another machine in my home, and can download a driver and transfer it by disc or flash drive to the other machine if need be.

Dell :: Dimension 3000 Reinstalled OS / Now No Wireless Adapter

Aug 20, 2012

I recently reinstalled XP but 8 yrs ago Dell forgot to give me a drivers/utilites disk (I got 2 for the monitor instead).I downloaded the ethernet driver from my other computer via USB, installed it and since I now had internet access, I was able to directly download the remaining drivers via my service tag Computer & all programs are running like new again, but I KNOW my 3000 had wireless before but under Device Manager/Network, it only shows an Intel PRO/100 VE (my original paperwork say Intel PRO/100M). I know it had wireless before - my ASUS router wasn't wired to the computer and internet access was great. I want to ditch the pesky cord again.

I suddenly can't connect to the internet using IE or Firefox every time I try I get the message "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". My connection on my wireless picks up great and shows signal strength as excellent. I took it to a place that was offering free check ups and they said that I caught a virus which I never seen any sign of catching a virus when it worked and that it had wiped out one of my hard drives and they could fix it for $229.00. I don't have that kind of money so I don't know what to do.

Unable To Connect To Internet Through Anything But Internet Explorer

Sep 30, 2012

I come here today with a problem that has been plaguing this laptop forever and a day. You see, about two or so years ago on this very laptop, it was just another day where I booted up my laptop and was going to get a good day of wasting time on the internet underway. I tried to open Firefox, and I got prompted to download an apparent update for the browser. Obviously I went along with it because it seemed pretty routine and identical to how Firefox had updated in the past.

After the update was all done and dusted, I found myself unable to connect to the internet through Firefox. I would just get a constant stream of "Unable to connect" messages. I thought it might have been a problem on my end since back then I had rather wishy washy internet. So I let it settle for a while. Later on that day I talked to a few of my buddies over Xbox Live and asked if they'd had any similar issues with the new Firefox update because at the time, we all used it and hadn't quite jumped ship to Chrome just yet. But no matter who I asked, I always got the same response "I didn't get any update." Which as you can imagine, confused me quite thoroughly.

Can Connect To Router But Can't Connect To Internet

So now I need to reconnect to the router every minute or so.I can connect to the Internet via Ethernet cables, so I am quite sure it's the wireless problem on my router but not the service provider's fault.

Can't Connect To The Internet With USB

Feb 7, 2011

I am using my HTC Desire HD with USB Teethering in an attempt to connect my Desktop computer to the internet.

HTC Sync, drivers, etc are installed onto my Windows 7 x64 Desktop.

However I am only getting an intermittent internet connection. Sometimes the phone & windows play nice (and I can browse the web) and sometimes they don't (which usually results in me browsing the ceiling and cursing!).

Here is an IPCONFIG output from an instance when I was not able to browse the web:

Code: Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection 4:
Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :
Description . . . . . . . . . . . : HTC Remote NDIS based Device

[Code].....

As can be seen above an I.P. address is being obtained, and Windows knows that a "HTC Remote NDIS based Device" is connected. It simply won't accept the presence of a valid network connection, and as a result it refuses to let me browse the web or do anything remotely useful with the "pseudo-connection".

PC Cannot Connect To The Internet?

Aug 24, 2012

Yesterday my computer would no longer connect to any internet service.

I called up my internet provider because the "internet" light on my modem was red and he managed to fix that but then my computer could no longer connect to the internet. (just as a note; up until now I have had no issues with connections from my computer to the internet or my home network)

The family computer can still connect to the internet, as can my xbox. My PC can also connect to my home network so I know there is no issue with cables.

I'm not sure where to go from here.

I've looked at similar issues through a few forums but haven't been able to find one exactly the same. The next thing I was going to try was:

start > run > cmd > ipconfig/all > ipconfig/release > ipconfig/renew
