reinstalled my windows 7 and it doesn't have the network adapter drivers,so i go and dowloand the drivers i install and it still says no drivers installed, and yes i got the right driver,i tryed everything just cant get it working

View 6 Replies View RelatedFor some reason today my desktop stopped being able to share media with other computers and devices.I mainly use PS3 Media Server to stream and download content to multiple devices including my PS3, Xbox 360, iPad, and iPhone. Now none of those devices can see the server. I tried restarting it, restarting my computer, and updating to the latest version.I've also tried turning on other media servers like TVersity and Windows Media Player and none of my devices can detect any of those either, so there must be something wrong with my desktop's networking (but it can still get internet). I haven't made any changes to my home network since yesterday (the last time I used my media server).My desktop runs on a wireless network with a Broadcom 802.11g Network Adapter, my router is a Netgear WGT624v4, and my cable modem is a Toshiba. I'm using Windows Vista 32bit.
View 2 Replies View RelatedMy cable modem and router are in a closet. From there, wires run through the house to multiple locations. One of the locations has had a wireless access point (WAP) installed which has worked flawlessly. I want to put another device at that location that doesn't have wireless capability, so I tried to connect a switch. The switch does not connect. When I disconnect the cable from the WAP and plug it into the switch, the light on the switch port that would indicate a connection does not come on. When I then connect the WAP to another port on the switch, the light on its port does come on but it does not see the router. I've tried multiple cables (I even tried a crossover cable) and I've tried a second switch with the same result. When I plug back into the WAP, it works fine again. The switch works fine at other locations in the house.
One more thing - When I bought the house, the wire to this particular location was unterminated. I had never done any wiring before but I decided to try to do this myself. So, I read up on the process and bought the necessary tools. When I stripped the wires, I found that the twisted pairs were not just twisted (as they were in the patch cable I practiced on) but each pair was in a single strand of insulation (I'm not sure exactly how to describe this but there were four strands of plastic, each with two wires packaged inside.) I didn't know how to separate the two wires that were packaged together so I wired the connectors with all four color - color/white pairs next to each other. I know that's not the standard. But from what I read, as long as I wired both ends of the cable the same way, everything should work. And in fact, it did for connecting the WAP.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI recently reinstalled XP but 8 yrs ago Dell forgot to give me a drivers/utilites disk (I got 2 for the monitor instead).I downloaded the ethernet driver from my other computer via USB, installed it and since I now had internet access, I was able to directly download the remaining drivers via my service tag Computer & all programs are running like new again, but I KNOW my 3000 had wireless before but under Device Manager/Network, it only shows an Intel PRO/100 VE (my original paperwork say Intel PRO/100M). I know it had wireless before - my ASUS router wasn't wired to the computer and internet access was great. I want to ditch the pesky cord again.

View 2 Replies View RelatedMy laptop won't connect to the internet at all and status shows limited access to router. It was fine a few days ago until a Windows update. I did a system restore on it back to before the windows update and the internet was working just fine but then there was an automatic windows update again and the connection is gone again. When I try to troubleshoot it says the network adapter is not working properly. I'm currently using the main computer in the house. I can't access any network at all on my laptop and I'm nearly in tears. This has happened before about 7 months ago after a windows update. At that time I did a system restore and reinstalled the updates and it worked just fine. This time nothing. I have tried to check for updated drivers for the network adapters but windows says I'm running the recent ones.

I did not validate the version of windows because I was waiting to replace the 500g hard drive with a 120 ssd. By the time I recieved the ssd windows validation time had expired, I tried to validate the version of windows and I could not because the network adapter was now gone! I've found the right one and it still want install. Says it's the wrong one but i'm pretty sure it's the right one. Under Homegroup No other homegroup computers are available. In Homegroup the identical password is displayed on each PC. The Akoya is wired, the others are wireless. Summing up the Akoya cannot access the RC710.
I finally was able to connect two of my computers up to share files. The only problem is My Win7 computer can't see the xp computer although the Xp can see the Seven. When I first set it up Explorer showed the name of the Xp but when I clicked on it the dialog said it couldn't find the computer. The Xp name was in all caps and when I checked on the Xp the name was all lower case so I tried to change the name. When I tried, the OK button was grayed out so I went in to So I clicked on More and was able (I thought) to change the name there. I had to reboot and when I did the computer had just appended the DNS entry I had to give to the original lowercase name.
I was finally able to rename the XP computer! I changed the name to NETBOOK all caps like I had originally thought it was. BUT it makes no difference to the Win7 machine it still can't see the XP machine. I did a refresh and the Xp's name NETBOOK showed up But I am still back where I started from because when I click on it a dialog box just says that it can't access ||NETBOOK.

They both do the same thing.If i connect my HTC hero and start internet sharing, it works very well, and is stable. My ethernet works fine as well. It is like my computer is immune to PCI cards?I have tried with different wifi APs now, but its still the same.I have a zyxel adsl modem, and a linksys wifi AP hooked up to that. I noticed, that when my desktop is connected, the zyxel will get some kind of overflow from the linksys. It says "client reached max number of sessions per host" It's like my desktop is killing the network. I have tried many things. Drivers, fail safe, registry cleaner(I know), killing all unnescessary program, switching the PCI ports, but none of it seems to work.
