It seems to be a driver problem of the LAN adapter, because under XP SP3 on the old PC ervery thing is fine.The driver test told me "newest version" what's to do?
I cant find a network driver that will work. I have a dell dimension 4600 that i am trying to run windows server 2008 on. its original opersting system was xp/sp3 . i simply want to know if there is any working Ethernet driver for windows server.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Dimension 4600i that doesn't want to Wake on LAN. I am running the latest BIOS (A10), Intel Chipset Drivers, and latest Intel Pro/100 VE Drivers. I set the Network Settings to Network w. PXE and the startup sequence is CD-ROM, PXE, Hard disk. I am actually using the PXE, that is exactly what I want. My only problem is I need to do Wake on Lan for the system to wake up and PXE against my backup server. So far, no luck. I have tried numerous utilities and when I send magic packet the thing just sits there, everything else works great, the darn thing just won't come alive unless I hit the power button.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI am trying to do a PXE Boot with a M50 Precision Workstation. I have flashed my BIOS to A12. When I boot up, I get PC Boot Agent 4.31 and PXE 2.41. It starts to do the DHCP, however it errors out with the message:
PXE-E51: No DHCP or proxy DHCP offers were received.
I have a Dell Precision 340 and I went to connect my modem and wireless router to the PC via my ethernet cable. When I hook it up, my computer says new hardware ethernet controller and wants me to add it. When I try to add it, it will not let me and wants me to add the hardware via a disk or CD rom, which I don't have. Because I can't get the ethernet cable to work on the PC I can't get internet, however the wireless router still works......

I selected the drivers that had the check beside them on the driver disk. Now, in the device manager, there is a yellow question mark beside the ethernet card and I can't connect to my broadband connection. Wire is attached... checked that twice. I have connectivity through other computers, so internet is working in the house.

I’m trying to connect to a network with WPA Personal security. When I go to Network Connections, it sees the network and recognizes that it’s using WPA, but I can’t connect to it. I enter the password and it tries to connect but doesn’t. I’m sure the password is right because other computers (Windows 7 and Mac) connect with no problem. I thought Service Pack 3 could handle WPA and WPA2.
View 1 Replies View RelatedMy ethernet was working fine when I shut down my computer then all of a sudden it rebooted and gave me a blue screen. I rebooted it and it started but then it was not able to connect to the internet. The pci adapter driver was not there. I reinstalled it and it still would not connect. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, changed the ethernet cord for a new one and tested the new cord on a different device with no problem but stil cannot connect. It says network cable is unplugged. This happened before and the dsl technician was able to get it to work again unfortunately I have no idea how but it had something to do with the configuration.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a laptop here that I can't seem to turn wireless off on via the switch. While the obvious choice is hardware failure, it's nearly a brand new Dell Precision M6600 and I hesitate to jump to conclusions.
The physical switch on the system will not toggle wifi on or off; it is always on. I can disable it via Windows (Win 7 Pro), or simply disconnect from the network, but when I do it does not remember the wifi passwords, which may be a separate issue.
i have a Dell Precision T3500 tower running Windows 7 Ultimate. This was built and shipped in March 2011 equipped with a EMEA Dell Wireless 1520 PCIe card, which has a wireless antenna attached to the port. The PC is about 30ft from the wireless router, a BT Home hub.From outset I noticed that I was gettimng very slow connection speeds to the internet, but supposed this was because our broadband was using a standard BT line with copper cables, and we are some 3 miles from the BT exchange. I was getting speeds of around 300-500kb/s. BT have just finished installing BT Infinity in my area, offering 'up to 40mb/s' speeds. I upgraded on Friday of last week.
Here's the problem: we have three laptops in the house and they are now all getting between 15mb/s-20mb/s speeds, including my Dell Inspiron laptop which is using a Dell Wireless 1501 Mini Card to connect wirelessly. Sat next to this laptop is my Precision tower, with the wireless antenna. However, the PC is getting a speed of only 3mb/s.The modem and router are obviously working fine. Forget 40mb/s, I am quite happy with 15mb/s. But why is the PC wireless speed so poor?. For a brief five minutes or so on Friday the PC DID get 15mb/s but not since then. I cannot see any way to configure the wireless card to increase the speed.I tried disabling the Dell network adaptor, and installed and plugged in a Belkin USB wireless adaptor (on which my wife's PC had achieved 15mb/s) but this slowed the wireless even more - to around 100kb/s.
I have upgraded my 8600 to windows 7 and everything except the dial up modem seems to be working. Dell says it doesn't support windows 7 on this machine.
Windows does not see the modem when I look for hardware. Dell says it is an on motherboard modem and it is an MDC 56K V.92 modem.
I have an EA3500, I have 30 Mbps download when I connect my pc directly to the modem. When I add in the EA3500 router it drops to only 10 Mbps download on both wired and wireless devices.

have a problem with connecting to my cable internet modem with my windows xp machine. My windows vista computer automatically connects as soon as you connect it to the modem but the windows xp machine gives the "limited or no connectivity" error when I try to connect. The ip address is 0.0.0.0. Of course the isp can't do anything with this problem, and since my computer is past the warranty, neither can microsoft or hp (not for free anyways). That neighbor has left the area so I went and got my own modem and wireless router. I have a Netgear WNDR3400 wireless router and a zoom 5341G modem. I set up the cable connection and everything is working fine with my roommate's new Dell XPS laptop. We can take this laptop to McDonald's and use their wi-fi, or at my parents...or seemingly anywhere else. We have successfully connected 3 other laptops to the wireless signal thru the pk5001z. We had the geeksquad advise us several times...going as far as they accessed this laptop remotely...and still can't obtain a solution. Do we need a different modem? If I connect the cable modem to my (linksys WRT54GS) wireless router, and then connect my laptop to a wired port in the router, it connects in seconds, successfully, This has happened to me 2 other times, when I tried to connect my laptop to a client's cable modem, because my client did not have a wireless router available, in their home. My wireless works fine. This has me perplexed. I'm using Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and NetworkManager Applet 0.8, I've tried some things to see what is going on, such as "ifconfig" "dhclient" as well as modifying the "Auto eth0" parameters and adding my laptop's MAC address, etc.
