Dell :: Precision T3400 Not Connecting To Network Using WPA
Feb 2, 2012
I have a Dell Precision T3400 computer running XP with Service Pack 3. It has a Dell 1505 wireless network card. I’m trying to connect to a network with WPA Personal security. When I go to Network Connections, it sees the network and recognizes that it’s using WPA, but I can’t connect to it. I enter the password and it tries to connect but doesn’t. I’m sure the password is right because other computers (Windows 7 and Mac) connect with no problem. I thought Service Pack 3 could handle WPA and WPA2.

I am trying to do a PXE Boot with a M50 Precision Workstation. I have flashed my BIOS to A12. When I boot up, I get PC Boot Agent 4.31 and PXE 2.41. It starts to do the DHCP, however it errors out with the message:
PXE-E51: No DHCP or proxy DHCP offers were received.

I have a Dell Precision 340 and I went to connect my modem and wireless router to the PC via my ethernet cable. When I hook it up, my computer says new hardware ethernet controller and wants me to add it. When I try to add it, it will not let me and wants me to add the hardware via a disk or CD rom, which I don't have. Because I can't get the ethernet cable to work on the PC I can't get internet, however the wireless router still works......

I tried to connect inet with a DSL "Speed Modem 200" (no WLAN!, no router), RAS failure 651.
OS WIN7 Enterprise, SP 1, 64-Bit
It seems to be a driver problem of the LAN adapter, because under XP SP3 on the old PC ervery thing is fine. The driver test told me "newest version" what's to do?

On my desk in my basement I have two computers, one HP Pavilion running Windows 7, and a Dell Precision running Windows Vista. Now I was wondering if it is possible to share the internet received on the HP to the Dell by the ethernet connections?

I have a laptop here that I can't seem to turn wireless off on via the switch. While the obvious choice is hardware failure, it's nearly a brand new Dell Precision M6600 and I hesitate to jump to conclusions.
The physical switch on the system will not toggle wifi on or off; it is always on. I can disable it via Windows (Win 7 Pro), or simply disconnect from the network, but when I do it does not remember the wifi passwords, which may be a separate issue.

i have a Dell Precision T3500 tower running Windows 7 Ultimate. This was built and shipped in March 2011 equipped with a EMEA Dell Wireless 1520 PCIe card, which has a wireless antenna attached to the port. The PC is about 30ft from the wireless router, a BT Home hub. From outset I noticed that I was gettimng very slow connection speeds to the internet, but supposed this was because our broadband was using a standard BT line with copper cables, and we are some 3 miles from the BT exchange. I was getting speeds of around 300-500kb/s. BT have just finished installing BT Infinity in my area, offering 'up to 40mb/s' speeds. I upgraded on Friday of last week.
Here's the problem: we have three laptops in the house and they are now all getting between 15mb/s-20mb/s speeds, including my Dell Inspiron laptop which is using a Dell Wireless 1501 Mini Card to connect wirelessly. Sat next to this laptop is my Precision tower, with the wireless antenna. However, the PC is getting a speed of only 3mb/s.The modem and router are obviously working fine. Forget 40mb/s, I am quite happy with 15mb/s. But why is the PC wireless speed so poor?. For a brief five minutes or so on Friday the PC DID get 15mb/s but not since then. I cannot see any way to configure the wireless card to increase the speed.I tried disabling the Dell network adaptor, and installed and plugged in a Belkin USB wireless adaptor (on which my wife's PC had achieved 15mb/s) but this slowed the wireless even more - to around 100kb/s.

How to successfully get a Dell Wireless 1397 to work with Windows 2008 x64? I have a Precision M4500 that I managed to install Windows 2008 x64 R2 on. I installed the Windows 7 drivers for the card and the Device Manager says the device is working properly. But when I go to enable the device, it acts like it is enabling it, but the properties always say "disabled".

I have not yet confirmed that this is a hardware issue but I'm pretty sure it is. I was suspecting that it was and issue with SP3 or a driver issue however it is doing the same thing always now. It will turn on and detect wireless networks but when I go to connect the connection box simply stays on "waiting for the network" then just stops. No faults or warnings. This happens with any network.
I stopped using the wireless a few months ago when it would randomly disconnect for any network. The thing just would not stay connected. Just used LAN. I have tried several different drivers and even a complete image restore. It really does seem like a hardware issue. Now I can pick up a new card for pretty cheap but I just want to if this is a common problem.

I bought my Studio 1558 in the State two years ago. Recently, my workplace built 5Ghz network for getting faster speeds.
I found that my laptop could connect to 2.4Ghz ('g') network only. It didn't find 5Ghz ('n') network.
I was confused because I thought DW1501 is capable of supporting 5Ghz band.
After I found the old post on Dell Community, I realized I was misinformed by Dell's document a long time ago.
Due to international warranty transfer, I gave China Dell a call and requested for another wireless card that can handle 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz network.
They told me that they can do nothing except sending the replacement for the faulty parts.
I tried to convince them that I was misinformed by document. They asked me to prove where the misinformation is on Dell's website.
I gave them a link of the post I found. They told me that the post on Dell Community is not qualified as a proof.
The only conclusion they can get from the post is "Staff claim that DW1501 is unable to see 5Ghz. That's it."

I got a Studio 1535 Laptop which comes with a Broadcom WiFi card that is named "Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-Card" in the Hardware Manager.
I tried to connect to my ZyXel WiFi router but though i had it all configured right, Windows would always come up with "you entered the wrong key". After playin around for some time i figured out that everything just works fine when i switched my router from WPA-PSK to WPA2-PSK. My router features both WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK but since my other PC does only support WPA-PSK the router is set to that and i want it to stay that way. I just don't want to buy new hardware for all my other computers.
So is this WiFi card strictly incompatible with WPA-PSK? Does'nt make any sense to me because WPA2 works just fine! Normally they are downwards compatible aren't they? (Moreover, when setting up a connection i can choose WPA-PSK from the dropdown menu.

My wi-fi has always been a little spotty, but today it finally just completely stopped working.
I have an XPS L502x running Windows 7 and a Verizon FiOS connection (Actiontec modem/router). My work laptop (running XP), phone (Android), desktop (Win 8), and my girlfriend's Mac connect to this network fine. But the Dell has consistently had trouble over the year that I've owned it. In the past, I've been able to force it to connect by manually resetting the wi fi, but that didn't work today.
The wi fi will intermittently find the network, fail to connect to the internet, then lose connectivity to the network itself. Windows troubleshooting says I should reset the router (despite all of the other successful connections). This works for a second, but the Dell loses connectivity again (note: I''ve seen that this is associated with McAffee in other questions, but I'm not running McAffee). When I tried running the Intel troubleshooter, it passed all tests but the last one, saying it "Failed to Ping".
Another weird thing (not sure if it's related) is that my computer displays four different Network Adapters in Device Manager. One is the Intel Wireless-N 1000, but there are also two Windows adapters and what looks like a generic PCI driver. If you disable any one of them, you get the Intel "wireless adapter disabled" message. If you uninstall the Windows adapters, both reinstall when you try to connect to the network.

Then to be ensured I restarted the system and my laptop got connected to WiFi. When I moved bit far away from WiFi again the same issue I am not able to connect to.

I have a Dell Optiplex 780 running Windows XP and a wireless router model 7500 from Verizon. I recently bought this desktop and want to use my old one so the kids can play games on it. However I can't connect to the internet with the old system. I tried running a USB cable from the wireless modem to the old system to no avail. I tried hooking up a wireless-G Broadband router by Linksys to the wireless router and that didn't work. Does there have to be some wifi hardware/software on these desktops? [code]

I'm having a problem using this Dell Latitude. It's always having these connection fits where it randomly disconnects & then reconnects to our wireless internet. I'm always seeing the internet icon in the toolbar either on "Acquiring network address" or "Not connected", and when the internet is working, the icon doesn't even show up in the toolbar. This keeps on stopping me from doing stuff like posting in forums (I was lucky to be able to post this :P), logging into my email, etc. This problem, however, never existed on the Compaq, so I know it's not the signal. Is there any way to keep it from disconnecting constantly?

Ive been having problems with the Wireless connection on my laptop for a while now. Basically even though the signal strength is shown as excellent and hovering over the little monitor in notification area shows "Internet access" i cannot connect to the Internet via WiFi. The strange thing is when i connect an Ethernet cable the signal strength on the bottom goes up and i get Internet access but the computer seems to think its got a wireless connection, even though its actually a wired connection. Ive already tried the following
Driver Update
Windows Update
AntiVirus/Malware Scan
Firewall/Anti Virus Off
Ethernet Connection Disabled and Enabled
Changed router channel
reset wep key numerous times
Network Scan (no problems found)

I was recently given a Dell XPS 600 computer as a hand-me-down and wished to update it to Windows 8. It was previously running XP Service Pack 3, 32-bit. The installation went well, but my network and audio drivers were wiped out. I've been doing some research and searching and found the page with the drivers that I need. As long as I can connect to the internet I know the rest of the issues can be easily fixed. url...
'm not seeing any drivers under Vista for the network card. Is there any other way to diagnose this? Remember, I can't connect to the internet on the problem machine. I've heard that XP drivers are not compatible w/ Windows 8...although I've heard mention of Comparability Mode.

On a Dell Inspiron 1545, the internet stopped connecting. I updated all of the networking drivers and that did not work. The 'repair wireless network connection' does not work, it tries to repair it then stops at 'renewing your IP address'. It has nothing to do with the wireless network, because we are at a university and only this computer will not work.

I have had this printer for a while now and I was using it with a Aciontec DSL wifi modem. It connected just fine without any problems via the installation software and a usb cable to initalize. I just swtiched from DSL to a Cable setup. I am using a Motorola "surfboard" SBG901 with built in wifi. It came pre installed with a WPA PSK string. Every time I have tried to connect it would not accept the WPA PSK string and being a legit 8 -63 charcters. I messed around witht he Cable modem settings and eventually decided to turn off all proection for a second to see if I could connect. Sure enough I was able to connect. In my Cable modem settings I have WPA/WPA PSK/WPA 2/WPA2 PSK . When you select either WPA or WPA2 it greys out the WPA PSK and WPA2 PSK selections and vice versa. I am using WPA PSK currently. I tried to switch to WPA but the passcode section was greyed out and had some "radius key section". I am not too familar with network settings just the basics. I used the Dell Wireless connection utility and tried setting up a manual connection by putting in the ssid and what type of protection but it still would not accept the passcode as being a WPA.

My ethernet was working fine when I shut down my computer then all of a sudden it rebooted and gave me a blue screen. I rebooted it and it started but then it was not able to connect to the internet. The pci adapter driver was not there. I reinstalled it and it still would not connect. I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, changed the ethernet cord for a new one and tested the new cord on a different device with no problem but stil cannot connect. It says network cable is unplugged. This happened before and the dsl technician was able to get it to work again unfortunately I have no idea how but it had something to do with the configuration.
