Dell XPS Is Not Connecting To Network / No Wireless Networks Found In Range
Apr 7, 2011
My Dell XPS (Windows XP) is not connecting to my network..can't get anything to show up on the networks in range list. My other laptop is fine. But I just upgraded to Firefox 4 on the Dell, and then the connectivity went askew.

Basically my laptop was connected to the Internet fine and has been for as long as I can remember but today it just suddenly stopped working and when I clicked on 'View available networks' it gave me the message 'No wireless networks were found in range. Make sure the wireless switch on your computer is on. To see an updates list, click "Refresh network list."'. The strange thing is that I'm connected to the wireless network on my phone so it must be in range.I'm using a Samsung laptop (Not sure of the model) that is running on windows xp.It doesn't have wireless connectivity built in so I am connected to the wireless using an 802.11 USB Wireless LAN Card network adaptor that is made by Ralink Technology, which is working properly according to the device status.

I have just installed a Intel Pro wireless card into a HP Compaq nc6120 laptop, downloaded the basic drivers from HP's website but I get "no networks found in range".I've followed this thread: [SOLVED] Laptop Can't Find Wireless NetworkThe laptop was previously using a Sweex USB plugin adaptor and this had been working fine for years. I just fancied getting an internal card for this laptop - but cant seem to get it so work.

I've a Dell laptop with Windows XP. I was able to connect to my own secured wireless network. Suddenly no networks are found anymore where my other laptops are able to find wireless networks. Repairing the wireless network connection does not resolve the problem.how I can find my wireless connections again?

i have a laptop running Vista which will connect to wireless network, but will not connect to internet. I have tried connecting direct to router and also deleting wireless connection & reinstalling with no luck. I can however use a mobile broadband usb dongle and connect to the internet with no problem - appears to be a problem with connecting via something other than mobile broadband?

I have a brand new Dell Inspiron 1764 laptop that I received on the 25th of June. It is "replacing" a Dell Inspiron 9100 that has gotten to be too slow and bulky for my needs. For support purposes, both laptops are running on Windows 7.Overall, I love my new Inspiron 1764. However, I have noticed seriously degraded connection/signal strength with the wireless card (Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-card) compared to my Inspiron 9100 (Dell Wireless 1350 WLAN Mini-PCI card).
In areas of my house that my 9100 can get full signal strength (5 bars), my new 1764 is getting 2 or fewer bars. This behavior is also not limited to only my house, as I have tested it at my job and in an area less than 10 feet away from the wireless router, I have "Internet connectivity problems".
I tried twice this morning to speak with Dell support. The first person I spoke at least initiated a DellConnect session with me so that they could check some of my settings and such (however, why they went twice into my sharing settings I could not determine since they have absolutely nothing to do with signal strength.)
Unfortunately, I was disconnected from the session when I went to an area that had less signal than right next to my wireless router.I then got back on chat support with Dell and received another technician to speak with. I explained my problem, told them that I was in a DellConnect session with the other technician, and they looked up my support contract. They then told me that my warranty does not cover software issues and referred me to the software department and told me it would be an extra charge. I told them that I did not believe it to be a software issue in any way, shape, or form. They told me that it must be a setting issue. I have since spent several hours scouring the internet forums on Dell and other websites checking people who have had similar issues. Some of their issues were admittedly from software settings, but I have still yet to find anything that indicates to me that I have an incorrect software setting.
As of this writing, I am standing in my kitchen, typing on my Inspiron 9100 with a full 5 bars, while my Inspiron 1764 sits next to me with a measly 2 bars, and I am literally standing 7 feet above the room that houses my Linksys WRTU54G-TM router.Personally, I suspect a faulty wireless card, but how do I convince Dell to hear my case and replace it rather than trying to bilk me for unneeded software support?

I have a compaq presario V5000 with Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN installed. I recently tried to set up Wireless connection and "No Wireless Networks are available". My roommate has no problem connecting to the Wireless Network so I don't think its a problem with the router/modem. Also, I am unable to detect ANY networks (neighbors etc.).I have installed most recent driver (Driver 5.60.350.6)

I am running a Windows 7 Professional 32 bit as my office computer. About 3 PCs in the office are connected to the office server through wireless connection (including mine), and another 3 are connected through a wired connection. My connection to the server doesn't work at times. I get an error message that "An error occurred while connecting to . The network path was not found." The other PCs using the network have no problem connecting to the server. Also, the internet connection is shared from the server and I have no trouble with it. The problem is only with accessing the shared folder on the server.

My computer started shutting off and not turning on. I had installed new parts a while ago and so I switched the new parts with the old ones (power supply and Graphics card) and it worked again. But i couldnt connect to the internet and i did a diagnoses and it said adapter not found or correctly installed or something like that. I couldnt find the adapter either. I was going to download the network adapter driver from the dell website on to a thumb drive and install in onto my desktop but i do not know which one to download.

I've bought a new Dell N5050, first it was on Ubuntu, then I formatted my disk and now working on Windows 7. Due to that, I've lost many drivers specially for wireless and network. I've downloaded many from here, but I'm still unable to find these 2. In other words, I can't connect to the wireless connection unless I use the Ethernet cable.
here is an image, it's french.
by the way, I've downloaded a lot of drivers, I wonder why I still got these two missing. ( did I download wrong ones?)

Basically, the issue I am having is we have a class b network ID of 172.16. We had a new phone system installed last year which needed to be on an isolated network as our switches do not have QoS on them. Plus they are quite bad...
Some genius decided to use the same network ID on the new phone system as our current network but they are totally isolated networks.
This is where my laziness comes into play... We use a laptop connected to the phone system's network to connect to configure the phones etc but I would like to do this at my desk. So what I have done is configured a wireless access point on the phone systems network so I can connect to it on my laptop to theoretically make changes to the phone system on my PC, but also staying connected to our network for obvious reasons... I do have some networking knowledge, and I am assuming the routes are going to be completely wrong because of the same network ID issue not allowing me to connect to the phone system on my laptop. But I am not sure if I can add a static route to resolve this.
Interface List
0x1 ........................... MS TCP Loopback interface
0x2 ...00 50 56 c0 00 08 ...... VMware Virtual Ethernet Adapter for VMnet8

Dell Inspiron laptop n4110-6 gb RAM- 575 gb HD- intel i-5 processor 1333mhz. Win 7 -64 bit
everything was fine until yesterday...started up laptop and noticed the network connection icon in my task bar hd the "red-x" through it...i knew something was up cuz i had ethernet hardline in to my machine. after I had inspected every possible home netwrok issue...i noticed it was more pc related.now i go to my device manager to check my network adapters..... there are NONE listed...i go to "View" to find that unhide all devices and note there are only wireless drivers in this device and NOT the typical "realtek-8111E" controller that SHOULD be listed.
So far...i have done these steps
1) ensured BIOS (my cmos is phoenix tianos build) lan settings are correct- done
2) Removed RAM from slots
3) Removed Cmos Battery
4) waited for 15 minutes.it is still not working ....a i even tried a clean install of win 7 and that doesnt work?

i just reinstalled windows on my laptop and i figured i could just download drivers from the dell website. after following the installation order specified on the website.. installing first the NSS and then the chipset, etc.. I realized there wasn't a driver for the NIC on the website. i also noticed that the steps didn't include a step for ethernet drivers, so i replaced the NIC step with installing the broadcom integrated controller. unfortunately, after completing the rest of the installation steps, my Network Controller driver is still not installed (looking in the device manager), a hardwire connection through the ethernet cable gives me "limited or no connectivity" and there is no wireless capability whatsoever.

I am facing this trouble since i purchased this laptop i have a Dell vostro 2520 running on windows 8 pro X64, so the problem is that whenever i try to install drivers for Ethernet which i downloaded from the drivers and download section of this website it gives me an error "Realtek network controller was not found If in deep sleep mode please plug in the cable" now the thing is that it cannot be a problem in my windows as i was running on windows til few days ago, I got the same problem in windows 7 as well,
I have searched everywhere and i have tried almost every solution i got but to no avail the problem still persist and i cannot use LAN for Internet or file transfers,
P.S:- I looked for the adapter under the "control panel system and security system device manager Network adapters" But didn't found anything there saying Ethernet or something like that.
I am uploading the screenshots of the problem i am facing.

I have 10 Vostro 460s, the network cards are not being found on startup. You have to reboot the systems 3-4 times to get Windows to find the Network cards. All drivers are up to date. This may be related to a Windows update, since the machine were fine for a month or so until an Update came out.

I've been having this problem for a few weeks, at first I thought it was the internet itself, but the other computers in the house are fine. A few times a day it just suddenly stops working and in the bottom right hand corner of the screen in the internet options section it says currently connected to : unidentified network. when I click connect again it says wireless adapter not found, "Wireless Network Connection"doesn't have a vailid IP configuration. Sometimes it can stay off for a lot longer and it's generally random times of the day that it happens. I'm using an XPS L502X

I got a Studio 1535 Laptop which comes with a Broadcom WiFi card that is named "Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini-Card" in the Hardware Manager.
I tried to connect to my ZyXel WiFi router but though i had it all configured right, Windows would always come up with "you entered the wrong key". After playin around for some time i figured out that everything just works fine when i switched my router from WPA-PSK to WPA2-PSK. My router features both WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK but since my other PC does only support WPA-PSK the router is set to that and i want it to stay that way. I just don't want to buy new hardware for all my other computers.
So is this WiFi card strictly incompatible with WPA-PSK? Does'nt make any sense to me because WPA2 works just fine! Normally they are downwards compatible aren't they? (Moreover, when setting up a connection i can choose WPA-PSK from the dropdown menu.

I have a used Inspiron 6000 and obviously the recovery CD doesn't contain the driver for my WiFi.
So, like any normal and quite capable PC user, I went to the Dell site and entered the Service Tag. So far so good. However, no driver to be found for my Wireless component. Believe me, I attempted to install ALL Communication and Network drivers available. The message I got in the wizard was always "Installation not possible. Please contact your administrator". I tried to phone, got stuck in a waiting line for 11 minutes 35 seconds, which I mentioned before ripped me off for €10 and then the line went dead. All mails have been so far left unanswered. Angry doesn't come close.
Without telling me to go to Microsoft or Dell or any other obscure website which then leads me back to Dell, where I can get the proper WiFi (WLAN for you modern machine users..) Network controller driver for my notebook, which is a Dell Inspiron 6000 Notebook.

I have a Latitude D830 that I had to reinstall back to Windows XP3. I have installed all the drivers per instructions except that the device manager indicated one ethernet controller (Wireless 1395 WLAN MiniCard) is not found. I ran the desired driver R242906 but it begins and then states that hardware is not found and stops. I have tried some of the older drivers as well but still have had the same result.
Prior to redoing the OS is was Windows Vista Pro but kept crashing so went back to XP. The wireless card worked then.

We are running our internal network on the 192.168.1.x range.
We have just installed a new control system which is running on a closed 192.168.0.x network (no internet access).
What we need to do is use the WRT54G to connect the 2 networks together so that we can VNC into one of the computers on the control system network so that it can be managed.
I have tried connecting the two networks by plugging the 192.168.0.x network into the WAN/Internet Port on the WRT54G, and setting the "Internet Connection Type" to "Static IP" and setting the "Internet IP Address :" as 192.168.1.200 (the main PC I need to VNC into) but cannot ping any of the other computers..

I have a wireless network in a 2 storey house. The internet access and 1 WRT54GS router is on the 1st floor (using frequency channel 11). The wireless single doesn't do very well on the second floor unless there is a device with a strong antenna. I recently purchased a WET610N Bridge and I have an extra WRT54GS (using frequency channel 1).
I would like to be able to add wireless to the 2nd floor by attaching the extra router to the bridge which would wirelessly connect to the router with the internet.

I've found that Android devices (smartphones for sure, and perhaps other devices, like Windows Vista/XP pc's with some Atheros wi-fi adapters) can't connect to our eduroam network (WPA2 Enterprise) if the Access Points (all from Cisco) also have open SSID's configured in it. Once I protect the open networks with, for instance, WPA-PSK, the Android devices immediatly get connected to the eduroam. Is there any fix that can be applied to the Access Points. Below there's a list fo AP models and IOS version we have running. I may mention that this problem doesn't occur with Access Points from other manufacturers like, for instance, Meru Networks.
In the AP's event log appears the folowing:
"Packet to client 0026.3778.081f reached max retries, removing the client"
The steps to mitigate the problem above were applied, but with no results.
PS: The Android versions may vary with the same symptom.
Device types: AP 1100; AP 1130; AP1140;AP1210;AP1250

I have a Dell Precision T3400 computer running XP with Service Pack 3. It has a Dell 1505 wireless network card. I’m trying to connect to a network with WPA Personal security. When I go to Network Connections, it sees the network and recognizes that it’s using WPA, but I can’t connect to it. I enter the password and it tries to connect but doesn’t. I’m sure the password is right because other computers (Windows 7 and Mac) connect with no problem. I thought Service Pack 3 could handle WPA and WPA2.
