The past month or so Facebook has been incredibly spotty. I downloaded Chrome (originally using Firefox) which is slightly more reliable but never that great. I don't have a big scary firewall up, nothing has changed with my network at all!
View 9 RepliesI have been having this problem randomly on and off the last week or so. If I type facebook in any of my browsers it comes back with the connection has been reset. If I use hidemyass I can get onto facebook though. My partner is having the same problem. I haven't got a firewall blocking facebook and it works sometimes and other times it doesn't so I am unsure what the problem is.
View 8 Replies View RelatedThey all just decide to not load pages fairly often. It happens on my netbook and PC, has been going on for like a year. Formatted each pc at least once since it started. It's really annoying. It's been awhile since I used firefox so I dont remember that error message but Chrome gives me the sad face with the x's in it's eyes and says oops I cannot load the page. On pages that auto refresh it happens ALOT. Once I click the refresh button once or twice it loads it fine. My HTC EVO doesnt have any trouble with the internet when I have it connected to my router. The operating system is Windows 7.

im at university and im trying to get connected with their wifi. When i start up the computer it says that I am connected but when i try to access the internet it won't load. I have tried doing a virus scan and i have tried using other browsers but i still can't figure out how to fix it. Also, it works when I plug an ethernet cable into the wall but as soon as i take it out it stops working.

IE and Firefox both refused to load my homepage (google) or any other page in my bookmarks. Uninstalled and reinstalled both, even going back a couple of versions and still nothing. I know I'm connected as my iPhone works fine. With this in mind, I tried opening up safari to see what that would do and to my supprise, it works fine, bit slow but still, at least it works. So now I defiantly know that the Internet is working.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had problems with my net connection at home, Skype is working; at least just for IM, i haven't tried phone / web cam functions, but nothing else will, Firefox / IE can't load any pages, Live Messenger won't sign in, etc etc. I've had a few phone calls with my ISP who ended up running a line test and they insist that everything there end is fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI turned on my PC and started using Facebook normally, it was a bit slower than usual and then suddenly, it didn't load anymore. I tried more than once, but then it started loading only text on the left side of the page and I couldn't use it practically. This happened also with Yahoo, but I didn't see it happening with some other websites, they work totally normally.I stress I have tried clearing the whole cache and history of Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, system restore, check of sfc.exe, creation of new user account, running of an Ubuntu LIVE CD, uninstallation of all browsers and installation of the latest versions once again, changing of the MTU to 1500, turning off my router and antenna but unfortunately nothing has worked till now.What wonders me is that Facebook works normally on my laptop which uses wireless connection provided by the same router and antenna.

Then recently (yesterday) The internet stopped working for everything but my browsers and Norton Internet Security. Steam, DC++, even Adobe updater can't connect. View 1 Replies View RelatedIt started a week or so so ago, whenever I tried to connect to a site the page would run very slowly (but once initially connected would run fine). Then today, I haven't gotten a response from any websites; there is just an infinite blank loading screen. I use Google Chrome, and tried switching to the already installed Internet Explorer but my my results were the same. I have been able to make calls on Skype without issue and even downloaded a game from the Microsoft store since the issue started. I am also using the wifi with my phone to post this, so I know it's not a connection issue. Everything using the Internet is working fine, just not the browsers. I am running Windows 8 with Kapersky Internet security (which has never given me an issue). I, also, scanned the computer and manually searched it for any signs of viruses or malware to the best of my ability and found nothing.

Strangely enough, I can use MSN and Skype, but Steam won't connect.I've tried to system restore just to the point before I installed the update, but it failed. Windows blamed it on an anti-virus program. Turned it off, and system restore still won't work. Uninstalled the new updates, but nothing has changed.

It happens intermittently (probably every five to seven web pages I try to visit), and refreshing after a few seconds always allows it to connect fine. It happens at some point on every web site I try to visit.This began occurring rather suddenly on both of my home computers. All other connections on these computers seem to be working fine. - programs like skype or Y!Messenger work fine
- I did a system restore and nothing
- I uninstalled and reinstalled firefox (that's my main browser, but IE and chrome don't launch either)
- the process shows up for a few seconds in task manager and then just disappears
- sometimes the browser opens but closes itself in less than a second
- I ran a scan with Malwarebyte&Antimalware and nothing shows up

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a weird problem with my home network that I'm unable to fix:I have 2 laptops (Lenovo and HP) both connect to the wireless network and show up as Local & Internet connected on the Windows 7 OS. Both can ping to an outside network with domain names but no pages open on the browser. There's no error displayed on the browser, the page just tries to keep loading. When I connect both these laptops over the wire, I'm able to browse through all pages easily. I also have 2 phones connected to the same wireless network and I can browse over internet without any problems.

I've confirmed that I am indeed connected to the internet (I know this because, for example, I have no problem at all downloading games via Steam). For some reason, though, when it comes to surfing the web using a browser it's as if I'm not connected (even Steam can't load the Store page, I can only download games via the Library).I moved an infection a week or two ago, and I suspect it altered something that is causing this issue. I did get some advice to open the browser and go to Tools>Internet Options>Connections>Lan Settings and make sure "Automatically detect settings" was checked, and "Use proxy server for your LAN" was not checked.I did this, and in fact "Use proxy server" WAS checked while Automatically detect settings" WAS NOT checked.

I have a problem with another computer in the household. To get to this forum, I tried to use my son's computer (he is at college and has not used it in a while) and it shows the wireless is connected, if I click on his weatherbug, it comes up with the current temps, time, etc, but if I try to open any browser (ie, ff, or chrome) it will not connect.

This morning both machine have the same problem; IE and FF are unable to connect to the internet. Same goes for my smartphone; it can connect to the WiFi network but is unable to browse internet. Funny thing is, I have a stand alone IPphone connected to the same router and it works fine. The rest of the time I switch over to a tethered 4G connection, having to change the proxy configuration in my browser(s). I use both IE and Firefox. I know that the laptop connects to both networks simultaneously, but the Ethernet connection is given priority when connected. Is there a way to have say my Firefox browser configured to use the tethered connection using no proxy, while simultaneously having my IE use the Ethernet connection with the proxy configuration?

The internet still works in safe mode with networking, and Windows can't find a problem at all. I've run Avast and Spybot in safe and normal mode and they can't find anything. For example, while testing this issue at thinkbroadband :: Download Test Files, I am able to download the 50 MB test file without any problems.
