View 5 Replies View RelatedThe past month or so Facebook has been incredibly spotty. I downloaded Chrome (originally using Firefox) which is slightly more reliable but never that great. I don't have a big scary firewall up, nothing has changed with my network at all!
View 9 Replies View RelatedI turned on my PC and started using Facebook normally, it was a bit slower than usual and then suddenly, it didn't load anymore. I tried more than once, but then it started loading only text on the left side of the page and I couldn't use it practically. This happened also with Yahoo, but I didn't see it happening with some other websites, they work totally normally.I stress I have tried clearing the whole cache and history of Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, system restore, check of sfc.exe, creation of new user account, running of an Ubuntu LIVE CD, uninstallation of all browsers and installation of the latest versions once again, changing of the MTU to 1500, turning off my router and antenna but unfortunately nothing has worked till now. What wonders me is that Facebook works normally on my laptop which uses wireless connection provided by the same router and antenna.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI just installed several multiplayer games like CoD:Modern Warfare, Counter Strike,NFS: The Run on my PC. But whenever I connect to multiplayer mode, it gives error saying Unable to Connect to internet. However Internet is connected and I am able to surf or download the internet with much better speed.I am unable to figure out what the problem is. I had also turned off the firewall, antiviruses still problem remains same.I think that my ISP is filtering some ports, if it is so then is there any way to figure it out. And is there any way to run my multiplayer games

Model : TL-WDR4300
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : 3.13.23 Build 120810 Rel.44064n
ISP : Bell Canada
We have a WDR4300 router that works well about 98% of the time. We have a static IP address from our ISP configured through PPPoE in the router and are hosting our own email and web server at local IP 192.168.1.200 behind the router. Port forwarding is enabled and working beautifully.
At some times throughout the day, any computer behind the router on our local network is unable to browse to our own website by our domain name (e.g. www.xyz.com) nor by the static IP it is attached to. We also get e-mail errors with mail client configured to use the domain name or the static IP it is attached to as the outgoing mail server. When this happens, I am still able to browse any other site on the internet without problem... just not our own. Also, I have verified that while this is happening (internal computers can access the internet but not our own website):
1) I can browse to our website just fine from a computer outside of our network (e.g. a proxy or a computer controlled remotely from my home)
2) a computer from within the office that cannot reach our website using the domain name or the static IP it is attached to can still reach the website by browsing to the local IP address of the web server (192.168.1.200)
3) the problem seems to resolve itself sometime within 45 minutes of noticing it is occurring if we do nothing. We can make the problem resolve itself sooner by restarting the router.
I have the impression that this problem MIGHT start occurring when users are downloading files from our website. Of course, if this is the case, we cannot simply restart the router to fix the problem because then we are cutting off their download.
I can't load the main page or any user profiles. Can't do it on IE/Firefox/Chrome or the in-game Steam browser. Weird part is that I can use Steam perfectly to play games, Friends system works, etc. Just the websites related to it don't load. Problem started about 2 weeks ago, went away for 5 days, but then came back (only messing with Steam websites again). I know the problem isn't Steam because all my friends have been able to use it normally this whole time. The problem is not limited to my own PC, every computer on my network has the same problem, even iPads/iPhones. I've checked for malware, came up clean; reset router to factory settings, done everything I've been able to come up with and the problem persists.
View 3 Replies View RelatedHow fun. Earlier this week, my state experienced some severe weather which ended with a tree on our street falling and the power going out all day. It took a bit longer after that for our cable services to be restored - internet included. Ever since then, my computer in particular seems to be screwing things up for everyone else. When my computer is shut off, every other computer (one laptop, two desktops) in the house has been able to connect to the internet and maintain that connection all day. However, as soon as mine connects, the connection dies within minutes - for everyone.
I thought it could be an IP conflict but every machine in the house is set to obtain their IP automatically. Interestingly enough, when the XBOX 360 is bridged through my computer it (the xbox) also maintains a connection, albeit a slower one.I have reset both the router and modem, including hard resets, and I've pinged and pinged and pinged. The same thing seems to happen regardless of whether I am using a wired or wireless connection. Here's what I have:
Computer model is HP DV6838nr.
Modem is Toshiba DAZ8821F.
Router is Linksys wrt54g v5.
I am running Windows 7 Ultimate.
I am using Firefox but have also tried Opera with the same results.

+ Computer has been showing a successful connection in the Network and Sharing Center even when websites fail to load and the connection has gone down for others.
+ When trying to use a wired connection for the first time, the computer could not connected. IT jumped back and forth between "Identifying..." and no connection at all.
+ I reset the router with both wired and wireless connections. With the wireless, it would become functional for a few minutes after being reset and then fail again. With the wired, the router would not broadcast at all. I ended up having to unplug it for a minute and then plug it back in to get it to broadcast again.
+ I tried using my cable with just the modem, but the Data and PC lights failed to light up upon doing this.
+ After all of this, I removed the wired connection and re-enabled my wireless on the laptop. Connection was restored for a few minutes.
+ Despite a successful ping after two minutes, most websites wouldn't load.
+ Switched to a different laptop after turning mine off and was able to maintain a normal internet connection for over an hour. After starting up the computer for the first time:
C:UsersManda>ping yahoo.com
Pinging yahoo.com [67.195.160.76] with 32 bytes of data:
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.[code].....
Interestingly enough, despite the successful pings I was still unable to get most websites to load on my browser.
I have a small notebook Acer, win xp, atheros wi-fi.I've had no problems getting on the internet, until,on my desktop computer, with Belkin Wi-Fi add-on, I set up security on my network. Now my Acer will not load Internet Explorer.Once I gave the network logon and passkey on the wi-fi network on this computer, the Acer tells me I have connectivity and very strong signal, but IE will not load.I connected the wi-fi router direct to the Acer and again connectivity is strong but IE will not load.I direct connected cable internet to the Acer and again connectivity is there but IE will not load.I know if I re-do the security and put no-security on the network it will probably work but I really don't want to do that.

im at university and im trying to get connected with their wifi. When i start up the computer it says that I am connected but when i try to access the internet it won't load. I have tried doing a virus scan and i have tried using other browsers but i still can't figure out how to fix it. I did nothing different to my computer. It was online fine and then an hour later when I came back, it wouldn't load any pages. I have a DSL modem and a wireless router that also connects another family member's desktop to the Internet. (As well as our phones via wifi.). The connection is fine on the other PC through a wireless adapter (both are desktops), and on the wifi the phones work perfectly so I know the modem and router aren't the problem. But even though my desktop says it's connected (not wirelessly, it directly connects to the router.), no pages will load. If I use chrome browser it eventually tells me this webpage is not available regardless of which page I try to load, or sometimes it's telling me no data received - unable to load the webpage because the server sent no data. Yet oddly a couple of times after forever it seemed to half load a couple pages. Internet Explorer just keeps trying to load pages forever with blank white page as a result.

View 9 Replies View RelatedHow is it possible to block facebook (or other sites) on WRT610N router, given that I have already set up Internet Access restrictions based on day/hour ?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to block Facebook on a WRT160N firmware v3.0.00. I have a successful policy that blocks edit.com for instance and attempted to add url... I don't want to add keyword blocking as multiple news articles are in regards to Facebook. We simply do not want the Facebook website allowed. I tested the other policies on a network-wide setting, applying it to all IPs successfully, added Facebook to them and it goes right around the block. My guess is that Facebook is most likely designed to make it purposely difficult to block.
I went through the recent articles in search, but they primarily dealt with incorrect application of the policy (spec'ing MAC, or IPs), which isn't the case here. Eventually I will apply the policies to specific Macs, but I want them to work first.
Whenever playing a game on my laptop such as WOW or EvE online my wireless internet will disconnect. I have a button on my keyboard that turns my wireless on and off like many laptops do, and when playing these games after a couple minutes it will be turned off and I need to restart my computer to be able to get my wireless working again. This must be a problem with my computer and not the internet itself because I'm on campus and I see many other people playing games here.

I have the WRT310N v2 and having been having an issue with the Facebook games for the past week. I can logon to facebook just fine, but when I try to go into a game or accept gift requests, nothing works and the page always times out. However, when I disconnect the modem cable from the router and plug it in directly to the desktop, everything works fine. All other websites (Shockwave and Pogo) work just fine, but just Facebook has the problem when the router is connected.
I went through all the settings for the router. Nothing is blocked and everything is in fine working order. The only thing I noticed was that there was a firmware update to 2.0.01 which I did, and still the problem remains. I've made sure that there are no restrictions on IE or Chrome as well. I first thought that the router was crapping out, but have since disregarded that.
I've been using my WRT310Nv2 Cisco wireless Gigabit N router for 2 weeks now, and sometimes, it's blocking access to Facebook.comI am not aware if it does the same thing with other websites, but my guess is that if I fix this one, I'll fix them all. So here I go, I click on my Facebook icon in my bookmarks and all goes well. Then, a while after, Facebook doesn't respond anymore and I'm send to a page that says "this is probably not the webpage you are looking for!" and it goes on about someone probably trying to hack my Internet and so on. But it's impossible: my network is under a solid WPA/WPA 2 security access. So I try again and click on the FB icon, and it shows me this:
"Invalid URL
The requested URL "/", is invalid.
