View 3 RepliesI want to block sites like facebook during my workday but allow the rest of the internet.
The attached settings block facebook as desired during the filter times but after 6:30pm the filter expires and the entire internet is blocked (not just facebook). All of my browsers act as if they are hanging and won't load pages until I disable the filter.
I've also tried creating two different filters (one at a time). The first allowed full internet access all the time and the second allowed access the opposite times of the work filter. But to no avail.
I have fiber optic net, going into a TP Link 1043 ND router out in my garage. All of the 4 lan ports go into one of the rooms in the house. I also have two more routers of the same kind, one downstairs and one upstairs. They are configured in a way, that DHCP server is only turned on, on the one in the garage, the other two act as switches. My problem is that 50 % of the time I can't acces facebook, and some other random sites. The interesting bit is that when I chat with someone on FB, I can see what they write, but my message doesn't go through. The way it goes, is that I can browse on facebook for like 5 minutes, after that its unavailable for another 5 minutes.I can still access the site from my smartphone, but only if its not connected to the wifi network, meaning the problem is somewhere within my setup.I've already tried turning the router firewall off, but that doesn't make any difference.

View 2 Replies View RelatedYesterday I was on my cousin's computer, and we had to remove the ethernet cord to connect it to mine as my wireless adapter wasn't cooperating with his internet. This was all fine and dandy until we had to plug the ethernet cord back into his computer. It locks everything up. If you try to open a program, it won't open. If a program is already open when the cord is plugged in, it stops responding within 15 seconds.I called my brother, and he suggested I run a virus scan via Microsoft Security Essentials and MalwareBytes, which I did. MalwareBytes found 5 problems, MSE found 1 additional one. They have all been removed, however this problem still persists. If you try to start the computer with the ethernet cord plugged in, it will allow him to put in his password, it will say welcome for about 3-5 minutes, then the screen will go black. The mouse is visible, doing it's motion to indicate that it's loading something, but it never achieves anything.

View 2 Replies View RelatedLiving in a student house in the UK, under Orange ISP in central Manchester. My 5 housemates are connected wirelessly to the same router, and are all receiving much faster download speeds (2 megabytes per second etc), and consistant connections than mine (which goes up to 2 megabytes per second, to under 1 kilobyte), yet they may be further away in the house etc.My wireless connection speed varies, changing every second between parameters 54.0mbps, to 1mbps, and ping on ventrillo VoIP software going between 16 and believe it or not, 16,000. I've tried changing the wireless channels, but still no luck, as for connections to game servers, my internet is so bad I can't tell if I've got to do port forwarding/triggering (something along those lines), or if it's just too awful to connect full stop. I'll get to a log in screen, some games like HoN, it will say connecting to server, and appear to time out, nothing happens. Guild wars 2 however logs in, however the second I appear in-game it freezes and lags out.I've contemplated getting a powerline adapter, however if everyone else is getting better wireless speeds and having no issues what-so-ever, it may be on my PC's end, and I'll have wasted £30. A 20M ethernet cable isn't practical either, as student houses have forced closure fire doors which would chew the cable to bits in days, and if a drunk housemate tripped over it on the stairs, they'd rip the back of my PC out...
View 1 Replies View RelatedI run several game servers here locally.... Counter Strike Source, Unreal Tournament 3, Call of Duty 4, Call of Duty 4 GunGame, Garry's Mod.
They all run in their own VM's. All VM's are accessable on wireless via any other protocol RDP and UT3 web admin. None of the games show up in the in game server browsers in the LAN. If you connect wired to the gig switch they show up.
If you go into the console of a game and connect directly to the IP of the machine you can enter the game. There is no problem connecting with the server only that it doesnt show up in the browser on wireless
Obviously my wireless router is funky. WRT160N with DDWRT. Currently setup as an AP.
I have recently started having a problem with wireless lag. I set up a linksys wrt54gl wireless router and pluged my PC directly into it since it doesnt have a wireless card. Recently my roomate has been complaining that whenever I start a game on steam he gets lag, he is on a wireless macbook. Our internet speed is 10mb/s and im wondering if it is the router.

View 2 Replies View RelatedAbout 10 months ago I got a new computer, with it I got a the Linksys AE1000 wireless adapter. At first all was fine, no blue screens. About a month after I got all my game and such installed (I am a bit of a gamer) I started to get bsod error 0x0000000D1 in the middle of my game. I wasn't sure the cause of the problem, so at first I ignored it. I started to get the same error more and more frequently and the same cause of the problem. I believe that the wireless adapter is the cause of the problem, but alas I can never be sure..
View 14 Replies View RelatedI've been having a strange intermitent problem with my E1500 wireless router. When we first bought and installed it everything was working well with no known problems. After several months no one using the router was able to access certain websites as well as a game server that we play on. No one had made any changes to the router settings and I assumed at first that it was an ISP problem. After talking with our ISP tech support they finally suggested plugging my PC directly into the modem rather then the router. I did and found that the websites and servers that previously wouldn't connect while using the router were now reachable. Any changes to the router settings since installation.I decided that just in case someone unauthorized had made changes to simply revert the router to factory settings and reinstall the software. After doing this I found that I could again reach the websites and servers that I previously could not. So time went on with no problems until a few months later when the same websites and servers were again unreachable by anyone on our router. I again reset the router to factory settings and changed passwords as a precaution, but this time the websites and servers were unreachable even though I had just reset the router.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI've been wanting to port forward this game called Minecraft for quite awhile now, but never got around to it, but now that I've wanted to let my friends that can't play with hamachi play with me. I wanted to port forward it so that they go into the game without using hamachi, or any other networking program. I've already tried once and whenever I ran my server, I would say "FAILED TO BIND TO PORT" or just ask me this "Is another running on that port?"

View 9 Replies View RelatedI am attempting to block Facebook on a WRT160N firmware v3.0.00. I have a successful policy that blocks edit.com for instance and attempted to add url... I don't want to add keyword blocking as multiple news articles are in regards to Facebook. We simply do not want the Facebook website allowed. I tested the other policies on a network-wide setting, applying it to all IPs successfully, added Facebook to them and it goes right around the block. My guess is that Facebook is most likely designed to make it purposely difficult to block.
I went through the recent articles in search, but they primarily dealt with incorrect application of the policy (spec'ing MAC, or IPs), which isn't the case here. Eventually I will apply the policies to specific Macs, but I want them to work first.
I have the WRT310N v2 and having been having an issue with the Facebook games for the past week. I can logon to facebook just fine, but when I try to go into a game or accept gift requests, nothing works and the page always times out. However, when I disconnect the modem cable from the router and plug it in directly to the desktop, everything works fine. All other websites (Shockwave and Pogo) work just fine, but just Facebook has the problem when the router is connected.
I went through all the settings for the router. Nothing is blocked and everything is in fine working order. The only thing I noticed was that there was a firmware update to 2.0.01 which I did, and still the problem remains. I've made sure that there are no restrictions on IE or Chrome as well. I first thought that the router was crapping out, but have since disregarded that.
I've been using my WRT310Nv2 Cisco wireless Gigabit N router for 2 weeks now, and sometimes, it's blocking access to Facebook.comI am not aware if it does the same thing with other websites, but my guess is that if I fix this one, I'll fix them all. So here I go, I click on my Facebook icon in my bookmarks and all goes well. Then, a while after, Facebook doesn't respond anymore and I'm send to a page that says "this is probably not the webpage you are looking for!" and it goes on about someone probably trying to hack my Internet and so on. But it's impossible: my network is under a solid WPA/WPA 2 security access. So I try again and click on the FB icon, and it shows me this:
"Invalid URL
The requested URL "/", is invalid.

I have an E2000, and I connect wirelessly through my Macbook. When I use the internet on any laptop I connect to the router (not just the Mac) I can't log in to Facebook, Amazon, Ebay, Hotmail, or any other site, and Google image pages only load halfway. In certain websites I try to use I cannot click anything at all. I have tried unplugging and plugging back in, and I have tried resetting the router.

But I could't setup a policy to block facebook.com. What I am doing wrong? See the attached screen shot. I did click the "Edit List" and apply this polity to the IP Address Range 192.168.1.2 to 192.168.1.254.
I currently cannot connect to any game servers or sync my internet time or anything of the sort. I also cannot seem to P2P.

When someone goes into a game (e.g. Minecraft) instead of typing an IP to join a game they simply type in [URL] and then the server gets added just the same as if you typed in an IP (123.456.789 sorta thing)
My friend used to do this on his website and it worked across multiple games, so people only entered his website and didnt need to remember the IP. if you type in [URL] in minecraft then u can add that server without the IP, thats what i mean.
