Nov 26, 2012I am having a few issues with the HG556A Vodafone Router/Modem ADSL 2+.Firstly i cant get my friend to connect to my game server i am hosting with the same exact settings as we had it 2 weeks ago, Local IP's have not altered, DMZ, NAT etc still the same, External ip is Dynamic and i gave him the new one and he can successfully ping it. One problem is that i cant ping his IP, I get no response. He is connected to the internet.Secondly how can i connect to my server at home with RDP from an external location?

Oct 6, 2012Living in a student house in the UK, under Orange ISP in central Manchester. My 5 housemates are connected wirelessly to the same router, and are all receiving much faster download speeds (2 megabytes per second etc), and consistant connections than mine (which goes up to 2 megabytes per second, to under 1 kilobyte), yet they may be further away in the house etc.My wireless connection speed varies, changing every second between parameters 54.0mbps, to 1mbps, and ping on ventrillo VoIP software going between 16 and believe it or not, 16,000. I've tried changing the wireless channels, but still no luck, as for connections to game servers, my internet is so bad I can't tell if I've got to do port forwarding/triggering (something along those lines), or if it's just too awful to connect full stop. I'll get to a log in screen, some games like HoN, it will say connecting to server, and appear to time out, nothing happens. Guild wars 2 however logs in, however the second I appear in-game it freezes and lags out.I've contemplated getting a powerline adapter, however if everyone else is getting better wireless speeds and having no issues what-so-ever, it may be on my PC's end, and I'll have wasted £30. A 20M ethernet cable isn't practical either, as student houses have forced closure fire doors which would chew the cable to bits in days, and if a drunk housemate tripped over it on the stairs, they'd rip the back of my PC out...

When the router is first turned on or a setting is changed any/all of the computers here can connect to the Ultima Online game server for login but within a few minutes most will not be able to. Feb 17, 2013I've been having a strange intermitent problem with my E1500 wireless router. When we first bought and installed it everything was working well with no known problems. After several months no one using the router was able to access certain websites as well as a game server that we play on. No one had made any changes to the router settings and I assumed at first that it was an ISP problem. After talking with our ISP tech support they finally suggested plugging my PC directly into the modem rather then the router. I did and found that the websites and servers that previously wouldn't connect while using the router were now reachable. Any changes to the router settings since installation.I decided that just in case someone unauthorized had made changes to simply revert the router to factory settings and reinstall the software. After doing this I found that I could again reach the websites and servers that I previously could not. So time went on with no problems until a few months later when the same websites and servers were again unreachable by anyone on our router. I again reset the router to factory settings and changed passwords as a precaution, but this time the websites and servers were unreachable even though I had just reset the router.

So, in my office i have a jack with a cat5e cable that goes to my router. The issue is that the router's internet light won't turn on.We're on our third router and second brand so I'm pretty sure the router's aren't the problem. The 32 bit laptop and my 360 are on the network; the 360 is on a wired connection. I recently purchased the 64 bit laptop and am having problems getting it to connect to the Internet. If I hard wire it in through the modem it will connect. If I try to connect to an unsecured network in my area, I can connect. But for some reason I'm unable to connect through my router. Weather I try and connect wireless or through a cable on the ports on the back. If I try and run the network connection wizard it won't fix the problem. I've tried to unplug the router, reconnect and nothing works. The weird part is that i can connect to the router, but can't access either the settings for the router or the Internet. The graphic that is shown in the network setup wizard shows my router but then shows an X in between the router and the Internet. I have tried everything that I can think of.

May 5, 2011So a few months ago I bought a wireless router, and I've been using it just fine with my laptop ever since. however, my father-in-law has a laptop and he can't connect to the router. and the other day I bought a brand new desktop PC, and it can't connect tot he router either.both my FIL's laptop and my new desktop detect the wireless router, then when connecting ask for the passphrase. so i put in the passphrase and hit connect, and it says that it couldn't connect (quite the vague error message).
I tried putting in an incorrect password, and an error message comes up saying that the passphrase is wrong, so I know thats not the problem. Next I dissable all security, and both are able to connect to the router just fine, but not with the WEP pass phrase.I don't understand why they can't connect since I have the proper pass phrase. I also have a nintendo DS and Wii, both of which are able to connect to the wireless router with a passphrase, but not without.
so, if I have no security all 3 comps can connect but not the wii or DS. and if I have the WEP security on, only 1 laptop and the Wii/DS can connect. furthermore, my DS requires a WEP security key to connect.so anyways, what would cause the problem with the laptop/desktop recognizing the wireless router, validating the password but not actually connecting? but being able to connect without any security?
