His ethernet cabled PC running WIN XP can't connect to the internet through his wireless router, his missus with a wireless Lap Top can connect through the same router. His ISP (virgin) have sent him a new ethernet cable which made no difference !.He said when this trouble first reared its ugly head, his PC suddenI think the first thing
I have two computers and a laptop. How can I pick up the internet using one router? They are in separate rooms. I done it b4, but was done by someone else, who's not here. I don't remember how she done it, and I'm having a problem
I have one notebook and two desktop PCs and ASUS wireless router in my home. I don't have any problem to connect to internet but when I want to connect to my work via VPN I can connect with only one of them If I want to connect with another computer I have to reset router and then connect. after each reset I can connect to VPN with only the first computer which have connected to the VPN and even if I turn off the first computer and turn router off and on again, still two other computers are unable to connect to VPN until I reset the router then again only the first computer which connects to VPN (no matter which of three PCs) is the only one which can connect to vpn. I tryed to get different user name and passwords to use different user name and passes on different computers, all user name and passwords work but for the first computer which connect to VPN
Heres my set-up. In my office building, there's a computer company that gets bundled T1 lines and sends them out to the offices and we pay them. So, in my office i have a jack with a cat5e cable that goes to my router. The issue is that the router's internet light won't turn on.We're on our third router and second brand so I'm pretty sure the router's aren't the problem. If i connect my computer to the same cat5 cable I get the internet without an issue. But, when i put my router in there, it gets nothing. Not even a yellow light.
So i have the Dir-615 and two laptops. Both laptops have windows 7, one with 32 bit and the other with 64 bit. I have had my network setup for months. The 32 bit laptop and my 360 are on the network; the 360 is on a wired connection. I recently purchased the 64 bit laptop and am having problems getting it to connect to the Internet. If I hard wire it in through the modem it will connect. If I try to connect to an unsecured network in my area, I can connect. But for some reason I'm unable to connect through my router. Weather I try and connect wireless or through a cable on the ports on the back. If I try and run the network connection wizard it won't fix the problem. I've tried to unplug the router, reconnect and nothing works. The weird part is that i can connect to the router, but can't access either the settings for the router or the Internet. The graphic that is shown in the network setup wizard shows my router but then shows an X in between the router and the Internet. I have tried everything that I can think of.
I have a Thompson 784 router that connects to the Internet. It works nicely enough. What is wrong is that I have a shielded Cat 5e cable that goes from my room to the router that's in a another room (~30 metres). Both ends are the same; both ends are done nicely; I've tested it with a cable tester and every wire connects. However, when i connect my computer to my router neither one will find the other.
The computer I am using won't connect any of the routers I've tried (one innoband and two sonicwall tz100's, all of which work with other computers), even though it does connect to the internet through the ethernet port. It is a Dell optiplex 980
So a few months ago I bought a wireless router, and I've been using it just fine with my laptop ever since. however, my father-in-law has a laptop and he can't connect to the router. and the other day I bought a brand new desktop PC, and it can't connect tot he router either.both my FIL's laptop and my new desktop detect the wireless router, then when connecting ask for the passphrase. so i put in the passphrase and hit connect, and it says that it couldn't connect (quite the vague error message).
I tried putting in an incorrect password, and an error message comes up saying that the passphrase is wrong, so I know thats not the problem. Next I dissable all security, and both are able to connect to the router just fine, but not with the WEP pass phrase.I don't understand why they can't connect since I have the proper pass phrase. I also have a nintendo DS and Wii, both of which are able to connect to the wireless router with a passphrase, but not without.
so, if I have no security all 3 comps can connect but not the wii or DS. and if I have the WEP security on, only 1 laptop and the Wii/DS can connect. furthermore, my DS requires a WEP security key to connect.so anyways, what would cause the problem with the laptop/desktop recognizing the wireless router, validating the password but not actually connecting? but being able to connect without any security?
I am using LINKSYS WRT54GS2 Router. Mostly I use it for connection via Wireless. I am able to connIect to it via WIRELESS more than one Laptop running Win XP and and tablets.I wanted to connect one more laptop with WINDOWS 7 OS to this network. I was able to connect via wireless this laptop ( win 7) , but the other one with xp gets disconnected.
i load windows 7 onto it and try to get into internet explorer to get google chrome and it says that i need to configure a network so i try and configure one but it says that no networks are connected to it.i had vista on it before windows 7(still couldn't connect)and it said that it was a realtak router but underneath the router it says that it's netgear i don't know which one it is.i have gotten into the router using its ip.also the model for the netgear part is b90-755044-15 it work just fine for this computer although it's on windows XP do i need a driver for the mother board, router,or what.
My uncle has just received broadband. We have a router which is connected to his phone line, but the computer is upstairs. We have measured it and it needs 20 metres of broadband and ethernet cabling to fit. Once we get these cables, can it just be connected as the cable is going to go up the stairs and is hazardous
I have a wireless network using an Apple Airport router. There is an iMac, an IBM Think Pad and a Dell XPS 410 tower (both running XP) on the network and all were working until this week. All of a sudden I can not get on the internet with the Dell PC. When I try to log into the router, it searches for a connection, but never is able to attain one. My network is displayed and I am using WPA security and have been entering the correct key. I have tried reinstalling the drivers, but with no success. I believe I was able to access a local unprotected site, but after being connected a pass word was required. I also tried ipconfig, but it just flashed on and then immediately off.
We have been having a problem with one computer on our network unable to detect our network, or when it rarely does connect, it only has one bar and barely works. The files we attached are one of the times it could connect, when we finally caught it at the right time.We have a total of five computers/laptops on our network connected at different times. We recently updated the router and we've updated the drivers for the network adapter on the problem computer.Neither has worked. The computer was moved here a few months ago and because of condensation the graphics card was destroyed. We took it to a computer repair shop (which is how we found this out) and they installed a new graphics card. It hasn't worked since it got here. That computer was traditionally used for gaming (before it moved here) but if we can get into an online game, our ping is really high, in the 100s.
currently i have my server computer in room a, and i have 2 computers in room b. my current setup is.Server---ethernet cable-----router-----modem, for the computers in room b, the setupis.......computers-------ethernet router----ethernet wire-----router----modem.if i remove the switch in room b, then the computer in room b can communicate with the server computer, if i keep the ethernet router then i cant connect to my server. i need the computers in room b to be wired but there is only 1 wire in the room, so that is y i added the ethernet router. how can i get the server to connect to the computers in room b with the ethernet router?
My main wifi router is a Asus N66U My ethernet router is a dlink dir 130

I migrated my internet from PPPOE to DHCP. My wifi is working with no problem but when I hook up my computer to 1 of the 4 Lan ports I can't seem to connect to the internet I can however log in my router no problem. But I don't get internet access... I wonder what could be the problem. I tried resetting my router and modem to see if just a bug or something but to no avail.
I have been using WRR54GS2 V1 router for some time ( mostly wireless). Connections are mostly unprotected, I was able to connect more than two computers ( both running XP Os ) and mobile phone with Wifi ,
One computer with XP OS will be accessing this network most of the time. After confguring when I connet laptop with Win 7 Os to the network, my other laptop ( the one with XP os ) computer gets disconnected from wireless and can only be connected via Lan cable.
Just purchased the E900 and set it up yesterday. I was able to connect to my laptop off of my main computer. When I went to setup my wifes computer I get a message from the easy connect that cant connect to the network. Her computer has a Lynskys supper boost wireless adapter on a usb port
I cannot connect to the internet via my router. The router is functioning properly two other computers in the house use the router one though Ethernet cable and the other one connects wireless. Things I have done while trying to figure out the problemMade sure all windows updates were up to date Scanned for viruses and malware (none were found) Uninstall the network adapter Made sure the network adapter driver were up to date
I have noticed that when I plug the Ethernet cable from the router to the computer the led on the back of the computer panel does not blink as it does when I route directly from he cable modem.
I have cable broadband internet. My internet modem is a Ubee D3.0. It is connected to my Netgear N600 Wifi router which have my computer and DirecTV hooked up to it via ethernet. My wifi went down the other day. Devices were connected, but were not getting any internet service. In troubleshooting, I attempted to dial in to the router using www.routerlogin.net as well as 192.168.0.1, and I could not get into the router. I assumed the router must have crashed, and I only purchased it a month ago, so I took it back to the store and exchanged it for a new one. I got home and plugged it in, still not working. I can't access it using the above mentioned methods, and the setup software does not detect a router present. I unplugged the router and hooked the computer up directly to the internet modem. Still no luck. The computer does show a network connection in the system tray, but with no internet. I plugged my laptop in to the internet modem, and I am able to get internet just fine from my laptop. I even did a system restore to a restore point last week when I know the internet was working. No luck.
I have a Cisco E1200, I am wanting it to connect to the net using Etisalat ISP. The computer will talk to the router and all the settings look correct but it will not connect to the internet. The router did a software upgrade that it deemed successful.
Installed E4200 with an iMac running MacOS X Version 10.6.8. Wireless connection works great. Also connected a wireless laptop without a problem. But can't connect a 2nd computer is wired. That is a PC running Vista. I know the wiring is good, because the E4200 is a replacement router in a network that was working fine.
How can I get my wireless G laptop computer to connect with the Linksys E400 router? It shows the network and tries to connect but can't. I don't want to buy a wireless N adaptor so is it possible to connect without one..if so how?
I don't want to allow any Guest access to my network, but I do want to connect my iPad to my network. I've successfully added another computer to the network but the router setup seems to want the iPad to connect only as a Guest .Is there a way to treat my iPad as another computer (not as Guest) so that it my network recognizes it in the same way it recognizes the second computer (without entering a password)?
So I have a WRT54G router since a couple of years now. Laptop (Win7 64bit), ipod, ipad, phones can connect to it without a problem, but new computer (Win7 64bit) can't. I can connect the PC via ethernet without a problem though.
I powercycled my devices, I changed broadcasting options off and then back on, changed my security mode, tried the MAC Cloning (after doing the MAC Cloning, I lost internet connectivity even through ethernet), resetted my security settings, changed SSID, I'm broadcasting through channel 11 2.462. I also tried deleting the HomeGroup
Important fact: the network is in the list of available wireless network, but Signal Strength is No Signal and I can't connect to it. My network adapter is ASUS 802.11n Wireless LAN Card, drivers are up to date. I've upgraded to the latest router firmware.
I am having problems connecting to my wireless internet. We were getting a poor signal so we moved our router to our living room where we always are, but now we can't connect. We tried resetting everything, turned on and off several times. Went to the linksys wireless set up page, changed SSID and password. Still can't connect with the computer or our iphones. It shows our SSID is there but won't connect. My internet when plug directly to the computer works fine (I am using it now). My computer can connect to the router Linksys WRT54G, we just can't get it to connect to the wireless.
Sometimes I cannot connect to the router after my computer has been to sleep. This has occurred on different routers. I can still see the network, but am told I cannot connect when attempting to connect to it. Restarting/shut down does not solve the problem - I have to restart the router itself, and then my computer will reconnect automatically. Other computers/devices will be unaffected by this and maintain a connection the entire time. Atheros AR5B91 Wireless Network Adapter using Windows 7 Service Pack 1.
