One Computer On Network Cannot Detect / When It Does Can Rarely Connect To Router
Jul 2, 2011
We have been having a problem with one computer on our network unable to detect our network, or when it rarely does connect, it only has one bar and barely works. The files we attached are one of the times it could connect, when we finally caught it at the right time.We have a total of five computers/laptops on our network connected at different times. We recently updated the router and we've updated the drivers for the network adapter on the problem computer.Neither has worked. The computer was moved here a few months ago and because of condensation the graphics card was destroyed. We took it to a computer repair shop (which is how we found this out) and they installed a new graphics card. It hasn't worked since it got here. That computer was traditionally used for gaming (before it moved here) but if we can get into an online game, our ping is really high, in the 100s.

I am about to buy a Netbook from HP with windows 7 Starter. But a few days back when I tried to connect my friend's laptop to my network using WiFi ,it accessed the Internet but did not detect any other XP computers on the Network neither could I ping them nor could I access their shared folders.
2)And What is N Draft?? and how is it different from WiFi-N?
3)And can I set up Guest Network so that I can give the connected computers Internet access but no Shared Folder access..

My desktop failed to detect the local area network, but my laptop successfully detects that network. What may be the reason? Both the case, the green light is blinking (Means there is not problem with the cable/line ?). Is it a problem related to the network pin? The same desktop is successfully connecting through another line. So it means, it not an issue with desktop computer or it's configuration.

I have the WMP54G internal wireless adaptor. It normally works fine, but I have been having problems with it lately when I turn my computer back on from sleep. Even thought the wireless router works just fine, when the computer wakes up from sleep the adaptor does not seem to detect any network. I have to restart my computer, and then the adaptor detects the network.

My fianc just reinstalled Windows XP Home Edition last night as his computer was virus-ridden and it was becoming impossible to use. It took a couple times for the computer to even pick up the Windows disc, but fourth time lucky and it was good to go. Once reinstalled we tried to get everything checked and download some anti-spyware etc, but it wouldn't pick up the router. The router is wireless, but connects to his computer via a cable. The router is a Netgear 54 MPBS Wireless Router, DG834G v3. We have been told that the computer should just automatically pick up the router, but the only way it will allow us to try and connect is via a dial up connection.

I no longer have a software disc, but setup via the 192.168.1.1 page has worked out fine...until the last reset. After the last reset/reboot of the wifi, I was unable to set up the wifi beyond use with my laptop. This is, no doubt, user error.WRT320N.No hard wire, wifi is connected to the cable modem. Everything in the house was on the wireless.
Issue: Laptop finds and connects to wifi just fine, password works just fine.iPhone cannot even detect the wifi in the house (but finds every other wifi in the neighborhood)iPad cannot detect the wifi in the house (but finds every other wifi in the neighborhood)Desktop cannot detect the wifi in the house (but finds every other wifi in the neighborhood)What do I need to tweek in the admin page 192.168.1.1 to allow other computers to jack into my wifi?

Recently my laptop has had problems connecting to any wireless routers.
Now and then it will connect but not for very long - 10-15 mins max, then connection will be lost even though the signal strength is strong. It sometimes connects after it has been asleep for a while or when it's been turned off.

So I have a WRT54G router since a couple of years now. Laptop (Win7 64bit), ipod, ipad, phones can connect to it without a problem, but new computer (Win7 64bit) can't. I can connect the PC via ethernet without a problem though.
I powercycled my devices, I changed broadcasting options off and then back on, changed my security mode, tried the MAC Cloning (after doing the MAC Cloning, I lost internet connectivity even through ethernet), resetted my security settings, changed SSID, I'm broadcasting through channel 11 2.462. I also tried deleting the HomeGroup
Important fact: the network is in the list of available wireless network, but Signal Strength is No Signal and I can't connect to it. My network adapter is ASUS 802.11n Wireless LAN Card, drivers are up to date. I've upgraded to the latest router firmware.

Sometimes I cannot connect to the router after my computer has been to sleep. This has occurred on different routers. I can still see the network, but am told I cannot connect when attempting to connect to it. Restarting/shut down does not solve the problem - I have to restart the router itself, and then my computer will reconnect automatically. Other computers/devices will be unaffected by this and maintain a connection the entire time. Atheros AR5B91 Wireless Network Adapter using Windows 7 Service Pack 1.

When I plug my ethernet cord into my Dell XPS laptop, Windows doesn't detect that I have a connection. I've tried another cord and it works (it's too short to use instead) and my roommate has tried my cord and it works fine on his computer.I've tried diagnosing the problem, disabling and enabling the Local Area Connection, but nothing seems to work.

We currently have 1 PC and my laptop connected to the internet with 0 hassle. My father brought in his work computer last night and asked me if I could set it up. Only problem is I cannot for the life of me have it connect to the internet.
He has a PC with Win7, and when I search for a network it says there's no connections available. The PC is inches away from the modem. Also, our other two computers had no problem picking out the connection after a quick scan.
I started to lose hope when I ran an ethernet cable into the PC to see if I could get it to recognize the connection.
No luck. This is not a brand new computer, it's his work computer that before the move was operating just fine.

So I have a wireless router downstairs in my house that usually reaches around the whole house. However as of a couple days ago, whenever I am upstairs I only get limited connectivity. It still detects my router, but I an exclamation point and I can't connect to the internet. However when I am downstairs I have a connection that actually works. This applies to multiple laptops, computers, phones, etc.

I tried 3 cables, and even one of them was new. So im sure the problem isn't the cables. For some reason, whenever I connect a ehternet cable to my computer, I cannot seem to get internet connection through it. Some days ago I installed this Wireless Lan device from a CD, that came with a sort of antenne I had to put on my computer. It works great, BUT its slow. Thats why i would like to go on internet with cable again. I remember one day to another that my computer didn't detect the cables anymore, what could be the problem?

So lately my computer's wireless network has started to get really bad, we have 100mbit, and it only gets about 0.3. This seems to be an issue with the range, or something, since if i move the computer right next to the router, it runs at about 50-60mbit. Now a few days ago i decided to get an ethernet cable to try and solve the issue, but my computer doesn't detect a LAN connection, only the wireless one ( atleast it doesnt show up among the other connections). Some weeks ago the wireless connection worked nicely, but now suddenly it doesnt anymore. Currently i'm typing this from an old mac computer, since my internet doesn't work at all on my pc.

I recently upgraded my computer (not laptop) from Windows XP to Windows 7-32 bit. I redownloaded and installed Network Magic, Linksys Wireless Manager and my WUSB600N adapter properly (I hope). Now everything was working fine, I was able to get onto my network through the adapter but today I noticed that the Linksys Wireless Manager seemed to not connect to my network, instead my computer some how did it without the wireless manager. Now when I tried to connect to a network through the Wireless Manager it said Error: 211 and said My Adapter may not be installed properly and told me to remove the adapter and attach it back after 20 seconds. I tried that but again my computer connected to the network STILL through the computers own manager not through the Linksys Wireless Manager. That was still saying Error 211. So the problem really is that the Linksys Wireless Manager wont detect my adapter but my computer is still able to detect it and connect to my network.

My roommate and I are trying to set up the internet, but my computer won't detect the Ethernet Cable. Whenever I go to Network and Sharing Center and try connecting to the internet, the computer simply says "Windows did not detect any networking hardware", even though the light is clearly on and should be working. The cable is also new so it should be fine. I've also been looking around on the internet a bit, and in trying to fix the problem it looks like some of my Services are turned off, which seems to be causing the problem. However, whenever I try and turn them on, I get an error message saying "The dependency service or group failed to start".

new HP 2000 computer he just purchased. I brought it to my house to set it up. No problems connecting to wifi at my home. Downloaded all the updates and got it ready for his house. When I tried connecting to his network, it kept giving me the network key. I know I was entering the correct information because we had his older computer and I copied the exact thing. I had also made a folder when I set up his other computer with his information for his network in it and I was going by that. I tried to automatically connect and I also tried to manually connect. I deleted the name of my network (that worked) and rebooted. It continually gives me the block to put the password in. I brought it back to my house and the wifi connected with no problems. His old toshiba had no problems connecting to his network. I disconnected it and reconnected it. Is there something about the settings I am not doing? Or is it a firewall setting? Is there something in the modem that is conflicting with the new HP. It's a WAP2 Personal with AES Encryption (did not work on that one), where as my network is a WPA Personal with TKIP Encryption (worked on this one). Will that make a difference and if so what do I do about it?

I have a laptop (win7) and desktop (vista) in a network. The laptop is wireless and the desktop is hard-wired into a d-link router. My computer recently updated and since then I cannot connect to my desktop from my laptop. The desktop shows up in the network map but when I click it, it hangs and says "network path not found". I can ping the IP and the name of the PC from command line but I cannot access it. I have internet connectivity the whole time regardless and I've tried multiple routers.

I have recently become the proud owner of a Sony Xperia P which I would to be able to connect to Wifi in my bedroom. Unfortunately, as my router's WLAN isn't strong enough to reach my room (I get internet on my laptop via ethernet cable) I need to use my laptop as a hotspot to be able to connect my phone. So I set up an ad-hoc network to share my laptop's internet connection via its own Wifi. I'm pretty confident I followed all the required steps accurately (enabled LAN connection sharing, etc), but when I try to connect to my new ad-hoc network on my laptop's list of wireless networks, I just get indefinitely stuck in the "Waiting for the network..." stage. I also tried with WEP security disabled, so no key was required, but to no avail. I know the laptop's wifi works fine as I can connect to my router (when in range) without a problem. Needless to say, my ad-hoc network is also not yet appearing on my phone's wifi connections.Running XP SP3, with Intel Wifi Link 5100 AGN.

I have a computer on a school network, i recently set up a WDS server to make rebuilding computers allot easier and faster. I created an image for a Inspiron Desktop 560ST but when i tried to redeploy the image back on the exact same computer while connecting to WDS deployment service i get this error.
<Installing windows>WdsClient: An error Occured while obtaining an IP address from the DHCP server. check to ensure that there is an operational DHCP server on this network segment.
[code]....
Our default IP is not a 169.xxx.xxx.xxx it is 172.xxx.xxx.xxx so thats obviously not right, and then I try typing ipconfig /renew and it waits a super long time and then i get Windows IP Configuration:An Error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : unable to contact your DHCP server. Request has timed out.An error occurred while releasing interface LoopBack Pseudo-Interface 1 : The system can not find the file specified. This computer is part of a lab of about 25 computer and every other computer has no problems, even if i take the network cable out of this computer and plug it into the computer right next to it(I'm take it right from one computer to another, i'm not touching the switch end) the computer right next to it is fine. So its not the switch or the cable.

So I'm currently running window 7 on my msi GT683-R. As of yesterday my internet stopped working, however only on my msi. I'm currently typing this on a borrowed mac using the same network that doesn't work on the other device. It also works on my iPhone. The problem is, neither the wifi nor the wired works on my MSI. I made sure DHCP was on, ran a TCP/IP stack reset, a winsock reset, have restarted my computer/router multiple times, and disabled bonjour but nothing seems to work.
