Desktop Computer Failed To Detect Local Network?
Sep 21, 2011
My desktop failed to detect the local area network, but my laptop successfully detects that network. What may be the reason? Both the case, the green light is blinking (Means there is not problem with the cable/line ?). Is it a problem related to the network pin? The same desktop is successfully connecting through another line. So it means, it not an issue with desktop computer or it's configuration.

My roommate and I are trying to set up the internet, but my computer won't detect the Ethernet Cable. Whenever I go to Network and Sharing Center and try connecting to the internet, the computer simply says "Windows did not detect any networking hardware", even though the light is clearly on and should be working. The cable is also new so it should be fine. I've also been looking around on the internet a bit, and in trying to fix the problem it looks like some of my Services are turned off, which seems to be causing the problem. However, whenever I try and turn them on, I get an error message saying "The dependency service or group failed to start".

We have been having a problem with one computer on our network unable to detect our network, or when it rarely does connect, it only has one bar and barely works. The files we attached are one of the times it could connect, when we finally caught it at the right time.We have a total of five computers/laptops on our network connected at different times. We recently updated the router and we've updated the drivers for the network adapter on the problem computer.Neither has worked. The computer was moved here a few months ago and because of condensation the graphics card was destroyed. We took it to a computer repair shop (which is how we found this out) and they installed a new graphics card. It hasn't worked since it got here. That computer was traditionally used for gaming (before it moved here) but if we can get into an online game, our ping is really high, in the 100s.

I have the WMP54G internal wireless adaptor. It normally works fine, but I have been having problems with it lately when I turn my computer back on from sleep. Even thought the wireless router works just fine, when the computer wakes up from sleep the adaptor does not seem to detect any network. I have to restart my computer, and then the adaptor detects the network.

I've got a machine on my home network running Windows Server 2012 (Based on Win8).The problem is, my taskbar disappears completely. When I minimize an application rather than minimize to the taskbar it simply closes the window as small as it can as if the taskbar never existed (see photos at bottom).
The problem first presented itself after I accessed the computer from outside my local network I'm using a Linksys router and mapping to the server IP, port 3389.After a restart the problem goes away, I will update when I have more information on how frequently or what may trigger.

I have a home network running all Mac computers (though can run Windows VM if necessary) and a pair of USB printers. The wireless router and cable modem are in one room, but the printers are in another. I'd like to find the most practical way to add the printers to the local wireless network without sharing them from a computer. I've tried that for a while, but don't want to leave a laptop connected 24/7 just to enable wireless printing (rather defeats the purpose of a portable computer). I don't have any wired network lines in the home, and am not excited by the idea of running any cables.

My computer is running on Windows 7. It has had no prior internet connection problems. It is wired to my DV-2020 router. My internet suddenly disappeared, as in, it doesn't work anymore. I'm not sure as to when it disappeared due to my personal absence, but from what I heard it was either during 'starting a game' or 'installing firefox add-ons updates'. Internet does work on other computers sharing the same internet (wired and wireless). On the computer that does not have access to internet it gives a "local area connection - No Network Access" and "local area connection - unidentified network." So far I've tried:
A system restore.
Restarting the router (at home as well as the provider)
Changing wiring.
Disabling / Enabling.
Disabling virusscanner.

I have a Linksys wireless G Router (WRT54G5 model) and I've recently had some problems with it. First problem, I cant find my wireless network from my desktop, but it shows up on my laptop but it wont let me access it from there. The power, wlan, port 1, and internet led lights are all on and green. How can I get my wireless network to show up on my desktop and how can I access it from my laptop? If I unplug my router for 30 seconds and plug it.

I've tried another cord and it works (it's too short to use instead) and my roommate has tried my cord and it works fine on his computer.I've tried diagnosing the problem, disabling and enabling the Local Area Connection, but nothing seems to work.

We currently have 1 PC and my laptop connected to the internet with 0 hassle. My father brought in his work computer last night and asked me if I could set it up. Only problem is I cannot for the life of me have it connect to the internet.
He has a PC with Win7, and when I search for a network it says there's no connections available. The PC is inches away from the modem. Also, our other two computers had no problem picking out the connection after a quick scan.
I started to lose hope when I ran an ethernet cable into the PC to see if I could get it to recognize the connection.
No luck. This is not a brand new computer, it's his work computer that before the move was operating just fine.

So I have a wireless router downstairs in my house that usually reaches around the whole house. However as of a couple days ago, whenever I am upstairs I only get limited connectivity. It still detects my router, but I an exclamation point and I can't connect to the internet. However when I am downstairs I have a connection that actually works. This applies to multiple laptops, computers, phones, etc.

My fianc just reinstalled Windows XP Home Edition last night as his computer was virus-ridden and it was becoming impossible to use. It took a couple times for the computer to even pick up the Windows disc, but fourth time lucky and it was good to go. Once reinstalled we tried to get everything checked and download some anti-spyware etc, but it wouldn't pick up the router. The router is wireless, but connects to his computer via a cable. The router is a Netgear 54 MPBS Wireless Router, DG834G v3. We have been told that the computer should just automatically pick up the router, but the only way it will allow us to try and connect is via a dial up connection.

I tried 3 cables, and even one of them was new. So im sure the problem isn't the cables. For some reason, whenever I connect a ehternet cable to my computer, I cannot seem to get internet connection through it. Some days ago I installed this Wireless Lan device from a CD, that came with a sort of antenne I had to put on my computer. It works great, BUT its slow. Thats why i would like to go on internet with cable again. I remember one day to another that my computer didn't detect the cables anymore, what could be the problem?

I used exactly the same ip addresses for the set up on this KDL-373x524 and got messages "wireless device found, local access failed, internet access failed". As my router and pc are the same as last time why the set up doesn't work this time and what I should do?

So lately my computer's wireless network has started to get really bad, we have 100mbit, and it only gets about 0.3. This seems to be an issue with the range, or something, since if i move the computer right next to the router, it runs at about 50-60mbit. Now a few days ago i decided to get an ethernet cable to try and solve the issue, but my computer doesn't detect a LAN connection, only the wireless one ( atleast it doesnt show up among the other connections). Some weeks ago the wireless connection worked nicely, but now suddenly it doesnt anymore. Currently i'm typing this from an old mac computer, since my internet doesn't work at all on my pc.

I recently bought a Sony Bravia HD TV with wireless internet capabilities. When I try to connect to my wireless internet. The TV finds our wireless router name, but when we try to finally connect wirelessly it gives the following message: TV wi-fi found, local access failed and network access failed. The router we have is a Actiontech PK500.On the TV we have three differant ways for the tv to locate the router they are by scanning, the WPS button and by entering the WPS pin. We've tried all three and got the above message.

Currently, my work computer has (obviously) a local desktop. Also, we use a Remote Desktop for our shared network drive (our head office is on the other side of the country). The annoying thing is that if I am looking up a document on the share drive (Remote Desktop) and I want to work on it, the Remote Desktop applications are slow. So I'd rather work on it on my local desktop. However, I have to email it to myself, exit the Remote Desktop, retrieve it from my mail (in local desktop) and then save it

I have a couple WinXP Pros and Win7s connected to the same router wired and wirelessly. All of them have Remote Desktop enabled (via System settings) and have Windows Firewall exceptions setup. They all have AVG Anti Virus and no other firewalls installed. They all also have static ips assigned.Windows file sharing is working fine between all of them. VNC also works with no problems. But for some reason, I could not get Windows Remote Desktop to work between any of themAnother weird thing that may or may not be related is that they can't ping other computers on the same network. This leads me to believe that this might be a networking issue.I have a DLink router (can't remember model) with a Tomato Firmware.I do not have port forwarding setup for Remote Desktop because I think (although I may be wrong) that they are only used for connecting from the internet, which I don't need. I only want local connections right now.
