I have the WMP54G internal wireless adaptor. It normally works fine, but I have been having problems with it lately when I turn my computer back on from sleep. Even thought the wireless router works just fine, when the computer wakes up from sleep the adaptor does not seem to detect any network. I have to restart my computer, and then the adaptor detects the network.
View 1 RepliesI just bought this wireless g pci card and installed the software from the cd on to a windows 2000 pc. When I went to run the software I can only click on the exit button. I looked on the forums and saw that for win 2000 you should only install the drivers by allowing your computer to detect the card. I uninstalled the software but my computer wont detect the card now and if I reinstall the software I cant even open it up anymore. The card is not listed in the device manager at all. Would installing i the first time have created anything in the registry that would have been left behind in the uninstall and would it be blocking the computer from detecting this as new hardware?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to install a WMP54G PCI Version 4.1 in my Windows 2000 Pro SP4 computer. I ran the setup cd before installing the card, then took out the disk. After installing the card and powering the computer, the Available Wireless Network screen didn't appear. I also didn't get the Network Monitor icon on the taskbar. Network Monitor appears in the start menu, but can't be started. Device Manager says the card is working properly and there are no conflicts.
I uninstalled the software, removed the card, and repeated the installation process with the same end result. The card light blinks like it is receiving data. I'm using a Linksys WRT54G2 router. Both my desktop (W7) and my laptop (Vista) connect just fine. How can I get my W2K computer on the network?
I got the D-Link router setup and with the network key. When i tried to type the network key in my pc(which has the adapter). it gave me an error.Network key password need to be 40 bits or 104 bit depend on network configuration. This can be 5 or 13 ascii characters or 10 or 26 hexadecimal characters". what does it mean? because the network key work with other pc..but not my pc with WMP 54G. reason?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm having an issue with a 2 week old WMP54G pci adapter. The behavior is as follows: I get a successful connection and excellent speeds, but every 10 seconds it stops transmitting and drops off the network for a moment. Then everything comes right back. 10 seconds on, drop, 10 seconds on, drop.I've investigated possible sources of interference, but there aren't any strong networks coming though on the same or nearby channels. Moreover, other devices sitting in essentially the same spot are connected consistently and show no variation in the signal strength.
Other info: OS is Ubuntu 10.10, the machine is a Dell GX270.
I recently upgraded my computer (not laptop) from Windows XP to Windows 7-32 bit. I redownloaded and installed Network Magic, Linksys Wireless Manager and my WUSB600N adapter properly (I hope). Now everything was working fine, I was able to get onto my network through the adapter but today I noticed that the Linksys Wireless Manager seemed to not connect to my network, instead my computer some how did it without the wireless manager. Now when I tried to connect to a network through the Wireless Manager it said Error: 211 and said My Adapter may not be installed properly and told me to remove the adapter and attach it back after 20 seconds. I tried that but again my computer connected to the network STILL through the computers own manager not through the Linksys Wireless Manager. That was still saying Error 211. So the problem really is that the Linksys Wireless Manager wont detect my adapter but my computer is still able to detect it and connect to my network.

I installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my computer, and I cannot get my Linksys to work on it, the light doesn't light but it shows up in device manager. I've tried using Vista 32-bit drivers but it doesn't work at all, I am thinking it isn't a driver issue at all because it shows that the driver is up to date.

This is on Win7 32 bit Home Premium. I assume this is due to the fact that I was using a newer and switched to an older piece of hardware and there is some driver issues. This means that it connects, but is extremely slow and the connection goes in and out.Here are some random notes about my problem:
Nothing is disabled, there are not any conflicts, and the problem remains even if I restore the OS back to restore point that I created right after reinstalling Vista (and before doing anything else).If I hook the computer directly up to my netgear router via cable, Windows Update will download and install a more recent version of said driver (no improvement).Other laptops in the house have no problems with the wifi. I installed the Linksys WMP54G wireless adapter card in my windows 98 SE computer before I installed the software. (I now know the software is supposed to be installed before the hardware is installed.) The software didn't work. It wouldn't connect to any network. (I have used this adapter card and software before, so I know how to get it to connect when it is working properly.)I used the uninstall to uninstall it, but it didn't work. It removed most of the files, but in the "program add/remove" window (in control panel), the Linksys software is still listed. Using "program add/remove" to try to remove the Linksys software also doesn't work. It acts as if it is removing the software and then shows a message that says the software is 100% removed, but, after rebooting, the software is still listed in the "program add/remove" list. The WMP54G CD won't reinstall the software. Instead it says the software is already installed. How to find whatever WMP54G software file(s) are left on my computer and tell me how to manually remove them.

I have tried all 8 usb ports on the back of my computer and the 2 case ports. Non of them detect the adapter when running the setup executable. I have no other usb devices connected. Windows 7 was installed on this machine at the begining of this month. I have attempted to install the AE2500 on another windows 7 pc and it installed with no problems. I suspect the problem is the motherboard.
I no longer have a software disc, but setup via the 192.168.1.1 page has worked out fine...until the last reset. After the last reset/reboot of the wifi, I was unable to set up the wifi beyond use with my laptop. This is, no doubt, user error.WRT320N.No hard wire, wifi is connected to the cable modem. My desktop failed to detect the local area network, but my laptop successfully detects that network. What may be the reason? Both the case, the green light is blinking (Means there is not problem with the cable/line ?). Is it a problem related to the network pin? The same desktop is successfully connecting through another line. So it means, it not an issue with desktop computer or it's configuration.

The wireless network has an iMac, an IBM Think Pad(XP SP2)and a Dell XPS 410 (XP SP2). I am using WPA security and the Dell will not connect while the other two computers always connect. My wireless network is broadcasting, but when I try to connect after entering the proper key, it attempts to connect but appears to time out and displays the available wireless network. I tried reinstalling the drivers, but no success. Device Manager says the card is working and enabled.

A few months ago, I switched to a new computer, basically the same model (both computers ran Win7 64bit) except with more hard drive space and two extra cores. I then moved the old computer to the router for a direct connection, moved the new computer in the same exact place as the previous computer, and set up the WUSB600N on the new one. However, on the new computer, my connection has been extremely unstable. Sometimes the connection works fine, but other times there are long periods of no connection (though the computer tells me that I'm connected) and download speeds are horrid during this time period. What is causing the instability after only getting an upgrade to the previous computer?
