I have an HP Pavilion p6724y that has a wireless connection that messes up our wireless internet when it tries to download something bigger than a few megabytes. It'll work fine for five or so minutes but then it'll crash to 0 bps. The lights on the 2wire go red and reconnect after a minute or two. It only does this with my desktop, my laptop and the family computer work just fine.

My laptop will connect, however. The computer cannot find any connections even though I know there are plenty that I can connect to with my laptop at my house, including my own router. Everything was working fine, for the time i used it last year, everything was working fine this time too, for few days. After then, when i boot my pc, there is no connection for few mins but pc is fine. Then internet connection goes live and from time to time i get lag spikes (mouse freeze,sound goes brrrr) and generally the pc is working with a sweat without any workload. A day later everything is the same but now internet is very slow. When i checked local area connection status, i saw that packages sent is going up like crazy, i mean millions of bytes just after i turn on pc.

I have 2 laptops and a Mac that are all running fine and can recognize the wireless signal but for some reason, the desktop PC suddenly won't recognize the wireless. I have tried a system restore, no good. I have tried to load a different Intel wireless network adapter and downloaded a driver from the laptop I have that is connected, but still no dice. I thought it was a radio hardware switch that accidently got turned off, but I can't find anything on the keyboard or tower that looks like it would turn it back on. Running out of leads.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm using an HP pavilion desktop, and an apple airport. Whenever I connect my desktop to the router, it stops sending its signal out. It simply stops appearing on the list of networks. It comes back if I restart it, but then will disappear again after 10 or so minutes. I'm using windows 7, and a Belkin USB adapter. The problem appeared after doing a factory reset. While it is not broadcasting, there is a green light still on on the front of the airport, and I can see other wireless networks.

It can pick up the Wireless connection from the router but I can't get it to go online even wirelessly (although I am not sure if I'm doing that part right). I called my ISP and they reset the modem, etc as well as bypassing the router and we still cannot connect to the web. We looked at the Network Center and made sure that in the Local Area Connection, the Internet Protocol Version properties all have "Obtain address" and "Obtain DNS server" automatically checked. At that point their tech support was stumped.

If you place the laptop next to the cable modem/router, the connection stay up and the download speed is fast (40+Mbps on a 100 MBps connection. I also, can connect via Ethernet cable and get similar or just a little faster connection. ) If I move the laptop away from the cable modem/router, the connection speed and stability drops. Interestingly, if I use simple web-browser to access svn server - it works, but any svn-client requests fail with an error "Could not read status line: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host". I did some packet sniffing, and discovered that with HTTP inspect off the Webbed request is answered, but with HTTP inspect on it is rejected with an error unauthorized. I have an old HP Pavilion that was shelved due to slow issues. Now I'd like another computer to be a stereo for streaming radio in the house. I have many other wireless devices that connect fine (xbox 360, 2 iPod touchs, and another laptop). It will connect fine at my in-laws and my buddy's house. I don't know if this means anything but I set up the network on the HP. It worked fine hooked up throu an Ethernet cord. I know it's not the modem or router. In my network center it will identify the network and show it's connected but in the manage wireless networks window it says it's connected to an unidentified network. The router is a belkin.

I have had this laptop for at least 3 years and it connects to any other wireless connection I've ever tried ( at my sons with Cox, every airport, overseas, and with my previous Qwest routers ). I have a HP Pavilion G56-105SA. Here is my problem whenever I connect my laptop to the internet via wifi, I get random disconnects, and they are completely random. It can be minutes or hours without a disconnect, it only happens when I am on wifi and only with this laptop. I thought it might be a modem problem (my modem is also my router), but got a new modem and still the same thing. I have reformatted my laptop back to factory settings because it worked fine for a long time, still the same thing. I have also updated my drivers and changed the channel to one no one else was on. What could be causing this?

I tried another one (Cisco) from a different PC and got the same error. Tried this on all the ports and updated the drivers. All other USB devices work fine, tethering my phone to get internet for now. Had been using the device without problems for months until getting the error. SEveral wireless devices run on the wireless (Ipod, playstation, Acer netbook) When I turn on the switch for wireless connectivitiy on the HP notebook (still not connected to the Internet) all my other computers and device disconnect from the Internet. The Internet cycles on and off until I switch the wireless switch off and everything reconnects. If I try to connect the notebook to the network it will eventually after 15-20 tries connect. View 2 Replies View RelatedI own a HP pavilion dv7 laptop and I'm having trouble connecting to my home connection. My laptop connects to other connections but my desktop PC and gaming console are connecting to the "broken" internet just fine so I'm assuming it's the laptop.
I've tried unplugging the modem/router for minutes, uninstalling/reinstalling the network adapter device ((It now keeps coming up as "unidentified network" instead of the original name for the connection; Should I be concerned??)), and even just stopped using the laptop for a few days to see if somehow that would fix it.
I've troubleshot it and it says theres a problem with my access point/router but I don't see how that's the problem if everything else is working fine. I've spent 3 hours looking into solutions to this problem and I've come accross that the router may not be giving the laptop an IP to connect too but I'm still not sure how to fix this issue or if it's another issue all together.

I also lose connectivity when transferring files to or from the laptop within my LAN to a desktop computer connected via wireless router as part of a workgroup. Connectivity is only restored once I restart the laptop or uninstall, then reinstall drivers for my wireless network card. I successfully changed my graphics card (i think...) i can run all the games that i couldnt run before but.. I am having trouble connecting to the internet after changing the card. it seems like my computer isnt recognizing the inernet network. i know the network is fine because im writing this w/ my itouch which is connected to the network wifi. When i right click the red X icon w/ two computers and click "connect to a network" , it says "windows cannot find any networks" and i have no network options to choose from.
