Every other computer on the network can connect to both the network and the internet just fine. the wired desktop is running windows xp. I have tried renewing the ip address, resetting IE settings, disabling the firewall, and I am currently running an anti-virus scan.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an HP Pavilion p6724y that has a wireless connection that messes up our wireless internet when it tries to download something bigger than a few megabytes. It'll work fine for five or so minutes but then it'll crash to 0 bps. The lights on the 2wire go red and reconnect after a minute or two. It only does this with my desktop, my laptop and the family computer work just fine.

My laptop will connect, however. The computer cannot find any connections even though I know there are plenty that I can connect to with my laptop at my house, including my own router. The computer's radio search device for a connection is on and the router is working fine.

The internet still works in safe mode with networking, and Windows can't find a problem at all. I've run Avast and Spybot in safe and normal mode and they can't find anything. There is a problem with establishing an internet connection between my laptop and any wireless network, and hence the internet cannot be accessed. Though, the connection can be established locally between my laptop and the wireless network for a short while before the connection is lost locally. There is certainly no problem with my current wireless router as there are internet connections between the wireless network and other devices. Prior to using the current wireless router, I used Linksys WRT54G for internet connection until recently when there was no connection between all devices and the Linksys wireless router, so I changed my wireless router to the current one. However, the problem still persists for my laptop. I can only get access to internet when my laptop is connected to the router using ethernet cable, as well as when my laptop is connected to the main cable modem using the same cable.My laptop model is Fujitsu Lifebook S Series and my laptop is running on Windows Vista Service Pack 2 and my current wireless router is Belkin N300 Wireless N Router Model F9K1002v1.What I have done so far are that I have ensured that the DNS client and DHCP client service are enabled and that I have used the method of "/release, /dnsflush and /renew" on the command prompt.Below is the /ipconfig /all description when this laptop is connected to the cable modem using ethernet cable:

I have an HP Pavilion running Windows 7 that was working fine for about a year on a wireless router at home. I have 2 laptops and a Mac that are all running fine and can recognize the wireless signal but for some reason, the desktop PC suddenly won't recognize the wireless. I have tried a system restore, no good. I have tried to load a different Intel wireless network adapter and downloaded a driver from the laptop I have that is connected, but still no dice. I thought it was a radio hardware switch that accidently got turned off, but I can't find anything on the keyboard or tower that looks like it would turn it back on. Running out of leads.

I am trying to access the internet wirelessly from another pc running Windows XP. The wireless pc indicates it is connected to the network with excellent signal strength. It will not connect to the internet. I can successfully ping the router but it is unsuccessful when pinging an internet address.
An additional wireless pc (WinXP) and my phone (Android) also show connected to the network but will not connect to the internet.
These wireless computers used to be able to access the internet before we moved house. They only thing I think that has changed is the addition of Windows firewall and anti-virus. It may however be something else.
I have a WMP110v2 card installed in my desktop. It can connect to my wireless network, but it cannot access the internet. Other computers on the network can connect to the internet (wired and wireless), so I know it's not a problem with my modem/router. I have tried reinstalling the device several times, but nothing seems to work. My roommate has a HP pavilion that she has been trying to connect to our internet, and while it seems to be connecting to the network, it wont connect to the internet.Its running Vista, and I tried all the repairs that it prompted me to try, but could not resolve the issue.I know it isn't a internet problem, because the desktop is hardwired and we have two xbox's that connect wireless with no problems.Im not sure what info I should have included in this thread, but its my first post and wasn't sure what I needed to put.

At the moment it keeps fluctuating between giving me interne and not I am using Skype to tell me if I have Internet ( when it's green I do when it's grey I don't) I have tried many things on forums like obtaining ip automatically or obtaining a fixed ip. I've tried renewing the ip and all this doesnt work.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSanta got a second-hand acer mini-laptop for my daughter this last Christmas and she accidentally pour some coke in it, I took it to the shop and I had to pay to repair it; when I got it back, the first thing is that originally it has Windows 7 and now XP, I thought it was ok, but even though I use my network passkey and everything, it quickly connected to the network showing internet access but when I open IE, it shows a message to diagnose connection problems, I run the repair wizard and nothing, but all the time it is showing that the connection is working, will I need to take it back to the shop or is there something I can do?

The initial setup was wireless and worked fine for years. I've tried every advise I could find online: Powered off and on the modem and the router, disabled and enabled the adapter, reseted WINSOCK and TCP/IP, assigned a permanent IP address, did a system restore to the last day the internet worked, turned off windows defender (windows firewall has always been off), turned off Webroot, I bought a new wireless USB adapter which connected to the network but still no internet access and my last resort: I got a really long ethernet cable and connected directly to the wireless router AND then directly to the modem... NOTHING! Still says that I am connected to an unidentified network and that there is not internet access.

It connects me to the internet, but then after a few minutes on the task bar where it tells you what you are currently connected to a yellow (!) shows up. It tells me that I am connected to my network, but it says that I do not have any or sometimes even limited internet access. I have other computers in the house (3 laptops, sometimes 4, and 2 desktops) that do not have any issues connecting or staying connected to the internet. The laptop with the issue has Norton installed on it and it is with Windows 7. My ISP is AT&T, DSL. My router is a LinkSys router.
View 15 Replies View RelatedI have no admin privileges or access to the router, I have contacted support and they've tried various fixes on their end and just told me it must be a problem on my side. the network registers a mac address under your account name and then assigns an ip.My problem is that my comouter connects to the network fine, and tells me I have internet access, but I can't actually access the internet when I try. I'm definitely connected to the network as i can access the ask4 page that allows me to register a new device, which i access with an ip address of 10.142.0.1 so I'm guessing that's stored locally somewhere on the network. I have tried internet explorer, FireFox and chrome, as well as connecting through game portals and none of them are able to access the internet.
IE gives an error that it says can't be fixed as its an error with the server and Chrome gives error 101 (net::ERR_CONNECTION_RESET). I've tried various fixes, some of which have worked temporarily. After trying most of them I've had internet access that has lasted between 5 minutes and a few hours, but the problem has always returned and the same fix that worked first time hasn't always worked again. I have an xbox that I connect to the same network port in the wall and that accesses the internet perfectly. My computer has 2 Ethernet ports and both have the same problem.
My network adapters are 2 NVIDIA nforce networking controllers (drivers are up to date)When the problem started I was on Windows vista, but I've upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit as an attempt to fix it.I've tried different Ethernet cables, connecting both ports, uninstalling my network adapter drivers, disabling and re-enabling them, resetting my IE settings, disabling and uninstalling my AntiVirus,connecting through an Ethernet switch and disconnecting and reconnecting the cable.
Recently my laptop, which is successfully connected to the wireless network, has failed to recognize shared folders on my desktop and the external hard drive connected to it. Laptop running 7, desktop running XP Pro. 2 days ago it was working fine. Yesterday it stopped working. I have made no changes that I can think of. All of the folders on the desktop and external drive that I want shared are set up for sharing. So, my question is, what do I need to do to again be able to read and write to these folders, especially the ones on the external hard drive. I believe the adjustment has to be made on the desktop, either in the network connections or the file sharing, but the laptop may need adjusted as well.
View 14 Replies View RelatedI'm using an HP pavilion desktop, and an apple airport. Whenever I connect my desktop to the router, it stops sending its signal out. It simply stops appearing on the list of networks. It comes back if I restart it, but then will disappear again after 10 or so minutes. I'm using windows 7, and a Belkin USB adapter. The problem appeared after doing a factory reset. While it is not broadcasting, there is a green light still on on the front of the airport, and I can see other wireless networks.

I have many other wireless devices that connect fine (xbox 360, 2 iPod touchs, and another laptop). It will connect fine at my in-laws and my buddy's house. I don't know if this means anything but I set up the network on the HP. It worked fine hooked up throu an Ethernet cord. I know it's not the modem or router. In my network center it will identify the network and show it's connected but in the manage wireless networks window it says it's connected to an unidentified network. The router is a belkin.

I connect to my home wifi network and will have excellent signal strength, but after about 20 minutes or so, I will lose internet access, but will stay connected to my wifi network. If I join my neighbor's wifi network I will have the same issue.I will connect to a network, and while still connected, I will suddenly lose internet access (signal strength will remain the same). Switching networks doesn't correct the problem.
When I lose internet, I can disconnect from the network and reconnect mere seconds later and will have the internet access back again.I have reset the modem/router and my computer numerous times but the problem does not go away.
