The ethernet card integrated into the mother board quit working, it doesn't even show that one exist. What ethernet card can I replace it with, or can I.

NEED TO FIND PROPER NIC . MY COMPUTER HAS NO ETHERNET PORT
I've been having some problems with my Ethernet connection lately. The problem started early last week. I'm currently relocating, so I unplugged my laptop from the Ethernet connection I had at my old place. At two different locales, I have tried to use an Ethernet connection in order to get better speed (the wireless at the first locale was non-existent and at the second it is extremely slow in my room). I have done so with two separate cables that I have tested on others' computers and found that they are perfectly fine. That, of course, leads me to believe that it is my computer and is either a hardware or software problem (here's hoping it's the latter).Anyway, my laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1720 (purchased in 2006). About a year ago, I updated to Windows 7 from the pre-installed Vista. Never had any problems (as I said, everything was fine up until about a week ago). The installed card is a Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller. Everything under Device Manager indicates that the hardware is working properly and has all of its drivers installed, but nothing is working.I have tried to uninstall and re-install the drivers (albeit by allowing windows to find them automatically), but the result is the exact same.I have checked the port and found that there is no debris or obstructions. My computer hasn't been dropped or mishandled in any way.View 13 Replies View Related

Have just acquired new used HP desktop running Windows Vista. System has a Broadcom NeXtreme Gigabit Ethernet card installed, which gets me to the internet OK when using a LAN cable from wireless router. But I can't make wireless connection. Vista tells me that I need a wireless network adapter.Am I missing something? Is it possible to change some settings to get the Broadcom card to go wireless? If not, what sort of adapter is needed, and is such adapter external or will it have to be installed in the system box?View 3 Replies View Related
I have a HP DV6000 Laptop. The wireless coverage is not very good and I was thinking of upgrading the Wireless card to something better. The current card is HP Pavilion DV9000 PCI-Express Wireless WIFI Card 802.11a/b/g 441075-001 by HP. Is it even possible to install another card in the laptop or does HP limit what you can put in this laptopView 3 Replies View Related
I'm using an HP pavilion desktop, and an apple airport. Whenever I connect my desktop to the router, it stops sending its signal out. It simply stops appearing on the list of networks. It comes back if I restart it, but then will disappear again after 10 or so minutes. I'm using windows 7, and a Belkin USB adapter. The problem appeared after doing a factory reset. While it is not broadcasting, there is a green light still on on the front of the airport, and I can see other wireless networks.View 1 Replies View Related
I have a Vostro 460 desktop, recently bought, and then realized it would be better to add wireless router. Bought router and a PCIe wireless mini card that was suggested for my PC on Dell order site. The card arrived and am trying to install. The end plate with the aerial socket is not compatible with the removable access blanks in rear of case. Have I been sent an incorrect or unsuitable card, or is there some trick or adapting needed to install this card?View 3 Replies View Related
We bought a Cisco line card WS-X4648-RJ45-E for Cisco 4507 R-E. Later on I found that this module is not working with the chassis becuase supervisor engine 4 we are using. Supervisor Engine 6 is required for WS-X4648-RJ45-E. Now I want to go for WS-X4548-RJ45. Is it possible to return the line card? Is there any possible way to exchange?View 6 Replies View Related

I have an HP Pavilion running Windows 7 that was working fine for about a year on a wireless router at home. I have 2 laptops and a Mac that are all running fine and can recognize the wireless signal but for some reason, the desktop PC suddenly won't recognize the wireless. I have tried a system restore, no good. I have tried to load a different Intel wireless network adapter and downloaded a driver from the laptop I have that is connected, but still no dice. I thought it was a radio hardware switch that accidently got turned off, but I can't find anything on the keyboard or tower that looks like it would turn it back on. Running out of leads.View 9 Replies View Related
I have a HP desktop Pavilion p6531 p-b (Windows 7) that is hardwired to a Linksys 2500 Router. Internet worked fine until this morning where it can't connect at all. It can pick up the Wireless connection from the router but I can't get it to go online even wirelessly (although I am not sure if I'm doing that part right). I called my ISP and they reset the modem, etc as well as bypassing the router and we still cannot connect to the web. We looked at the Network Center and made sure that in the Local Area Connection, the Internet Protocol Version properties all have "Obtain address" and "Obtain DNS server" automatically checked. At that point their tech support was stumped.View 6 Replies View Related
I have a HP Pavilion D4990Y that I haven't used for about 6 months now. I just decided to set it back up but it will not connect to the internet. My laptop will connect, however. The computer cannot find any connections even though I know there are plenty that I can connect to with my laptop at my house, including my own router. The computer's radio search device for a connection is on and the router is working fine.View 1 Replies View Related
I have an HP Pavilion p6724y that has a wireless connection that messes up our wireless internet when it tries to download something bigger than a few megabytes. It'll work fine for five or so minutes but then it'll crash to 0 bps. The lights on the 2wire go red and reconnect after a minute or two. It only does this with my desktop, my laptop and the family computer work just fine.View 2 Replies View Related
I was wondering if it is at all possible to take full advantage of WOL if my network card supports it but my bios don't. I am considering buying a network card to that supports WOL. Would this work even if my bios don't have an option to WOL? I am running Windows 7 64-but on an HP Pavilion p6270z. And I am thinking of buying this network card:[URL] After buying this card I cannot figure out how to allow it to wake my computer from sleep none-the-less from shutdown?View 2 Replies View Related
I own an HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC and recently purchased a Cisco E1500 to replace my aging WRTG54 wireless router. Since installation of the new router I keep getting dropped from my LAN and the internet with "connectivity issues" ... this only occurs on my notebook PC and not the other wireless devices I have in my home. I’ve done some searching on the internet and this seems to be a generic problem with the Broadcom 802.11b/g/n card the notebook uses. I have 2 questions:
1) Is there an easy way to adjust either the card or the router to deal with these issues and if not then
2) what is the best notebook card to replace the Broadcom with to assure these issues go away.
We currently have a WS-C6506 chassis with a line-card WS-X6408A-GBIC. Currently we need to replace the chassis by a Ws-6504-E and also the line-card. My question is: What must buy line-card and meets the same specifications of WS-X6408A-GBIC?.View 4 Replies View Related
Had a look inside my HP Pavilion p6685l recently and found there wasn't any wifi card which was odd because it's been working fine for months.Device Manager says theres a 802.11n Wireless Lan Card in there but I traced the wires from the ariel to a chip on the board (MSI 2A9C according to Belarc ). Property sheet says it's a Ralink Card and so does the vendor id ( 1814 ) but the device id (3092) belongs to an Intel I20 1.5 Raid Controller which is where I got lost. I didn't know Raid Controllers did wifi.View 14 Replies View Related

I have a Notebook HP Pavillion DV6 3113sa with Windows 7 64-bit My Broadcom Bluetooth and Wireless Combo Card is not being detected. On device manager> Network adapters I cannot see my the wireless adapter. Realtek PCIe GBE Family controller is in the device manager though. Also I can access internet with an ethernt cable and my phone and other computer can detect my wireless router. The wireless light is also continually orange and will not change. So neither bluetooth or wireless is working. I have down loaded the 2 Broadcom drivers from the HP website but neither fix the problem. However the bluetooth driver says something like 'Driver failed to install because no bluetooth device was found'.View 3 Replies View Related
I used to have an HP Pavillion p6340f desktop computer, and then I decided to build my own. I moved the parts I'd installed in it over the years to the new build, plus the wireless card that came with the Pavillion. Strangely, with the same drivers and setup, the card refuses to find any WiFi signals - not the one it was connected to prior to the move nor the other networks around the area. Changing the drivers, uninstalling the device, rebooting - nothing will work. The symptoms are exactly the same as when I moved the card to another slot on the Pavillion.View 8 Replies View Related
I live in a dorm where internet is provided through a router that is pretty much encased in a metallic box on the side of the wall. At the beginning of the year, my parents bought me an extremely long ethernet cable ( about 15 feet I'm guessing). I have been using this ethernet cord with no problems up until now. I find it difficult to maintain the long cord as it gets tangled everywhere and I switch it between my laptop and my xbox (I can't get a switch to work). After prolonged switching between the xbox and the laptop the little tab thing that you push broke off and the cable starts to slide and disconnects me from the internet. I decided to get another ethernet cable and I tried connecting it but my laptop does not detect the cable and I do not see any lights turn on like my other ethernet.View 1 Replies View Related
I recently changed my graphics card (geforce 9100 to radeon hd 7750) because i wanted to enjoy some simple gaming and my previous graphics card (geforce 9100) wasnt capable of doing so. (This is my pc : HP Pavilion p6100 Desktop PC series*-* HP Pavilion p6130y Desktop PC Product Specifications - c01748306 - HP Business Support Center ). Before changing the card i uninstalled all nvidia related drivers (both in control panel and device manager) because i heard thats what youre supposed to do.
I successfully changed my graphics card (i think...) i can run all the games that i couldnt run before but.. I am having trouble connecting to the internet after changing the card. it seems like my computer isnt recognizing the inernet network. i know the network is fine because im writing this w/ my itouch which is connected to the network wifi. When i right click the red X icon w/ two computers and click "connect to a network" , it says "windows cannot find any networks" and i have no network options to choose from. Is it because i uninstalled drivers related to the network connection..?

I have an XPS M1330 with an internal Dell Mobile Broadband Mini-card 5720 VZW for Verizon. The Dell Mobile Broadband Utility (DMBCU) now reports an APPCRASH upon launch only when Windows Internet Explorer 8 (IE8) is installed. I'm certain it is due to IE8 and probably the required MeadCo Zeepe add-ins that are required for dmbcu.exe functionality. Upon uninstallation of IE8, the dmbcu.exe works flawlessly.
Is there any update or plan to update the DMBCU for the 5720 VZW minicard?
