View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a Netgear 2200DGN router which is shared wirelessly with my other 5 housemates. Now i would like to know if there is a way i can block torrent downloads on the network or the router itself. The options in the router have QoS but nothing to actually limit torrents or control bandwidth.I have looked at using dd-wrt, as i think you can block torrents on that, but my model doesnt seem to be supported. There was another custom firmware called ModFs but im not sure what thats like.
View 3 Replies View RelatedMy current modem, the Arris DG860, when in router mode, handles uTorrents set to 1500 max connections fine, same with my FIOS Actiontec router at my work. However, I just bought a DLink DIR655 router (which I thought I researched properly to be great with torrents) and it crashes even with max connections set to 300 in my client.
Tempted to return the thing and get a better router, any great wireless router that has awesome range and can handle lots of torrenting?
When I use chrome or firefox or another internetbrowser my internetspeed gets really slow but when i download throught torrents i get my normal speed. My regular internetspeed is 8Mbit/s and now it have slow down to 1,5Mbit/s. I just reformatted the whole computer after hours trying to solve my problem but without any sucsess.
View 4 Replies View RelatedWhenever i download something via bit torrent my internet cuts out and reconnects over and over throughout the course of the download. My computer is connected directly to my router with a lan cable so i know its not a wireless issue. The router is a few years old so maybe it just cant handle the heavy traffic anymore. It's a Linksys WRT54G V8 with everything at the factory default settings. I once tried to update the firmware on it but it wouldn't update. I didn't want to ruin the router so i gave up on trying that.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI JUST got this router. For the longest time, I have been using the DGL-4100 ( Rock solid for years ). One of the things I noticed in the description of the 4100, is the "oversized NAT table" .. Better for torrents?
So, upon using the 655, after a solid day of heavy torrenting, I had to reboot it. Next day same thing. 3rd day, no torrents. It was fine for the entire day.
Are there any tricks to get this 655 to be solid for torrenting like my old 4100? If not, what wireless product does D-Link make now that can support many concurrent connections without having a heart attack? I could have 20 torrents open at once with the 4100 and it would not die!
my configuration; ADSL2+ @ 21Mbps comes in via Telstra. Fibre optic cable trunk to main road, copper to the house, total distance 246m, hence good speeds. The phone is connected to a dual port filter with a phone and fax connected through double adapter to one port, and DSL-526B connected to other port.DSL-526B connected to DIR-655 Hardware A4, firmware 1.30. The two are set up in bridge mode, with a static IP. The DIR-655 connects to a DGS-1016D and a DGS-1008.I am running WIndows 7 ultimate x64 w/8GB ram, I5-2500K, and all MS patches.
four days ago I reinstalled my windows system. At that time, I uninstalled Tablet PC components and Windows search. I use FreeDownload Manager for my download needs, and it includes a BitTorrent client. I installed the latest version. From that point on, whenever I download any torrents the connnection to the internet resets and takes about 1 - 3 minutes to re-establish itself. I have tried going back through the several versions of the program to get back to the version I was running before I re-installed all to no avail.
I replaced the cable between wall socket and filter, replaced filter, replaced phone cable, also to no avail. I have tweaked the program settings now with only three half open connections, and I've reset the modem donezn of times. I've reset the DIR-655, and done factory resets on both and reconfigured them. Nothing has worked. I use MAC address filtering and I have ACLS which block access to various sites because of kids, and I use OpenDNS web content filtering too.
It seems it's time to let my trusty but ancient CAT: Networking(Tomato Firmware)because it has problems downloading downloading torrent of 1.0 MB/S and plus.My friend recommended me the Asus RT-16 but it's too expensive for my taste. So I'm looking at the WL-520GU with the TomatoUSB firmware. Can it handle bittorrents with no problem with QoS enabled? Is the 16 MB ram enough to run services such SNMPd?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI reckon this is one of the most asked questions here. I couldn't solve this with the assistance of Google, so I'mma ask you guys:
So, yesterday, I reinstalled Windows 7, and installed all the essential programs like FF, uTorrent, Avast! etc.I put some torrents into uT Q, and I could download them like normal. But later that day, I noticed one download had halted completely and there was a red bar at the bottom(torrent is not available). I thought all the seeders had stopped sharing, and I started another torrent which had hundreds of seeders. Well, the same problem again.
I downloaded BitTorrent and Vuze but they couldn't download a byte either! As mentioned, I'm using Avast! Free as my firewall, and I have added uTorrent as an exception(although on my last setup uT was fine without doing any modification for Avast). I've also disabled P2P shield
My computer freezes during torrent downloading , usually within the hour. I have used various torrent clients and problem remains.I have the latest drivers Realtek 8168 v 7065 . Some suggested to turn Checksumms off from the property menu , but that would increase my CPU load. Some other suggested to turn off Task Offload , but I cant find anything similar in Properties.

I am running a 1941 isr g2 router, which, according to my specs is equivalent to a cisco 3825 - which i also own.Why would the cpu usage hover around 45% or so with ONE machine running torrents? There is really no packet inspection etc...or anything else that would cause the cpu to work really hard...I am on a 100/5 connection.

I was told that I could utilize the 66 block in the mpoe and the other 66 block in the server closet to make this run. Is that really possible? Just punch down the 2 pairs?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am learning to write ACL's along with a billion other Cisco things. The internet is not clear on how to do this exactly. At least in my research.
I have two host on the same subnet and I want to block all except RDP TCP port 3389 from one host to another.
I want to apply that Access-group to a switchport interface on my 3750 that belongs to the computer I want to protect from the other.
Host A: 10.1.1.10/24 -- I need to block all TCP and UDP traffic except for port 3389tcp
Host B: 10.1.1.60/24 -- I need to allow only TCP port 3389 from Host A to this one.
This is on the same switch so I can use an extended ACL like 101 or whatever.
This is almost starting to make sense to me but im still weak on extended ACL. I got basics down pretty well.
