View 1 RepliesFor the past few months, I have been using a Buffalo drive (formatted as FAT) as a media server to function as my network drive for iTunes. Unfortunately, I have recently noted in the last 2-3 weeks that, when copying new files, the file size changes to zero bytes. I do not seem to have this problem when i plug the drive directly into my computer via USB, only when adding files over the network. I spoke to tech support, who said, based on the story in that files can be correctly transferred when directly connected, it appears to be a network problem.
I am running OS 10.8 with iTunes 11 (but also occurred with iTunes 10) and using version 1.0.04 on the E3000.
My ISP dynamicly assigns IP's so I have my New E4200V2 set up as Automatic Configuration DHCP. I want to be ablt to use a specific DNS server rather than the one issues by my ISP.No matter what values are in the Static DNS 1, 2 and 3 the router continues to pull a DNS from my ISp. My POS old D-link 615 was able to utilize a custom DNS server with no issues so surely ther emyst be a way to do the same on the E4200.

Is it possible to change the DLNA Server's name? Cisco49129 just doesn't have a nice ring to it.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI setup my Windows 8 desktop for a PPTP VPN server so I can connect my iPhone 5 to it.Using the Cisco Connect Firmware, as I was having internet speed issues with the Smart Wi-Fi Firmware and I wasn't loving the interface of the Smart Wifi Firmware anyway.According to the router the firmware is up to date. All three VPN settings are enabled.PC is set to a static IP internally. 192.168.1.116 to be precise.PPTP port forwarding (1723) is set to the PC's static IP, though I have tried without port forwarding and it didn't work either. If I have my iPhone connected to the wireless network and point it to the internal IP address of the PC, I can connect to the VPN.If I bypass my router and hook my desktop directly to the modem (and point my iPhone to the IP that gets assigned to my desktop from my ISP) I can connect to the VPN.But if I have everything hooked up normally and try to connect to the VPN from my iPhone (using the IP address my ISP assigned to the router), I get a PPTP server not responding error.

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust purchased an N66U router and loving it so far. The only problem I'm having is that iTunes is not seeing the shared library I setup on the router. I have a usb drive plugged into it and have set the options to use that drive and the itunes server is turned on. I've rebooted the router many times, removed the drive and put it back in. Turned of settings and turned back on. Nothing works. iTunes does see my PC's shared library just fine.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI just purchased a Linksys EA4500 (firmware is up to date). However while it set itself up wonderfully. I cannot get my wireless devices (specifically my apple tv) to see my NAS or my itunes PC, My ipads can access the NAS if i put in the correct address but not automatically.
Everything is connected to my cisco switch that is hardwired (2 xboxes, 2 ps3, 3 tv's, Wii, network audio receiver, 2 NAS, printer, 2 computers, etc). I disabled the Wi-Fi on the bell router. On the wifi are a few ipads, 3 blackberries, 1 iphone, 2 laptops).I am fully aware that the reason the wireless devices cannot see the hardwired equipment is because it is on a different subnet.
However when i try and change the IP address of the router to 192.168.2.2 (putting it on the same subnet) the router must detect a conflict then changes itself to a class A address (10.x.x.x) OR i get an INVALID IP address. As well i have noticed an overall degradation in the speed of my network (all gigabit hardware with cat 6 cabling)
I am using an e4200 router, Windows 7 64-bit, ipad and iphone. The issue that I am having is that the iPad and iPhone cannot maintain a connection iTunes via Home Sharing. When I start iTunes I am able to access Home Sharing on the iPhone and iPad. If I don't connect right away I will lose this capability. Also, the connection is lost after a seeminingly random amount of time. Also, when if I using the iPhone to listen to music and I pick up my iPad and access the wireless network, the phone gets kicked off Home Sharing. The only way to remedy the situation is to re-start iTunes on my computer. I've been messing around with every setting.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI was trying to remotely command my iTunes library via an iPhone app called Remote. It worked for some times with an intermittent disconnection problem due to the iPhone locking. But even after unlocking the phone and reconnecting the Wi-Fi, Remote couldn't find my iTunes library again and my only workaround was to relaunch iTunes on the PC (which is Ethernet-wired to my router). Few days ago nothing worked!!! I could no more get Remote to find iTunes.
I could not find a solution even by rebooting the router or unplugging the PC's Ethernet cable. Last night I powered off the router and after 10s I powered it on again. And then it worked!I highly suspect a problem between my router and Bonjour which is as UPnP, an Apple protocol for discovering communicating devices. Discovery phase being usually done with broadcast frames, something goes wrong in the router with processing the broadcasts, or is it a Bonjour problem? Please note that even now that Remote can find iTunes, I still have my old intermittent disconnection problem. So is there any incompatibility between WRT-610N and Bonjour and what is the fix ?
I think my E4200v2(Firmware Version: 2.0.37 ) should redirect to CCC as this link, is the CCC just could be used in US?

But when I watch ATV2,DS411's bandwidth seems not be reduced,so I cant get the smooth video Its very bad.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWe have the Linksys E4200v2 router. We have two servers on our network that we want to access remotely (from outside). We have two Static IPs from our ISP. We currently utilize one of those IPs to access one of the servers-no problem. How can we utilize the second IP to access the second server?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a static IP on the ATA (Linksys PAP-2T) ...the router will only pick it up occasionally...most times it does not. The ATA is on and working (I can call in/out) but I can't see how the router can't find/see it. I have added the ATA to the DHCP reseve list but still nothing. I have the port fowarded for the ATA but when I go to canyouseeme.org it comes up as "Connection timed out"...becuase I think it can't see the ATA behind the Router.

View 9 Replies View Related I am wondering what is the optimal way to set-up my E4200v2 and PLWK400 at home? I have several devices (laptops, tablets, phones) that connect on .11g and .11n.
My current set-up:
E4200v2: 5ghz - Wireless-N only (SSID home-n), 2.4ghz - Wireless-B/G only (SSID home-g)
PLWK400: SSID home-ext (separate part of the home)
I am using WPA2 Personal security if that makes a different. One question would it be "better" to have the same SSID for all 3 wireless settings (5ghz, 2.4ghz, and PLWK400)? Would the various devices know which frequency to switch to for best speed and range?
I tried to upgrade my router firmware to the latest 2.1.39.145204 (downloaded from cisco website) but seems like the upgrade didn't go well. I am unable to open the admin webpage. I can get to the login page on 192.168.1.1, after i enter the admin password the next page doesn't load. It keeps showing 'Waiting' at the center of the page forever.. I have tried to do the 30/30/30 reset to no avail, i tried to do tftp downgrade to older firmware version but the tftp boot doesn't even start. Is there any other way i can either fix the current firmware upgrade or downgrade it to the previous version?

I power cycled the router and still no connection so I hit factory reset button. Nothing happened. Did a 30/30/30 reset nothing happened. At this point I have a 34 day old plastic brick on my desk and I'm back to using my old WRT160N. how to unbrick this router?
View 3 Replies View RelatedNo problem setting up the FTP server on the router. It's working perfectly from inside the LAN. But any attempt to access the built-in server from the WAN side is fruitless. I found that if I turn off the IP4 SPI on the router, I can suddenly connect to the built-in ftp server without issue from the Internet. If the SPI option is checked, its a no go.
Is this a bug? I can't imagine that it is intentionally set up such that you have to turn off the firewall in order to use the FTP function externally. At least it isn't mentioned anywhere I can find and it wouldn't seem logical.
I've had this E4200v2 for a while now, and it's been giving me a headache because even at default wireless setting with the passphrase, it literally won't ever connect from a linksys wireless adapter using the mixed WPA2 Personal or the 'EasyConnect' button feature or the PIN, with both side's fireware updated to the latest. There is no issue connecting to the router as long as the security is off. I've tried other form of encryption to no luck.
