Internet Connection Disconnects Frequently?

May 21, 2011

Recently came back from college to a terrible internet connection that frequently disconnects or drops in speed randomly (for all computers on network). This requires me to perform a hard reset to restore connection. This usually happens at least once a day and sometimes several. Current set up is a Motorola Surfboard SB5100 Cable Modem and a Linksys WRT54GS router.

Internet Disconnects / Reconnects Frequently

Jun 27, 2011

My wireless internet constantly disconnects and then reconnects right away for seemingly no reason. I can't find a pattern, sometimes I have no dropouts for 6 hours, sometimes it happens every 20-30 seconds for a few minutes. I've checked online and i tried to do some research on it but i couldnt find an answer, i remember typing something into the cmd and it said that something was disables, just cant remember what i typed into the cmd. Also, when my ISP raises the network speed, my router or whatever it is can't handle it so i disconnect and have to call them to set it down.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2500 Frequently Disconnects From Internet?

Mar 20, 2012

My Linksys E2500 wireless router frequently interrupts the connection to my ISP. This happens about 2 times an hour. The connections is - due to the automatic reconnect feature - only interrupted for about 20-30 seconds, but is quite unnerving, as it causes downloads to stop, streams to freeze and website loading failures. The reason I know that the connection is interrupted completely is that my IP address changes every time it happens. I know the failure is not on my ISPs side, since the connection does not interrupt when I connect my PC directly to my DSL-Modem (Siemens C2-010-I). The router runs the newest available firmware (1.0.04 build 1 Dec 26, 2011)

TP-Link 3G/3.75G Router :: TL-MR3040 Gets Disconnects Frequently?

Apr 17, 2013

Region : India
Model : TL-MR3040
Hardware Version : V1
Firmware Version : TL-MR3040_V1_120822
ISP : Idea 3G

I am using TP Link 3040 V1 and whenever I am using it with my IDEA 3G dongle model no E1732 it keep on getting disconnected after 15-20 mins.

When i restart the router again it works fine for another 15-20 mins and then again disconnects.

When I use the dongle directly in my laptop it works fine without disconnecting. So the issue is not in the Idea dongle but in the router.

Dell :: N5050 - Wi-Fi Frequently Disconnects And Reconnects

Feb 8, 2013

About a week and a half ago my n5050 began disconnecting from the internet and reconnecting about 20 seconds later.  This happens pretty frequently, about once a minute or so.  It makes doing anything over wifi almost impossible.  Plugging in an ethernet cable (directly from modem or from wireless router) keeps the internet connected.  My wife's laptop, coincidentally also a Dell, doesn't have this problem.  Neither do mine or my wife's iPhones or my kids' Nintendo DSs.  I'm totally lost.  I've tried uninstalling the adapter, updating it, updating the firmware on the router, changing the power options on the wireless adapter, changing wireless channels, uninstalled and completely removed AVG 2013, tried a clean boot, and more.  I'm getting real close to scrapping this computer and going with another brand...

Here is my system info:

I am having a huge problem since yesterday. I was using my wireless connection like always and it has randomly started to stop working for brief periods of time. Experiencing Frequently Slow Internet Connection

Nov 16, 2011

I'm basically experiencing a frequently slow internet connection, but I believe this to be a fault with Virgin Media. Instead, I have a quick question - there are 7 computers in this house (excluding iphones etc), and the speed we pay for is up-to 50MBPS. Am I correct in thinking that this should be more than enough speed for all computers to be active on the internet without issue - including using Skype/Streaming TV etc? How exactly does a router distribute the broadband connection? This one is mainly out of curiosity, but occasionally I will find that the computer next to me has no issues streaming a TV program, but that my own computer won't even load the page.

The signal strength on the main floor of our townhouse is ~ 80%. My problem is the signal frequently disconnects then recovers automatically causing frustration when browsing the internet. My question: Should I upgrade to a new Wireless N router OR purchase a WiFi Range Extender? since my laptop has a Wireless-G adaptor would a Wireless-N router provide a stronger signal?

Hard-wired PC Dropping Internet Connection Frequently?

Dec 28, 2011

I have a Belkin 8236-4 v2 I got from Belkin because they RMA'd a 6 yearold Pre-N that kicked the bucket. I've been having a hassle trying to get my connection stable. At first I thought it was because the DHCP was causing anything connected to the router to conflict, so I set one of the PCs on the network outside the DHCP range with a static IP and gave it the Google DNS, while this worked for my PS3(connected wirelessly) it did not solve the problem with this PC. I've looked around on the internet for the past few days trying to fix it, and tried several things, but no avail. I'm beginning to think I may need to just buy a whole new router from another company, because after reading reviews on this router I got, it seems to be a big problem for a lot of people, while it seems to happen on a number of other brand routers as well, so I don't want to give up on this thing just yet.

I am sure you must be doubting the signal strength of Wi-Fi but I can confirm the signal strength was fine. In fact I performed ping test simultaneously on another laptop . The performance on other laptop was fine but on Inspirion N5040 I was finding too many Ping drops and was not able to browse properly.

I also, verified setting on Wireless adapter and found it is in DHCP.

I have got ADSL 196kbps PPPoe internet connection and lately there has been some problems with it. Sometimes the internet connection disconnects itself and again reconnects. And the internet connection is getting very slow. While downloading, I am able to download at full speed only at those download providers which provides full speed but at other download providers I am able to download with not even half speed. While browsing, the internet loses connectivity sometimes and from my guess I am able to browse with only half the speed. I have tried in different browsers and it is same with all of them.

Internet Connection Randomly Disconnects Or Resets

May 6, 2011

The problem is that my internet connection either randomly loses connection for about 5-10 seconds until it gets back online or disconnects all together. When it disconnects and it can't get back online on it's own, I have to pull the power plug and plug it back in. My sister in law and I are sharing internet since our houses are about 100 feet between each other. We are using one modem, and two routers. All we did was just plug the second router to the first router and it worked! We didn't configure anything in the router control panels, we basically just plugged and play. Since it's been kicking us off or resetting on us, I feel it might be something that we had to configure in the two routers. But I don't know what to configure. Primary House Modem Belkin Router (we are wired and wireless) 150ft cable (LAN'd on Belkin, WAN'd on Linksys) Linksys Router (sister in law is wired and wireless) Secondary House

Internet Connection Disconnects Intermittently / Home Network Extremely Slow?

I have been having problems with my Internet the past couple weeks. Another problem that happens while browsing, it will take about a minute for a page to load. The computer I am using is wired right into the router.

The rest of the family's computers the apple tv and the roku are wireless. I have been hearing complaints from them and have witnessed the laggyness. While streaming videos on the roku or apple tv, the video will stop and say video is not available or no connection. This is what I get from ipconfig/all

Wireless Connection Frequently Dropping

Jul 23, 2011

I have a wireless Motorola modem that is hardwired to a computer that is usually off. This modem services 4 other computers in the house wirelessly and all experience the same frequent connection drops regardless of connection quality. I've had problems with this modem for as long as I can remember but it never bothered me because the problems were too far and few between; now, the connection has progressed to dropping within minutes of use. When the connection is dropped I cannot access my modem (plugging the ip address into my web browser)The connection stays acceptable for a while after resetting but always reverts back to being a piece of crap. The connection drops most frequently when under heavy load i.e. steam downloading a game at my connection's full capacity, just only more frequently. The connection will still drop within the hour if I'm downloading anything or not.

I've tried rerouting the wireless modem into another wireless router before but it caused me new problems. Before this all started within last week, I contracted some spyware that redirected Google search links and also killed my connection frequently along with terrible slowdowns. I gave up trying to clean the system and reformatted but my internet connection still drops and it's now affecting all computers that connect to this modem. [code]

Wireless Connection Drops And Picks Up Frequently

Sep 8, 2012

I am trying to track down a problem I am having with one laptop. Other wireless devices on the network are not showing the same problem. Connecting to the router by ethernet resolves the problem.Over a 120 second period, the wireless connection drops and reconnects several times. Each time it drops it almost immediately picks up and re-connects. The "down time" is usually between 5 and 20 seconds.I have updated the driver for the wireless card (it was out of date) but this did not resolve.

Reading posts here - I see you typically need to see a WiFi inspector screen shot - which I have attached. You can see a couple of "drops" on the graph.

Windows Vista - Wireless Connection Dropped Frequently?

Recently, for some unknown reason, the dropping has stopped, but now I am getting speeds of around 9-15 kb/s.

The thing that has me COMPLETELY stumped is when I plug my laptop into the router, the wireless speed on my PC speeds up to, according to, 5.8 Mbps. If I unplug the laptop from the router, the speed on my PC slows down to .25 Mbps, yes - POINT .25 Mbps.I have attached the tester .

Cisco Routers :: RV220W WAN Connection Drops Frequently?

Apr 14, 2011

I'm on firmware and I'm seeing frequent drops in the WAN connection. Most network clients don't notice the drop because it reconnects, but the X11 windows server running over a VPN drops the session and I have to re-establish it. Also, at the same time I experience a 15-20 second silence gap on my VoIP phone connected to vonage (not over VPN). Never happened on my Linksys router, but it happens many times a day on the rv220w.
