Internet Connection Frequently Stopping

Jul 22, 2011

I am having a huge problem since yesterday. I was using my wireless connection like always and it has randomly started to stop working for brief periods of time. It's like a continuous cycle where the internet works smoothly and fast (like always) for 30 secs at a time, then it goes into 15 secs where nothing works.

Internet Connection Disconnects Frequently?

May 21, 2011

Recently came back from college to a terrible internet connection that frequently disconnects or drops in speed randomly (for all computers on network). This requires me to perform a hard reset to restore connection. This usually happens at least once a day and sometimes several. Current set up is a Motorola Surfboard SB5100 Cable Modem and a Linksys WRT54GS router.

Experiencing Frequently Slow Internet Connection

Nov 16, 2011

I'm basically experiencing a frequently slow internet connection, but I believe this to be a fault with Virgin Media. Instead, I have a quick question - there are 7 computers in this house (excluding iphones etc), and the speed we pay for is up-to 50MBPS. Am I correct in thinking that this should be more than enough speed for all computers to be active on the internet without issue - including using Skype/Streaming TV etc? How exactly does a router distribute the broadband connection? This one is mainly out of curiosity, but occasionally I will find that the computer next to me has no issues streaming a TV program, but that my own computer won't even load the page.

Hard-wired PC Dropping Internet Connection Frequently?

Dec 28, 2011

I have a Belkin 8236-4 v2 I got from Belkin because they RMA'd a 6 yearold Pre-N that kicked the bucket. I've been having a hassle trying to get my connection stable. At first I thought it was because the DHCP was causing anything connected to the router to conflict, so I set one of the PCs on the network outside the DHCP range with a static IP and gave it the Google DNS, while this worked for my PS3(connected wirelessly) it did not solve the problem with this PC. I've looked around on the internet for the past few days trying to fix it, and tried several things, but no avail. I'm beginning to think I may need to just buy a whole new router from another company, because after reading reviews on this router I got, it seems to be a big problem for a lot of people, while it seems to happen on a number of other brand routers as well, so I don't want to give up on this thing just yet.

Dell :: Inspiron 15-N5040 Loses Internet Connection Frequently?

Feb 9, 2012

Recently I have purchased Inspirion N5040 with Windows 7. I have observed the system looses internet connection when on Wi-FI.

Checked Ping on Yahoo & google with -t option and found few ping response and then a lot of request time outs.

I am sure you must be doubting the signal strength of Wi-Fi but I can confirm the signal strength was fine. In fact I performed ping test simultaneously on another laptop . The performance on other laptop was fine but on Inspirion N5040 I was finding too many Ping drops and was not able to browse properly.

I also, verified setting on Wireless adapter and found it is in DHCP.

Downloading Stopping Others From Accessing The Internet?

Apr 25, 2012

I haven't been able to get a decent answer to no matter how much googling etc I do. We have a problem in our flat where any time someone downloads something everyone else in the flat loses access to the internet until that person finishes their download or stops it. We are all accessing the internet through the same router, 3 of us wirelessly and 1 wired. The computers which are for some reason blocked by the other person downloading can't even access the router to do a reset or work out whats happening. [URL] gives our download speed as 14.80Mbps which isn't great but okay for good old NZ.Why would it be that 1 person downloading is preventing the others from accessing the net, do some downloads somehow take full control of all the available bandwidth ?.And is there any way to make it so that it doesn't happen, like make it so no computer can use all the bandwidth at a time ?, ie my flatmate can download his whatever but I can still send emails etc at the same time.

Wireless Connection Frequently Dropping

Jul 23, 2011

I have a wireless Motorola modem that is hardwired to a computer that is usually off. This modem services 4 other computers in the house wirelessly and all experience the same frequent connection drops regardless of connection quality. I've had problems with this modem for as long as I can remember but it never bothered me because the problems were too far and few between; now, the connection has progressed to dropping within minutes of use. When the connection is dropped I cannot access my modem (plugging the ip address into my web browser)The connection stays acceptable for a while after resetting but always reverts back to being a piece of crap. The connection drops most frequently when under heavy load i.e. steam downloading a game at my connection's full capacity, just only more frequently. The connection will still drop within the hour if I'm downloading anything or not.

I've tried rerouting the wireless modem into another wireless router before but it caused me new problems. Before this all started within last week, I contracted some spyware that redirected Google search links and also killed my connection frequently along with terrible slowdowns. I gave up trying to clean the system and reformatted but my internet connection still drops and it's now affecting all computers that connect to this modem. [code]

Wireless Connection Drops And Picks Up Frequently

Sep 8, 2012

I am trying to track down a problem I am having with one laptop. Other wireless devices on the network are not showing the same problem. Connecting to the router by ethernet resolves the problem.Over a 120 second period, the wireless connection drops and reconnects several times. Each time it drops it almost immediately picks up and re-connects. The "down time" is usually between 5 and 20 seconds.I have updated the driver for the wireless card (it was out of date) but this did not resolve.

Reading posts here - I see you typically need to see a WiFi inspector screen shot - which I have attached. You can see a couple of "drops" on the graph.

D-Link 2750U Losing Connection Frequently?

Apr 22, 2013

I started using a D-link 2750U wireless modem-router about 2 months ago, and configured it using the given disk for my ISP (MTNL Delhi). Since then, it has never retained a connection for more than 10 days, give or take i.e starts showing a red earth light instead of a green one. I usually reset it to factory settings and reconfigure it using the same disc over and over again, but now it has started dropping connection more frequently.Recently, it developed a new disease. Connection is very unstable now. Through line, it keeps disconnecting every 4-5 minutes. re-connects and dies again itself and does not work through wi-fi at allMy hardware quality healthy as I ran a wired connection for over 3 years without any trouble before this one.

Windows Vista - Wireless Connection Dropped Frequently?

Mar 21, 2012

My computer is one that I built with windows vista, and for the wireless connection I am using a USB adaptor. I am not too sure what other info I need to put here.My connection used to drop frequently (around every 5 min) and I would have really slow speeds (10ish kb/s). Recently, for some unknown reason, the dropping has stopped, but now I am getting speeds of around 9-15 kb/s.

The thing that has me COMPLETELY stumped is when I plug my laptop into the router, the wireless speed on my PC speeds up to, according to, 5.8 Mbps. If I unplug the laptop from the router, the speed on my PC slows down to .25 Mbps, yes - POINT .25 Mbps.I have attached the tester .

Cisco Routers :: RV220W WAN Connection Drops Frequently?

Apr 14, 2011

I'm on firmware and I'm seeing frequent drops in the WAN connection. Most network clients don't notice the drop because it reconnects, but the X11 windows server running over a VPN drops the session and I have to re-establish it. Also, at the same time I experience a 15-20 second silence gap on my VoIP phone connected to vonage (not over VPN). Never happened on my Linksys router, but it happens many times a day on the rv220w. Cabling / Cards :: Bridged Xbox Live Connection Frequently Disconnecting

Feb 27, 2012

Recently my xbox live connection, which is bridged through my desktop, has been disconnecting about every 10 minutes of online gameplay. Now i want to give as much information possible for the sake of everyone else. Previously when i was running the bridged connection, everything was fine. My old set up was as follows: The computer in my home office is a dell Inspiron 620. The high speed modem it's connected to is a motorola 2210- 02. Then I ran a Netgear Wireless G router (WGR614V10) which all the wireless electronics connect to. The computer in my room is a HP Compaq Presario PC (SR5807C) which connected to the wireless router using a Netgear WPN111V3 wireless USB adapter. From there I ran an ethernet cable from my Xbox 360 into the ethernet port in the back of my PC and bridged the connections. This setup was brutally effective for about 2 years. One day my wireless adapter, connected to the HP Compaq burnt out. This is when the problems began. I replaced it with a Netgear N300 Wireless USB adapter, and the HP Compaq Presario connects to the wireless router just fine and never loses connection. But when I bridged the connections between the computer and the Xbox 360, my xbox live began to go out.... ALL THE TIME.... All the of the above information remains the same except for the new wireless USB adapter (N300). I've tried everthing from restarting the computer, resetting all settings to default (both the 360 and the wireless settings on my computer), port forwarding and triggering by microsoft xbox live recommendations and anything in between. I would have figured with the newer USB adapter my live should be working better but every 10 minutes it disconnects me from xbox live. (When I get disconnected from live, the computer, from what I can tell, remains connected while the bridge encounters all the issues) At the same time apps like netflix and youtube work fine all day and I never get disconnected, only when I'm gaming (COD MW3, Halo Reach, etc.).

Internet Randomly And Frequently Cuts Out?

Sep 6, 2012

I have an acer aspire 5536 laptop and it will randomly disconnect from the wireless internet. Everything will be working fine but as soon as I try to load two things at once (or sometimes even one big thing) it will show that little yellow exclamation mark and say no access to internet even though it is still connected to the network. The other computers connected to the wireless work fine with no access issues so I know it is not the router. Also this happened in my previous home where I used wireless but from a different provider so it is definitely something wrong with the computer. Every time it goes to no internet access if I disconnect and then reconnect it works again.

My wireless internet constantly disconnects and then reconnects right away for seemingly no reason. I can't find a pattern, sometimes I have no dropouts for 6 hours, sometimes it happens every 20-30 seconds for a few minutes. I've checked online and i tried to do some research on it but i couldnt find an answer, i remember typing something into the cmd and it said that something was disables, just cant remember what i typed into the cmd. Also, when my ISP raises the network speed, my router or whatever it is can't handle it so i disconnect and have to call them to set it down.

Linksys Wireless Router :: E2500 Frequently Disconnects From Internet?

Mar 20, 2012

My Linksys E2500 wireless router frequently interrupts the connection to my ISP. This happens about 2 times an hour. The connections is - due to the automatic reconnect feature - only interrupted for about 20-30 seconds, but is quite unnerving, as it causes downloads to stop, streams to freeze and website loading failures. The reason I know that the connection is interrupted completely is that my IP address changes every time it happens. I know the failure is not on my ISPs side, since the connection does not interrupt when I connect my PC directly to my DSL-Modem (Siemens C2-010-I). The router runs the newest available firmware (1.0.04 build 1 Dec 26, 2011)

TP-Link Dual-Band Wireless :: WDR4300 - One Computer Losing Internet Frequently After Firmware Upgrade

Hardware Version : V1

ISP : Rogers

Ever since upgrading my firmware from 120426 to the latest(121225), one of my computer(windows xp, TP-link Nano) is frequently losing internet connectivity.I purchased the router a month ago and firmware 120426 was the version that came installed. The router would stop working about 3-4 times a week, requiring me to reboot it. Because of this I did some research online and found out about version 121225 which supposedly should improve performance and stability. After the firmware upgrade today I noticed that one of my computer is having a lot of trouble maintaining internet connectivity for more than 30 minutes. When checking wireless connectivity it would say that I am connected and that the signal strength is excellent. I'm also able to ping but not've tried ipconfig /flushdns and it doesn't solve the problem). I also have trouble accessing or pinging the router( with this computer.

Downloads Starting And Stopping Constantly?

Aug 6, 2012

First, I'm running Windows7 64 bit. So whenever I download a decently sized file; my download will start and get good speed for a few minutes, then it will drop off and stop and my connection to the internet will be lost for a short time while the connection resets. This happens if I'm using a program like Steam to download a game, torrenting something, sometimes on my Xbox 360 when it needs to update itself or a game, occasionally on a large app or album off of iTunes or patching an online game. However, I have no issue watching YouTube videos or playing an online game while also having TeamSpeak running in the backround to chat. I don't lose connection when browsing the internet at all and recently I was able to stream a live event without issue but I only tried that once (I don't have Netflix or anything similar). It usally isn't a big issue because my download will pick up where it left off most of the time but its a pain in the butt to have to add on an extra hour to a download sometimes for this.
